Sorry,
Kannada people don't deserve that. They are 'goody goody' people who cannot do much. cannot insult othes directly. No self respect.
(I don't think u r a kannadiga - theyare not assertive)
They try their best to talk in another language when the other language people - no self respect unlike Bengalis or Tamilians or even Punjabis. Any way, I don't like to prolong this discussion as this is about films. SOrry that I already wrote on impulse reading your response. I think Shankar should not have started this.

amazing response from fellow bongs here
by dipesh bhattacharya on May 28, 2007 12:42 AM

I must say I am pleasantly surprised by the mature response on this board by fellow Bongs inspite of a scathing attack and lots of provocations. For instance, all the responses having been articulate and poignant and WITHOUT degrading other regions in India. That's great debating skills. I know what I am proud of.

Satyajit Ray - A genius par excellence
by veekay on May 28, 2007 12:00 AM  | Hide replies

I was fortunate to be around at the time when this Genius was around making his masterpieces. One just has to see Pather Panchali to see the kind of genius he was.

P.s - I am not a bengali, but does it matter ? Just a proud Indian to say this Genius was one of ours.

A National Treasure!
by Moumita Boral on May 27, 2007 08:05 PM  | Hide replies

Lets not harp about that Satyajit Ray was a Bengali from 'Bong Desh' and so on come on he is a National Treasure- A pride of India and all Indians. A director par excellence who has won Oscars for his lifetime contribution in movies. Its an honour for India not Bengalis alone. Iam a Bengali myself but still I feel that people like Satyajit Ray should be given respect that is above religion, culture and creed and should not be confined to one language only. We are all Indians first then Punjabi, Bengali or South Indian. Problem is this disunity amongst us creates all sorts of discord and we should avoid. Satyajit Ray or Raj Kapoor (who represented India in Russia and helped our govt. that time in bringing help to our poverty stricken country from them)are true Indians and any person who rises above and creates name for the country is an Indian first and then something else. So lets just enjoy the accolades and adulation that they receive and feel proud and inspired to do things that makes us and our country proud.

Touching gesture indeed. We all have to remember that no single state can move forward alone but all of us combined can defintely make the country go forward. No doubt that Satyajit Ray, Raj Kapoor and many more have been icons for India.Lets celebrate the great works of all of them as one "Indians" and be proud of this.
