Miracle??? Have you seen Miracle? Firstly, its about HOCKEY and not FOOTBALL. Secondly, Goal is inspired from Munich plane crash which is a true story...Miracle is totally different.
If you see any sports movie, there are bound to be few similarities...like a team coming out from no where and winning...
Stop bashing such movies unnecessarily...Chak De was very good and I am sure Goal would be even better!

What if Chak De is copied, how many Indians have seen Miracle but most of them have seen Chak De. Some people can't do anything in their Life and these are the people who discourage everything like some of them are above.

Part two of the story....

During an exhibition game against the Norwegian National Team in Oslo that ends in a 3-3 tie, Brooks notices the players are distracted and not playing up to their potential. After the game, in a wrenching scene, he makes them run "Herbies" as punishment for their lack of effort. Although the arena empties and the lights are turned off, Brooks continues the brutal drill; several players are on the verge of collapse; Doc Nagobads gets angry and accuses Brooks of sabotaging his players but Brooks wouldn't listen. Finally exhausted forward Mike Eruzione shouts, "Mike Eruzione, (from) Winthrop, Massachusetts;" when Brooks asks him "Who do you play for?," Eruzione responds with the answer that Herb had wanted all along, "I play for the United States of America!" Brooks then concludes the drill.

Copy Or Not?
by Jeet on Nov 20, 2007 02:28 PM

The last movie of this director was a remake, rather a lift off, from "the usual suspects". I wonder is this a copy too?

And to say that he is proud of his work? Put your own shoes, man and start crawling atleast.

story of miracle
by jijo baby on Nov 20, 2007 01:59 PM  | Hide replies

The movie chronicles the journey of the 1980 US Olympic Men's ice hockey team. The opening credits feature a montage of the 1970s, depicting events such as Watergate and the Iran hostage crisis. Then University of Minnesota head coach Herb Brooks (played by Kurt Russell) interviews with the United States Olympic Committee, discussing his philosophy on how to beat the Soviet team. Despite the fact that they seem very skeptical of his ambitious goal, Brooks is hired.

Brooks meets his assistant coach Craig Patrick at the tryouts in Colorado Springs. However, Brooks has already preselected a preliminary roster of 26 -- later to be cut to a final roster of 20 -- indifferent of the tryouts and the preferences of USOC hockey members. Brooks tells Patrick, "I'm not looking for the best players, I'm looking for the right ones." He convinces Walter Bush, the executive director of the committee that he has the best interests at heart. Brooks says that he selected these 26 players through preparation in advance, talking with coaches and scouts about the players. Bush sides with Brooks and agrees to take the heat from the committee, saying, "I'll back you up on this one."

During the initial practice, tempers flare as forward Rob McClanahan and defenseman Jack O'Callahan get into a fight based on their college rivalry. Brooks lectures the players that they are to let go of old rivalries and start becoming a team. He then calls for introductions, in which each player states his name,

Film making is an art, its not for mere entertainment. Films say lots during their play. In india 99% of movie goers just go to see a film to shed off their tensions and problems by entertaining themselves by watching a film. A film is a film, dont drag stuffs like NRI, ethinic feeling. Thats what indian movie goers do, so movie makers in india make foolish movies to please the audience and forget the art of story telling. Thats the only reason we are far behind hollywood. So if you are getting much "Desh Bhakti" feeling, dont waste money on watching a film, donate to Prime Minister's Relief Fund. It was just my opinion.

I dont think Chak de will help in promoting Goal. Chak de target audience was Indians and India winning the world cup. Here they are planning to screen Manchester United where not an indian plays for the team. fingers crossed, BEST OF LUCK for GOAL team.

Most of the ppl. on this forum are taking statements to literally for thier own benefits.
Guys the director sais that Chak De will help Goal as both are "Sports" movies. Thats where it ends.
Why do we have to compare 2 movies. They have 2 different story lines, 2 completely different star casts. Lets give each its own due place and lets decide how good is Goal on its own.

And for all those who cannot stop harping about Chak De being a copy of Miracle, - PLEASE.
Have you heard of Mir Negi and his life story. This is based on his experience mainly.
If you are seeing similarities between some other "Hollywood move" then as someone rightly put - you will always see those similarities in any sports movie where the protagonist is the underdog.

Has anyone harped ever about the endless similarities in all our lovey dovey movies. For crying out loud its the same storty over and over - with almost the same star cast.

Guys, get the perspective.
