Have a look at BehindwoodsDotCom: "Kuselan’s poor show". According to trade pundits the losses incurred by Kuselan could be more than that of Baba. Hey Rajini fanatics, we are very much happy that its utter flop than BABA. Finally true tamilians taught him a good lesson. After good start at the box office, Kuselan seems to be fading out. This Rajnikanth starrer was touted to be a crowd puller initially but trade reports seem to suggest quite the opposite now. While losses are reported from all quarters, some theatres have also resorted to the extreme measure of cutting down the number of shows. The situation is alike in all the three centers – A, B and C.
According to trade pundits the losses incurred by Kuselan could be more than that of Baba. It is believed that Pyramid Saimira, the film’s distributors and those screening the film on MG basis are all reeling under the loss. Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports say that Kuselan’s failure in the C centers was due more to Rajini’s explanation to Karnataka regarding his speech during the Hogenekkal fast.
After a long time, more than 15 years, Kamal Haasan has won the Royal battle yet again. The giants have clashed several times in the past, starting from late-70's. It was 1992, when two big movies, starring the titans released together. Kamal's Thevar Magan and Rajinikanth's Pandian released on the same day and Kamal truimphed the war pretty easily. Thevar magan won both the critics and the masses. After this there were two clashes - in 1995 Kuruthippunal and Muthu released together. Both movies did well but Muthu had an edge over KP in B and C centres. 10 years later, in 2005 Rajinikanth made a huge comeback in Chandramukhi, literally crushing Kamal's low budget comedy Mumbai Xpress. Now the wheel has turned once again. The audience were bowled over by Kamal's 10 incarnations in Dasavatharam, released earlier this year. The movie became a huge grosser both in India and overseas and is belived to be running in over 500 theatres after 50 days. Kuselan, hyped as Rajini film dipped after the first 2 days and is still limping in the box office. If you consider the movies till August this year, Kamal seems to be the clear winner.
Biggest Hit of the year: Dasavatharam. Revenue earned in 58 days: 315 crores.
Biggest Flop of the year: Kuselan. //A representative from Pyriamid Saimira, which distributed Kuselan [Images], admits that the film has not broken even yet.//
Kamal Haasan is the Ultimate Vasool Raja of the SOUTH.

Hi, cartoon. Rajani is worst than Micky / mouse, and you are comparing to Tom Cruise, you must one of the stupid tamilian.
The problem with Indian cinema seems to be multifold. 1. The senior guys never let go, they still want to do be heroes and romance young girls.
2. 99% of the young fellows coming through are not real talent, they are here because they are somebody of somebody in the film world. People with real talent rarely get a look in.
3.Most of the directors are afraid to antagonize the percieved viewer's choice and hence always go with the junta ka choice.
4. Less than 10% of Indian viewers are mature enough to appreciate good cinema.
With all these issues right now it seems Indian cinema has only one way to go.

true sameer....i would say even we are responsible for this mess as an audience...if movies like partner, oso, heybaby, sivaji can be block busters...what can you say...we all shout at Karan Johar...but look at his commercial success.....though he makes terrible movies, all his movies are heavy grosses....unless we change our taste, no point in blaming these guys...
it is bad to know that movie like this is trailing behind...
Even Ajith, who made a bold move to do kireedom was forced to change climax....
Vikram had enough in kasi..flop..kamal had many--anbe sivam, hey ram..
basically songs are the limelight in TN, then comes punch dialogues , 1 glamourous song , 3 fights----film will run for atleast 50 days...god save it shud not become like bollywood--half nake ladies throught the film..

To Common,
yes..yes..and our tamil movies are all clean and very beautiful!! no double meaning songs..no roadside romeo heroes encouraging eve-teasing and female exploitation..our all tamil actresses are completely dressed and are in the movie not for their cleveage and bossoms, but for their intense acting abilities!! I fail to understand when the discussion is about Kuselan, why should we drag Bombay Cinema in it? Are we all that petty and insecure??? Come on guys , time to grow up!!

you r right, some of the tamil songs looks like a groping session, especially that monkey called Simbu. Wonder who the hell casts this midget in movies.

Mr.Common while I agree with your view point broadly I dont think Kuselan can be compared to Kireedom, Kasi, Anbe Sivam,Hey Ram etc.Already a lot of " extra fittings" have been given to Kuselan when compared to its original. So its good that people have rejected it otherwise people like P.Vasu will keep murdering good movies like Manichitrathazhu or Kadha Parayumbol again & again.I think Rajni must now stand up & actually deliver a quality film. How long will he get away with gimmicks alone?
