I welcome the intention behind the promoters of this program and feel good for carnatic music. But I think this program won't have a mass appeal as carnatic music is predominately learnt and practised by forward caste people in the south. There needs to be an intitative by the music academy to impart carnatic music to different castes and sects so that there is mass interest, support and involvement. Hope this program brings out that!!!

exactly!! Even if people from other castes are masters in Carnatic music, to perform at Music Academy Or Narada Gana Sabha it is said to be extremely difficult. The same with Bharathanatyam or Mohiniattam!!
We have many people from castes other than brahmins in South who are better musicians.

lets understand and appreciate the reality. Brahmins are more interested in carnatic music than others, because of their life style. So, their number and contribution is high. Its simple to understand, go to any brahmins house and see the environment. Is it same as others, no. So, please don't ask for reservation in Music Academy and Narada gana sabha.

I am a brahmin. However I think music, especially carnatic music is preserve of no particular caste. In fact the best Carnatic musician ever, MS Subbalakshmi, was not a brahmin (but Isai vellalar). Carnatic music is the mother of all music. It was makes ur base strong to churn out melodious movie music also.

those days have changed. People have realized that learning Carnatic is a gateway to film songs. More and more people are learning carnatic irrespective of caste or religion
With the western and filmi music making waves most of the youngsters are going away from classic indian music and this stance by carnatica will certainly help budding singers to improve their reach and talent. Certainly need a pat and support for them to continue their career as carnatic musician.
Dear Organisers, Kindly arrange to telecast the same on a TV channel. I am sure it is going to be exciting and at the same time, carnatic music can be popularised.
