Who is this joker ? As an actor Amitabh Bachchan must be hundred times better than him

Amitabh Bachchan is an incredible actor. Charleton Heston was also an incredible actor. Both are from different cultures, both acted in different kinds of films, both have different talents. I think it best to allow each individual to praise anyone they please. If someone does not appreciate Mr. Heston's talent, that's fine. To demean his talent based upon religious difference I think would not be prudent. We must all accept the talents humans in this world have to offer. RIP Mr. Heston, you truly are my favorite actor. I am only 19 but I find talent in movies that were created half a century ago moreso than many junk movies created today, movies that are filled with junk like that corrupt the minds of today's generation.

Thanks fo sharing your comments.

It has just become a fashion for pseudo intellectuals in India and NRIs to praise any americam BS and denigrate their own people You idiots just tell me how these so called idiotic catholic movies like Benhur and Ten commandments are relevant to India ?

By the way, BenHur isn't just a Catholic Movie. It's a movie that unites religions such as Judaism and Christianity. If everyone took all religious movies offensively, how would we appreciate the diversity in this world?

thanks again,

The world is a better place without Heston. He was one of the most arrogant men to have walked the face of this earth. He was a man caught in time and living in an over-sized ego brought about the celluloid characters he portrayed. The idiot thought he was God because he played Moses and lent his voice as "God". This misplaced arrogance led him to lead NRA (National Rifles Association), America's worst lobby pushing unrestricted gun use. He stood as the face of the gun lobby which effectively prevented gun control legislation ensuring billions poured into the coffers of the gun makers. Because of his mindless support to gun use fronted by NRA, hundreds of people lost their lives to gun-slingers, including tens of students. He lived a long life, putting others to misery. No remorse for this man's death. No tears will be shed. Those who shed tears, please shed a tear for the lives lost due to lack of gun control. Watch Michael Moore's 'Bowling for Columbine' for a real-dose of Heston's arrogance

Good Riddance, This is a stupid arguement. Do you really think if guns were banned that people like those at Columbine would have turned theirs in????? Sure take away the guns of upstanding memebers of society and only the outlaws will have them!!!! Our country lost a great man when Charlton Heston died. How much do you really know about him? Not much apparently.

No words can describe the man Charlton Heston.
The titanic structure stands him out from the millions. Request to all movie lovers, to watch The Ten Commandants & Ben Hur and keep a copy of the VCD. You can only then feel his powers of reliving Moses. May his soul rest in peace. All movie lovers, do observe a minute silence as a small tribute to this legend.

One of my personal favorites I recommend to all is the movie: El CID

He portrays a character who was Spain's hero: Rodrigo Diaz of Bivar. He saved Spain from its enemies of northern Africa and united both Moors and Christians. It's a tale of how unity can accomplish more than segregation between cultures and opposing religions.

thanks

thanks

I happened to love his comment to Bill Clinton.. "We don't trust you with our 21 year old daughters and we don't trust you with our guns". It is our contituional right to bear arms. If we loose it then only criminals will have them. Check out the statisics of the countrys who have banned fire arms. Killings, robberys, rapes, and other violent crimes have gone through the roof. Check your facts before running your mouth.

Ben Hur and Charlton Heston
by Suman Barthakur on Apr 07, 2008 03:01 PM  | Hide replies

Even by recent standards the chariot race in "Ben-Hur"can easily be considered to be one of the most spectacular action sequences ever filmed. The film "Ben-Hur" won an unprecedented 11 Academy Awards, a number matched only by Titanic in 1997 and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King in 2003.Ben-Hur set the current record at 11 for the most Academy Awards won by a film. This record was subsequently matched by Titanic in 1997 and again by The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King in 2003.

You cant compare Titanic and Lord of the Rings with Ben-Hur. Ben-Hur was released in the 1950s, when there was no computer graphics and other aids. Whatever they did, they did it manually. And still the movie is so spectacular and grand. The status of Ben-Hur in Hollywood is like that of Sholay in India. It cannot be repeated, nor can be remade. Its a one-time movie.

Ram,

The movie is spectacular - the sets, the action, the acting, direction, everything. And this was released in the 1950s, with no computer graphics or digital techniques. They do show this movie in channels like MGM once in a while. Its a long movie, 3.30 hours. But if you get a chance, do see it.

Charlton Heston the greatest Hollywood actor ever
by Suman Barthakur on Apr 07, 2008 02:44 PM  | Hide replies

Charlton is always my favourite hollywood actor.I am very sad that he is no more.Heston was known for having played heroic roles, such as Moses in The Ten Commandments, Colonel George Taylor in Planet of the Apes and Judah Ben-Hur in Ben-Hur. Early in his career, he was one of a handful of Hollywood actors to speak out against racism and was active in the civil rights movement. During the latter part of his movie career, he starred in films such as The Omega Man and Soylent Green, which have a strong environmental message. However, he later supported conservative politics and was president of the National Rifle Association from 1998 to 2003.I thought the muscular, 6 ft 3 in, square jawed Heston bore an uncanny resemblance to the statue of Moses by Michelangelo. He was truly a great human being and a great actor.May his soul rest in peace.

From the sublime to the ridiculous ! We are talking about Charlton Heston and you raise such a puerile query about the handsomeness of such puny little actors as Dharmendra, Vinod Khanna , Kabir Bedi, Amitabh Bachhan and Jackie Shroff ! God save our country !
