REALISTICALLY SPEAKING THERE ARE VERY INDIAN ACTORS THAT ARE IN THE SAME LEAGUE WITH THOSE 3 ... LIKE OF NASEERUDDIN AND KAMAL HASSAN COME VERY CLOSE. AND TALKING OF THE INFIGHTING ... GUYS ... WHEN IT COMES TO "REAL" MOVIES..NOT COMMERCIAL OR MOST SEEN ... ASSAMESE AND BENGALI MOVIES ARE SHOWN REGULARLY IN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVALS AND AWARDED MOST FREQUENTLY.

It doesnt matter which movies are sent to film festivals, as we all know how "Reflective" these events are of talents.. I can vouch for a thousand movies which are far better than any movie that has one "Best Picture" at a film festival.. I recently saw a movie called haseena in kannada, and God Dam it!!!!!!!!!! I was blown away by its sheer captivity.. And the movie was done with a budget that wud put most bollywood productions to shame..

Give me a BREAK!!! Amitabh? Acting? Mate, I've seen enough movies (including the highly overrated Sholay) and he is okay but not great as you mention above.
All the time, the Southern Indian cinema has been oppressed by Bollywood (all movies that come out of India are not "Bollywood" productions).
There have been really good actors and they all hail from the South.
1. "Chevaliye" Sivaji Ganesan (to whom Marlon Brando said "You can act like me; but I can't act like you")
2. Kamal Hassan (I don't believe I need to delve deeply into his filmography)
3. Mammootty
I'm just sick of these so called Bollywood movies that are totally crap (I'm not saying all Hindi movies are bad; I have my favourites - "Swaades", "Dil Chahta Hai", "Guru", "Dil Se", "Satya") but someone sending some crap like "Ellavya" for Oscar consideration? - You guys make me die laughing...
Lately there have been some great Tamil movies, but where is the recognition? 1. Kannathil Muthamittal - this should've been sent for Oscar consideration instead of that joke "Lagaan" 2. Thambi 3. Anbe Sivam
Even latest release "Katradhu Thamizh"
So I've had my say...

South Indian cinema doesnt need money man.....it rocks on the weigt of sheer performances....you forgot Devar Magan from which Virasat was made..power packed performances by Sivaji and Kamal. Yes bollywood has its own charm too but we are no less.....the best music director ARR, director Maniratnam and what not?Hema Malini and Sridevi ruled during their times...please dont take me wrong. I am not belittling bollywood. I am a huge fan of hindi movies but I just want to say that South is equal to the north!!!!

One thing I have observed at least on Rediff is that, I never see a North Indian screaming that South is bad and bollywood is superior, but I have always seen all these poor south Indians comparing themselves with bollywood and draw comparisions...look at your heroes...the most bad looking hero of Nana Patekar (not to forget how good actor he is) is much better looking than all the super stars here...If Dhanush can be a hero in Tamil...I can understand how the others would be in Tamilnadu...you guys are good..no doubt..but dont compare yourselves with bollywood and show your inferiority complex..

Am just saying that shahrukh khan movies are mostly inspired or lifted from somewhere. There are many south indian movies that are lifted but more original movies come from the south..Although acting talents exist like Amitabh, Rajesh Khanna...they are not even 10 paisa compared to Al Pacino, Marlon Brando...You gotta be kidding to compare them with ordinary bollywood actors who shamelessely agree to copy the roles..shame on all indian movies

Although fans are those who are blind towards every mistake of their hero, one should atleast learn how to differenciate between real performers and a commercial star. The variation in roles and the intesity which Jack Nicholson has done is far more greater than any of AB's movies or actually most other indian commercial hero. Shashi kapoor, Naseeruddin, pankaj kapoor, Amrish Puri have done more versatile and extreme roles in earlier days when there was only one kind of cinema understood by most people. Although admittedly Raj kapur was pioneer in using cinema for portraying different aspects of life.

i raj i also see hindi movies. none can beat 2 actors in our country - Kamal and Mohan lal. Go and watc Mahanadhi and Anbe sivam and then u will realize what i am talkin about the all time great. Amitabh, Shahrukh are good entertainers in their times. they are just stars. kamal and mohan lal are super heroes as well as great artist.kamal can give one week of confirmed house full. i have mentioned 2 movies of kamal above but they are more than dozen movies which can be compared with hollywood movies in terms of performances.

Amitabh is a good entertainer like what is Shahrukh today...they are stars...and legends when it comes to grabbing people to theatres...but if their movie is not upto the mark, theatres are deserted just in a weeks time...so dont compare with the above three big guns...if you want to compare and also find better actors than Al pac, jack and De Niro, then we might have Dilip Kumar, Kamal Hassan and Amir khan etc etc... give them any role and they will make it to perfection...talk about acting when it is the concern,,,not popularity...
