Well to be honest, I am an Indian living in Moscow for the past 8 years and all the talks about SRK and Indian movies is Hype. No one I repeat wanted to promote Indian Movies in Russia.
In Soviet Times it was a government move because all was state run and yes Hollywood was not encouraged at all. Bollywood was the best option they had.
You would all be surprised to know that till today the song from Disco dancer %u201CJimmy Jimmy%u201D is played in sexed out remixed versions
People very well know SRK and Madhuri Hema Malini Anil Kapoor Mithun Da etc.
I can give you 100's of Russian websites where young ppl like me and some Russian friends of mine who study in the university learning Hindi as major help translate Indian Movies in Russian we dub new movies as a very good language exercise
If Indian people come forward and support us there is a big taking for Indian movies.
All what is mentioned above by some student is Balls and Bananas... the same guy Nikhil Lakshman posted a video of a Russian guy singing Hindi songs I happen to know this guy in real life.
It all comes from the love of Bollywood and indian culture and the singer shown in the Video is not far from the best that I know of, soon I will post certain Videos that will put some sense into ppl. People who post such articles should know that little of knowledge can be dangerous.... LMAO .... L'Oreal Ads...

I am Russian and registered just to tell you that Russians love SRK! But suprise suprise you do not even have Russia in your country drop down menu! So who are you to say that SRK did not conquere Russia? On what bases? Did you bother to investigate? Whoever wrote this piece , should to ASK RUSSIANS!! Not some Indian who studies in Russia or may be you should browse Russian internet just in case. There are plenty forums for Russian speaking SRK fans! And those SRK fans are pretty much known in Indian community in Moscow. GO AND ASK!!YOU DO NOT KNOW RUSSIAN? YOUR PROBLEM! EVEN SRK KNOWS ABOUT HIS RUSSIAN FANS! SHAME ON YOU REDIFF!!!
SRK himself has admitted that he could not cut it in Hollywood. He has done well among the Indian filmgoers through his undoubted marketing skills. For that he has remained provincially an Indian phenomenon given mostly to his antics as a college student. At his age, it shows the limitations of his acting ability, which is on par with the other Khans. What this shows is the rather poor taste of the Indian audience rather than the good tastes of the Russians.

SRK beats Tom cruise in terms of business of OSO and Lions of the Lambs not others.Yeah offcourse some magazines had stated that even SRK is the most popular actor of the world.But thats relative measure.Bcoz apart from some people who understand hindi,not many others see hindi movie.There r few who only watch hindi movie outside the subcontinent.But all see hollywoods movies and we Indians also see those movies.Infact many r tom cruise's fans. And in terms of acting thats uncomparable.Tom is way ahead in acting.

Hello, By the way do U people know that Tom Cruise gets more than $100Million per movie. He so far is the highest paid actor in the world. Look wise I think our Hrithwik is better than Tom Cruise or Brad Pritt. Even white people accept that also. StupidRukh can ONLY do Stupid dances etc for the tired Thelawala and Rickshawalas. I feel like a monkey is dancing and that monkey can talk also.Plz don't compare Hindi movies with American movies. Hindi movies are 3 hhour long boring as well as tiring videos.

I dont know who is SRK? But I only know that he is a popular figure all over the world. So I agree with Mr. Nandy that we are actually blind follower of west & USA. And that is so much that we ca not digest our own Indian's success there. Above a writers called MR. Collins & Mr. Tanmoy actually representative of those huge population of our country who after being an Indian still think about west, eat west & dream about west. For these people actually we are still backward country after having everything. Please wake up guys. Please.

Um dear despite of criticising just think wat he is telling, just he mean to say If U can't rise then don't criticise others.Any actor who respresents India is an Identity for Indians. Don't always criticise its better to think before criticising.
