cmon guys,y r we taking these afghans so seriously. extremism has made their minds sick. as far as portrayal of Hinduism is concerned, has there been any instance in these serials where anyone has made any pro-Hindu or Pro-Extremist statement. wotever they have shown is the reflection of Indian culture. Cant Hindus display their own culture in their own country ? if they do so, then r they communal ??? afghan ppl's minds r corrupted. thats y they perceive us and everyone else as how their minds wud work.
I dont think its wrong if indian television shows hindu traditions and festivals. TV is mode of entertainment and its bound to get influenced by the religion and cultue what majority of India follows , and this is something very true that India is a hindu state irrespective of what Indian government says(that its a secular state), India was and will always remain a hindu atate. In USA People are shown going church and celebrating christmas , thanksgiving and other festivals on TV which are integral to their cultuire and going on from ages and same goes for islamic and jewish countries so its not the matter of conflict and argument but its just natural and obvious because TV is just showing whatever we do and feel as Indian.

Let us make the Hindi movies which are mix and match. There should be major common scenes. a few scenes where there is hindu way replace it with afgan way like Bashkashi and Namas. So that every one is happy.

if anyone has a problem with Indian television potraying hindu festivals then they shud just switch of f the TV and go do something else. it is our culture and we shud be proud of the same. my advice to the afgans wud be to stop watching indian shows and indulge in their favourite passtime(torturing their women). there is no reason why we shud replace anything with Namas/Bashkashi...not yet anyways...maybe when diwali,dussera,gudi padawa,ganesh chaturthi,durga pooja, holi etc are celebrated in afghanistan then we can think abt it. its abt time we indians stood up for ourselves our country and our traditions and culture

Why is this hatred against Hinduism in Media. I think is organized propaganda to defame and confuse our religion. What's wrong with if the TV channels are showing what people like and worship. Why rediff does not go to Pakinstan or other countries and talk about why are they not showing our serials. Why are we having such worthless discussions that hurt sentiments of the majority? Why are we not talking about increased Christianity in our movies and media. I think that is a bigger issue. Who is paying rediff to promote these efforts? I would say Hindus should respond to it with one voice and unity.

If the family in a serial is Muslim,then Indian TV does show Muslim festivals and lifestyle.Hindus have always enjoyed those movies and serials.So how come Islam is so intolerant when they see Hindu life? Is it jealousy,intolerance or fear that they will lose headcount?

Richa - you are so right...every freaking bollywood movie promotes chritians. You will notice:
1) chruch protrayed as abode of peace and love while temple is where evil brahmin is
2) Nun is kind and loving while a hindu priest is a rapis. I know nuns who are as biatch as anyone can be
3)Every peanut worth actor is wearing a cross. WHY?
4) Hindu men with tilak and saffron towel are only shown as goondas.

No one with sane mind thinks it is wrong to respect one's religion; and if the Family is a HINDU family in tele serial they celebrate Hindu festival. RDIFF please stop this kind of stupid publications and start adding new horizons for communal differences
First of all Afghanistan is in a bad situation and the country is a mess. Who else but India shows all serials. It's a courtesy we are doing. Amir khan gave away DVD's for free for Lagaan to Afhghans. Still these people find loop holes to bring religion into picture. So what if the serials are un-islamic? Afterall there are other religions in this world other than islam.
And thanks to rediff to puvlish such non-sensical topics and cuase violence among people through posts unnecessarily!
