@Krishna Sumanth,

I can understand your emotion about the artistic movies. But do understand the economics of the film industry. Film Industry cannot survive without the commercial movies. If producers want to make artistic movies, the people who are hungry for mass movies will shift their loyalty to Tamil Movies or Bollywood movies. So to keep up with the momentum, we need to produce commercial movies and at the same time we need movies like Bommarillu or Vishwanth kind of movies. A commerical film with artistic values like 'ToliPrema', Geetanjali will be a rare case.

And regarding Hero beating 100 goons, though its unnatural almost every film industry follows this not just Telugu. But yes, this kind of stuff need to be omitted.

commercial n artistic telugu movies rock
by narendra reddy on Nov 29, 2007 12:54 PM  | Hide replies

There are good telugu commercial as well as art movies....it is just thatcommercial movies get publicised more as they make more money??not just in AP but in india...sholay( makes more money than pather panchali(art cinema)so who wants to make art movies???the key is to make realistic movis with commercial touch so that it reaches as many audience as they can...and the perfect example of this is recent telugu blockbuster happy days which is running housefulls even now although it has all newcomers....(hindi n tamil directors have already bought the rights of the movie).Commercial Telugu movies rock always.now with recent art movies like bommalattam(best child actor-national award),sira,morning raga and vanaja(art films) telugu movies rock in an way.have u guys forgotten the ever so famous artistic telugu movies like alluri seetharama aju,eenadu,shankarbaranam,sagara sangamam,sruthilayalu,devalayam,swathimuthyam,anthu leni katha(never ending story),swayamkrushi,apadhbandavudu,siri siri muvva,natya mayuri(art films) and many more???

Did u see the film? No one watches these kinds of films in A.P. People here still watch a) Hero beating the blues out of 100 goondas b) Old heroes romancing heroines 1/3rd their age c) Heroes doing all the good things in the world kind of movies.

Age old formula based stuff, For every theory, there's an exception and 'Vanaja' is one such exception. Hope A.P gets matured enough to watch these kinds of movies

very true.....not just in AP...art films dont make money anywhere else......the key is to make sensible cinema.....and man u guys shud go n watch happy days,anand,godavari,bommarillu or kannada movie mungaru male if u want to see real telugu cinema with artistic touch...i am sure once it release we will definetely watch(but obviously it cant release on scale of a shahrukh or mahesh babu movie right)andhra audience are the best....they watch good cinema from any language...unlike tamils who watch good cinema only from their language and call other good stuff a crap...for tamilians tamil movies are best in universe(MY foot).any of you guys heard abt telugu movie bommalattam(it won national award this year for best child artist ,a kid who was picked up from streets....and they are gonna release the movie soon after it gets enough publicity...anyways i am happy for another telugu gem from rajaneesh i.e vanaja which has already won 15 internaional awards all over the world.

Good Narendra. I agree with you on most of the points. The whole point is just that we don't get to see these films. We are overawed by the senseless films from the "BIG" stars who and whose films have no takers outside A.P. The films listed by you are 'good' films (better ones in the sample space....FYI, i saw all of them), but for me not anywhere close to the best in India. Also, these are just a handful of decent flicks in the last 10 years, right?

very true....commecercial movies in telugu rock....in terms of revenue tollywood ,its very close bollywood.haven't u guys heard of mahesh babu's pokiri(higest grosser in south india) the second higest grosser in indian cinema after gadar-ek prem katha which has beaten even shahrukh n hritik's movies in collections...its remake tamil version was a superhit too...and its remake of hindi version with salman(wanted dead or alive) is also gonna be a big hit if a good director directs it.have anyone watched a artistic movie Aa naluguru(four of them) which was even a hit with the audience...who can forget anand,godavari,n more recently blockbuster happy days(even this is being made in hindi n tamil.the producers from other languages were dieing to buy the rights of the movie by our fav director shekhar kammula who blnds art n commerciality in the most sensible way
