I am also a Maharashtrian and Dont see any big credentials in Raj Thakarey . The person who can break relation with his brother and Father alike Bal Thakarey has no moral rights to say that this is my land.
Dear Rediff, Please stop keeping this issue unnecesarily in the News. This issue has been over. And whatever mentioned here that is long back story. If in case Amitabh have made this statement very recently (Which I am sure is not recent one). He should stop discussing this useless issue.
The people who brought glory to the city are asked to get out. Not only these fanatics will not do any good but also prevent other from doing good. Leave Amitabh alone, he has entertained whole generation.

Thats a much simpler issue which all big cities face. Why govt allowing slums to grow. Bulldoze them. Illegal tenants will automatically go away. But you cannot constituionally prevent anyone from going anywhere looking for work. Since Mah. leadership is lacking intelligent solutions, they are thinking on radical lines.

Slums are illegal. Remove the slums and evict the migrants. Problem khatm. Don't go harrassing legal and decent people- that too Indians.
But once Maharashtran politicians started pandering to the encroachers and legalised the slums, it becomes Maharashtra's people's problem, and not the migrants' because they are the ones who elected such politicians.
Indians RICHLY deserves the politicians we elects- the price is the tax for our collective stupidity.

there is nothing wrong in earning money. If you or even me get a chance we will earn and so Amitabh did nothing wrong. He is a person like you and me he earns and he pays the tax. So no issues on bringing slums or whatever.
Raj Thackerey is a mad person who sud be sent to asylum. If needed we can kick out all Mumbai-ites from India if they promote regionalism. AB is right. BTW, AB is the most popular Indian in the world. Mumbai-kars are so ungrateful!!

The statement mad by Mr.Bachan is legally and ethically completly right. No one can say this land belongs to ONLY maharashtrians. Infact, Mumbai does not belong to Maharashtra. Historically, Mumbai was a set of 7 islands and a part of the Konkan region and the Konkan people were the original inhabitants. Maharashtra incedentally started from Vidharba. Then, mumbai began its transformation when the parsi and gujarati people started businesses here. Then came in the Muslim traders and then the rest. It became a major trading point and grew in size and character BECAUSE of the amalgamantion of so many religions,castes,sects etc. Mumbai would not have been as cosmopolitian, diverse and culturally rich if it was not for ALL those ppl all arund india who came and settled here. We owe all dat we cherish, our city and its commerce, its sights and smells to all those ppl who came from their places and made mumbai their home. Unfortunately , most of you might agree with me BUT the rest of the masses who do not have access to this site WILL & WONT read this and will never know the truth. This is all done for political mileage. India won its freedom after yrs of struggle..find out how many religions and castes fought and perished in its struggle. ALL OF THEM..THEY FOUGHT FOR AN UNITED INDIA...not a gujarat, or a maharashtra or watever. Here is a man who has peacefully worked in mumbai for yrs, followed the law, paid his taxes and NO ONE can ask him to leave. Kudos for the stand, Mr.Bach
