Why regionalism?
by John dicosta on May 01, 2008 03:59 AM

Suppose if a person lives in a state for 50 years and does nothing, should that person be stoned? Does he not have the right to stay in that state?

Think yourself. If someone did not fight for India's independence, should that person be thrown into Indian Ocean?

Only the constitution of our country is the governing authority, and nobody has right to question ones Integrity. This is my personal idea of peace in our country

AB has disappointed many in Maharashtra & many Indian nationals too
by milind sabnis on Apr 29, 2008 05:45 PM  | Hide replies

AB despite staying for over 40 years in Maharashtra remains loyal to his home-state UP. What is this but not a blatant example of regionalism? As a Maharashtrian I feel if AB is not branded a regionalist and anti-national for his actions, then so should Raj Thackeray not be branded a regionalist and anti-national. Raj Thackeray never criticised AB but instead only asks his followers to take example of AB's regionalism and exorted them to remain loyal to their home state (Maharashtra).

AB also hankers after political power, though not directly, note his present closeness with Amar Singh & party, and his wife made a Member of Parliament.

Truly disappointing Mr Bacchan!

Well there are many Indians living outside India. Every month they send billions of dollars to India the place they belong to. Its very very natural. There is nothing wrong in that. The same goes for Mr. Bachchan. If I want to do something for my country I will definitely choose the place (village) where I spent my childhood. I will not go to any other village. There is nothing wrong in it.

I understand that for the first approx 10 years after migration, migrants do keep their link with their home states. But after 40 YEARS ??? When will these migrants learn to assimilate? If migrants do not assimilate after so many years then do not expect locals (wherever in the world they may be!) to accept them. Locals will continue to treat them like outsiders.

AB being a public icon, someone to whom UP/Bihari migrants look up to, should have spread the assimilation message, instead of playing the regionalism issue.

Also with AB, it's not only purely sending money to his village, he also persists as portraying himself as a UP wallah, always.

If anyone thinks this is right, then AB is as much a regionalist as Raj Thackeray.

I am a Maharashtrian and I am staying in Karnataka.
Even after spending 40 years, here, Maharashtra WILL have a special place in my heart.

Ask yourself.
Will you stop loving your home state just because you have spent a large part of your life outside it?

Amitabh is right.
Raj Thakrey is a fool.

What is your problem and in fact everybody else's. Why sudenly everybody wants to make him a mumbaiwallah. Can you impose that on anybody. You would not have done even a percent of what people like him do to the society. So stop cribbing like a creepy baby.

some one says "BIGB asked people to vote for SP"...May I know which ad he did to promote SP???...Being a brand ambassador he alwasy promoted toursim and investment in UP....

He was made brand ambassador for UP and its a fact that it was his effort that more and more directors started to invest money heavily in UP especially films like Bunty n bubli, Banaras etc...

He belongs to the state of UP and being the state embassador if he says "UP mein dum hai" then whats wrong in that??? ...there is crime in every state but it doent men you shouldnt be proud of your state where u belong........Offcourse he should have avoided criminals like Amar singh and mulayam and people are free to criticize him for that...I have no objection

Some are saying he is trying to be farmer..I would like to ask such people are they greater than the verdict of Supreme court which didnt find bigb guilty?...Do they people really know the law of land better than supreme court???

when there was allegation on him regarding BOFORS he went ahead and fought the case in court and came out as wimmer. The same media which maligned bigb's image didnt come forward to apologize....

Being a celebrity he knows very well that people will scritinize his each and every action and he is aware of that..he doenst need anyone's certification about that..every celebrity has a friend from a political party and BIGB is not an exception..but it doent mean that he is going to fight election on the ticket of thatparty

Nitin Srivastava,

AB is not the saint you make him out to be. He is a luminary only in the film world, do not confuse him with a superstar of reality.

Pointers to you

1. Political ads glorifying UP "UP mein hein dum..." (not expected from AB who has stayed over 40 years in Maharashtra identifing himself as a UPwallah). If AB is not regionalistic and anti-national then so is Raj Thackeray not an anti-national for espousing the Maharashtrian cause.

2. AB should stop the bullshit about being a farmer. He used political connections to get some petty officials to put his name as a farmer into land records of UP to buy farm-land at cheap rates in Maharashtra. What is this if not a crime/fraud?

3. A true let-down in my opinion : When the land seemed out of his hands in Maharashtra he chose to donate it away, but as soon as the legal verdict favoring him came he promptly wanted the "daan" back. This is no superstar in real life.

4. AB remains a political animal (closeness to Amar Singh, wife an SP MP for 2 terms).

Stop talking nonsense, Nitin. Accept AB for what he is. AB is a superstar of films not real life!

The Manglik Effect
by Naradmuni on Apr 28, 2008 06:52 PM  | Hide replies

Amitabh has a serious effect on him because of the females in his life having a 'Manglik' horoscope.
The first female was ofcourse Rekh Auntie. As Amitabh had affair with Rekha, because of her Manglik effect he met with an accident in Banglore while shooting the movie 'Coolie' which was so deadly that his career had come to almost to a Halt.
The second Manglik is his Daughter-in-law Aishwarya, because of whose entry he has become target from many political personalities like the Congress, the MNS,Mayavati's BSP etc and also he has been targeted by Shatughna Sinha,Salim Khan from the Bollywood .There seem to be no letup in future in th eproblems for Bacchan.
Amitabh should kick out Aishwrya from his family just as he did the same for Rekha Auntie few years back.
