Amrita Rao - An actress or a chameleon?
by Ashok S on Oct 26, 2007 12:13 PM  | Hide replies

Hello Armita,

Your last line "All in all Hyderabad is a beautiful city. I think I have fallen in love with it" sounds as if somebody told you "to be like a Roman while in Rome".

You are from Mumbai, so I understand that you know a lot about Mumbai.

But have you seen all the places in Hyderabad or lived here for a long time to make generic comments like "Shopping is great in Hyderabad and is better than in Mumbai"?

Come to Hitec city and see how people belonging to a great company like WIPRO are walking right in the middle of the road because there is no footpath.

Have a visit to any Railway station or even the Airport and find out what 'pre-paid' means; when you shell out money in 100's just because you do not know that the rates are not actually as per the distance but just 'fixed' or 'rigged'.

I have stayed in many cities (2 years in Mumbai, 5 years in Hyderabad, 25 years in Bangalore, 6 months in Cochin, 6 months in Chennai, 6 months in Mangalore) so I guess I can justify my comments much better than you can.

dude, u r alteast 33 years old and u take an actresses' opinion about Hyderabad seriously, I only have pity for you. Rediff can't just put good looking pics of actresses, they have to make them speak some dumb stuff so that they can write alongside the pics. The opinions r all trash and u can carry on with ur life

Bcoz here poor people are taken for a ride by actors as "do gooders in films "& eventually become corrupt politicians Ha Ha
I was not fascinated by Charminar bcoz totally surrounded by shops/congested & Charminar looses her charm in the midst but in any case its nothing great but a fort with 4 entrances...

We "Hindi movie fans" ...do not adore our stars nor do we build temples for them ...if they act well in a movie we watch it ..if they don't we ridicule them ....as simple as that ....
Actors are only actors for us not GODS ...

OK ..So just shut up and stop you Hindi bashing ...and yes its time for an "Arati" in your "Shri Shri Mahesh Babu Temple "..go and sing some bhajans ....

Dear Sindbad Da Saila,

What you have written is entirely true. I had already written this a while ago when Northies were making fun of Tamil movie Sivaji and other movies in South.

Mahesh can easily give John, Hritik a run for their money if he enters Bollywood. Actually,Mahesh was to act in the Hindi film Wanted dead or alive, a remake of Telugu industry record Pokiri (which was also remade in Tamil)but couldn't due to his commitments in Telugu.

Had any south Indian language been the National language, we would have had Oscar with us already. I am not against Hindi films but some South movies are really far ahead in terms of technology and script.

Coming to Athidi, the film is not a great one script wise, but technically, it is on par with any Hollywood film.

Dear Vinay

I appreciate ur love & emotions for ur province ...but sorry to say I cant really buy ur comments .... If Mahesh is tht talented enough to give John or Khans a run for their money he shudnt have confined himself in telegu movies..... Talent is for spreading not for confining urself within a small territorial boundary ..... I appreciate ur feelings for Mahesh as i understand tht he is one of the rarely found fair guy anmong Telugus....

And I have seen some South movies dubbed in Hindi ....and I am sorry to say tht most of them (with a few respectable exceptions) are real trash ones with facts far away from reality..... The comedy is not at all delicate ..abarring the lead acotrs other people look horrible ...if such movies go for oscar the people their will think that the movies are made in Africa....

Dear All,

When I said South Indian movies are not close to real life I have marked an exception in the bracket. And that was for some exceptionally good movies made in south. Offcourse especially in Malyalam. But frankly speaking you get such very well scripted and movies with real life touch in Marathi and Bengali also. (Sorry if I am missing something)

I also never said that Bollywood movies are good enough to get Oscars. Actully we all Indians need to change our mindset where we reckon Hero or Heroine of importance that a Director or Script Writer. The day we realise it then no body can stop Indain movies(Including all , not just bollywood ) from winning Oscar.

point taken.Every language gives out some fine movies which need not have a star acting in it. If only the jury considers these in the list to be seny for oscar nominations...but no they do not do it cause nobody lobbies for these movies. We will win ONLY WHEN every movie to be sent is considered for its merits irrespective of the language

Hindi is a hybrid language. I would never oppose if sanskrit is made our national language. But i will never accept hindi as a national language. Some politicians took the decision on their own and imposed it on us. I dare the current government to take a voting on national level to suggest the national languages.

Dear Vinay,
I really respect your emotions. But frankly speaking south indian movies are good but that doesn't mean they can grab the Oscar. For getting Oscar your movie should not be just technically good but also it should be close to the real life of people. Most of the south indian movies do not even go with people in other indian states well then forget the world (Few respectable exceptions). Please see the world first before coming to conclusion.

Bye

"Most of the south indian movies do not even go with people in other indian states".... do you really think that bollywood movies are watched by south indian states (other then northies living there )? or for that matter in US or UK (other then NRIs)

Bollywood does get close and is technically far superior apart of course from star power. Malayalees swear by their actors, but frankly non-malayalees care two hoots about malayalam movies and their actors. They obviously have a clout with the national awards and have a lobby which is why they win national awards,... otherwise there are way too good actors and directors in the rest of the country.

Dear Ms Amrita Rao,
If you would just take the trouble to come out of your posh residential area and care to look around in Mumbai you would find something called "KHAU GALLI". I agree that there's not one "EAT STREET" in Mumbai but there might probably be a 100 "KHAU GALLIs" in different areas of Mumbai. How wierd you've said "It was fascinating to see the 'Eat Street'..." Sweetheart you are meant to eat in "EAT STREET" or "KHAU GALLI" not go and "SEE" others eat from the darkened windows of your car...however fascinating it might be. And please the next time you make such statements about Mumbai...where about a billion readers or viewers would know about it...either GET YOUR FACTS CORRECT or settle to SOUND LIKE AN IGNORANT FOOL. Hi Chaitanya,
I've got nothing against the Eat Street in HYD...I've been there, eaten there...must agree it's awesome. And it really doesn't matter if Ms.Rao loves the EAT STREET in HYD. I'm merely correcting the following statement made by her..."It was fascinating to see the 'Eat Street', a popular hangout for teenagers because in Mumbai we have the Marine Drive, Worli Sea Face, Bandstand, Juhu beach but we don't have anything like the 'Eat Street'." Another thing...i'm not hiding my name....It's written at the end of the message...Rhea.

BOLLYWOOD or HINDI doesn't just belong to North INdia. It belongs to Entire India.

And South INdians are lucky that they can watch BOTH Their movies and also HINDI...esp Hyderabadis which is the Biggest Market for HIndi films after Mumbai and on Par with Delhi(my city)..may be even better.

Does any North Indian Film industry have such a big market like Telugu or Tamil. Or the even Kannada.

Can any of us Northies name a BHOJPURI ACTOR or a PUNJABI ACtor....

Laxmikanth berde is a MARATHI lead actor...but in HIndi is ruced to a low comedian.

Shame on us north INdians.....instead of being HAPPY for INDIA>....we have a NORTH SOUTH DIvide.

Aprreciate the REGIONAL CINEMAS...movies which are bigger than HINDI Films like SIvaji and INdra....in production as well as Raking in the Moolah...

Chiru it seems takes 12 crores a movie and Rajni it seems had taken 42 crores.

We will insult ourselves if we compare that Entire Regional cinema from North INdia (IF IT EXISTS) would even be that much costly.

So Compare...Gujrati to Telugu or Bhojpuri to Tamil.....

Dont be Jealous man.....we are insulting ourselves....by opening our mouth. coz as I told you....and it is a FACT.

IF YOU HAVE ANYTHING TO SAY......COMPARE IT WITH UR ORIYA OR BENGALI OR BHOJPURI OR RAJASTHANI OR GUJRATI INDUSTRY TO SOUTH INDIAN INDUSTRY.

I'm a North INdian and given a chance to see PUNJABI or HINDI film...I would watch a HIndi Film and not my mother toungue Punjabi.

Hi Sindbad. Correct me if i am wrong. I am sure you have heard about India International Film Festival (IITF) that happens at various places - Amsterdam, Yorkshire, Malaysia etc etc. But even after so many years this IITF has never seen any actor/actresses other than from bollywood being felicitated or given awards to. Why is this? Then why call it India International Film Festival. Aren't the very concerned people themselves dividing borders/cultures/languages? It hurts, it stinks, it rots - Rameez Robert Ranjit Singh Ramkumar (That's what I call myself)
