Sawariya - movie of the millenium
by aman on Nov 13, 2007 06:03 AM

very nice movie.Saawariya by Sanjay Leela Bhansali is rich in visuals, arguably the best Indian film with such stunning cinematography, brilliant acting by the two newcomers and a completely different genre of storytelling. The narration is a first of its kind in In...(read more)dia and may not connect with everyone, hence the huge amounts of criticism the film is receiving. This is a difficult film to make, and Mr.Bhansali does it with conviction. Special mention of Ranbir and Sonam, who have protrayed such difficult roles with brilliance! Music my Monty is full of melody and the bacground score adds class to the film. The only flaw in my opinion is the film's lenght. Overall, Saawariya is a top class product from the most celebrated director of our country. Indian cinema needs a revival and to go global, this is just what films like Lagaan, Swades, Black and Saawariya are doing. 5 out of 5.

Saw Saawariya....its gorgeous.
For people who love to read, who get lost in make believe worlds like Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley in Harry Potter, or the fantasy world of the Hobbit, this movie is a must. You dont question its magic, you simply enjoy it. The climax leaves you filled with a deep sense of longing, and I think this is where the audience feels let down. They are supposed to. The injustice of Ranbir's loss is supposed to make you feel powerless. It is like losing the jackpot by one number. The unmoving, sullen Sakina who almost has you fooled when she shows glimpses of a childlike girlishness ultimately lets your hopeful besotted hero down. You just get a glimpse of Iman(Salman) to be happy for her.(It is Salman after all!!), but not so much that it takes away from Ranbir's heartbreak.
The two new stars are fabulous. Their inexperience only adds to their fresh appeal and makes them more endearing to the viewer. Ranbir has that star quality, he can achieve anything from this point on. Sonam is absolutely unique. In a world where all the girls look like they are manufactured from a plastic assembly line with the streaked hair, the blindly-aping-western-fashion look, this girl is such a stunner.
I am now looking forward to seeing OSO. Us desis in the USofA are too happy to get a double bonanza to care about taking sides. why choose when you can have it all??

Saawariya

Irrespective of any rating and comments by any one this movie has to be good. Young couple is really heart breaking for many. People earlier used to compare SRK with AB although SRK is not even 1% nearer to AB. But now the very reason when SRK of OSO is being being compared with Saawariya, it shows how good this movie must be. Teleclipping are the bests. Kapoors are the only people making best love making sceen on the screen.

Watch SAAWARIYA at ur own risk...!!!!

2:30hr of TORTURE....How can he make such blunders? I was simply shocked to see this kind of stuff from Bhansali. I m sure he was very clear in his mind that he can't compete with King Khan's OSO that's y he released his movie on the same day...Diwali was also a big factor to bring lot of crowd in the theatres. Just by having lavish sets and by doing Extra Ordinary Publicity you can't make a hit movie. Movie shd give some or the other message to the viewers or to the society...However,the only message what i got is "%uFFFD you are not feeling sleepy do watch SAAWARIYA"

Mr. Bhansali we expect lot better results from you.....But Obviously not this kind of stuff..Hope next time we shd see something good from u.

Saawariya is a nightmare!!
by Orange Rose on Nov 13, 2007 01:19 AM

Looks like Sanjay Bhansali was full of over-confidence when he conceived Saawariya. Riding on the success of Black. Perhaps, the Kapoors had a meeting to launch their kids and decided to pitch in the dough and hire Bhansali. Bhansali was riding the wave of success, asked his ridiculous price and also forbade the seasoned stars as Rishi-Neetu and Anil to not interfere. Bhansali had good money at disposal and he wanted to try out a "concept" which had never been tried in Indian Cinema. Some crap monotonous "blue backgrounds" and black and white clothes. I wish he had called me for a story. The movie is more like an advertisement on Ranbir and Sonam and less like a movie. After watching it I knew that Ranbir could act, dance, emote etc etc but my money on the tickets had gone waste.
Sonam is trying hard to look pretty but is "horsy". Ranbir is star material but it takes a lot MORE to be successful than star material. He got to have intellect to choose his movies and stay away from self-obsessed directors. It was an ugly sight to see so many close-ups of Zohra Sehgal. I didnt find that amusing. Rani had no role to play and perhaps Mr. bhansali asked her or forced her to play a part as a "thank You" to Mr.Bhansali making her India's no.1 heroine after Black. Ms Mukherjee, needs to stop doing such crap appearances or I may have to boycott her movies.
I'll be happy to note that Mr.Bhansali's price drops after this release atleast with the Distributors whose houses may have got auc

bhansali's strategy
by Ragavan Raman on Nov 13, 2007 01:08 AM  | Hide replies

sanjay leela bhansali knew his film is not going to do as well as Black did...so his strategy was to release saawariya same day as OSO , cuz he knew people will watch his film just to compare the two...otherwise noone is going to watch the torture..and he was right!
