Great debut by Ram

excellent rendering of the role by Jeeva and an amazing performance by Anjali. Very refreshing change from the run of the mill masaala films which plague tamil cinema. Wish these two artistes a very bright future.

An exceptional film , but not for masala film lovers
by Ariv Azagan on Nov 25, 2007 12:09 PM

This is entirely a different movie. But many folks will not accept because they are still captivated by hero-centric movies. I agree that the message in Katrathu Tamizh was not clear. Do we really watch a movie for message? What messages do you get from the recent movies like Sivaji or Paruthiveeran? One became hit for Rajni & Shankar and the other one for the so-called nativity. If one accepts Paruthiveeran a good movie then Katrathu Tamizh should also be accepted as a good movie. In Paruthiveeran, the character of the hero is depicted as a village rowdy who does all the nasty activities. He does everything for his pleasure right from inviting an innocent guy to play cards and taking away his money; taking away the girl brought by two lorry drivers for their pleasure; cutting off a policeman%u2019s ear just for nothing and etc., etc. Is he is an ordinary human being? Isn%u2019t he a psychopath?? In Katrathu Tamizh the same character has been shown in a different environment as psychopath. We don%u2019t complain about Paruthiveeran character like we complain about Prabhakar character, because Tamil Directors have put the Tamil audience in such a state.

Take for instance Anniyan. The film shows that a person kills the one who is not helping. Consider this scene: When a pedestrian was hit by a car and was lying bleeding on a roadside, the hero tries to get a lift in a car to rush the bleeding man to the hospital. Many cars, autos do not stop except one car. But the car owner refuses to ta

An exceptional film that stands out with its extremely honest narration and brilliant making. The film ofcourse has flaws like anyother masterpiece will have. Thought provoking yet not Pretentious. Kudos Mr.Ram. I'd put Mr.Ram with the league of new wave film makers like Anurag Kasyap.

Dear Vijay & masala Actors/Directors,
Please Vijay & masala Actors/Directors dont act in movies like pokiri..full masala.. If movies like Katarthu Tamil takes tamil cinema one step forward.. your movies take tamil cinema 2 step backward..
try to act in good story movies.. or else please leave the industry and make way for good movies..

I stopped watching Tamil films in Theatres because of these Vijay, Rajini kind of Masala actors. We Tamils are the sole reason for their success. By making Katrathu Tamil as huge hit, we should teach them a lesson. I'll watch this movie in a Theatre. I hope many will feel take decision like mine.

why not many messages here
by vimalan sadhasivam on Oct 08, 2007 04:11 AM

why not many messages here including the bad ones..people talk bad things only when they see articles related to Rajini or Vijay or Ajith and don't appreciate when there are good movies like this..tamil industry comes up with these good movies all the time along with the masala entertainers..for any industry to survive it needs both kind of movies..its only the mentality of people who want to jump into and talk bad when there are bad movies and don't appreciate when there are good ones..
