Guys hold it. SRK is the star of past-91 generation when USSR got dissolved and India got liberalized. In the 50s and 60s, the Indian filmmakers were capitalists and feudal in work and socialists on screen. As a result, they found good market for their movies in the Communist countries as entertainment options for the audience were restricted. SRK's entry and the change in this situation happened simultaneously. And what difference does it make if he is not a global star? To make movies in India and succeed for more than 15 years is an achievement by itself. And he or any one before or after him becomes a superstar because people watch their films willingly. Maratha Mandir Cinema Hall in Mumbai is not a charitable institution that they will screen DDLJ for 6 years. They did it because it sells and that's what matters. Just because you have been digen the right to express, don't undermine anyone's achievement. At least SRK is known in India. Are you known outside your building?

Sorry to accept that he is a good actor. He is a star for sure, as the mass love it. But mainly it is the teenagers or twenty something kids...right now SRK is about 40 and have done many movies, but yet to impress with his acting capabilities. Some of the recent movies are somewhat better, but I think its more of a craze than acting. Hence he is a below average actor, and does not compare to Amir Khan, Big B or Mithun. Just my thoughts, an hope that does not hurt you.

critics have a place, regardless if they are a household name only in their household.
given a free run, our over celebrated bollywood actors will claim their place amongst the real stars. the real talent in the indian movie industry lies beyond the song and dance courtyard, and in the backyard of naseruddin shahs, boman iranis and others. ironically, after years and years of movie industry being around, directors and producers like karan johar would rather risk their money on yet another sweet and sticky love story than on a real script (claiming, real scripts dont make money, while 80-90% of sweet and sticky movies tank at the box office)

oh no you are promoting your website, with a motive. spamster.
SRK himself has admitted that he could not cut it in Hollywood. He has done well among the Indian film goers through his undoubted marketing skills. For that has remained provincially an Indian phenomena given mostly to his antics as a college student. At his age, it shows the limitations of his acting ability which is on par with the other Khans. What this shows is the rather poor taste of the Indian audience rather than the good tastes of the Russians.

well said.
shah rukh excelled in fauji the serial, or similar movies that required an edgy, hyper actor. he's somehow been retro-fitted into many melodramtic movies too, and he continues to act in them with a stupid grin/frog in the throat expression - and thats claimed as mindblowing acting.

you must wake up and smell the coffee buddy, a person does NOT become a superstar by having a few teenage fans. Besides you wouldn't be reading this article on SRK if you weren't fascinated by him like the rest of the world!! lol
