RE:Why Rediff Always Give 3-4 Rating to Hollywood Movies?
by Shohini DasGupta on Jun 01, 2007 01:28 PM
Well pirates have managed 1. So that should say something finally for Rediff's great love for Hollywood???
I am aghast and appaled to the level we Indians can disagree on just about everything. And also disagree in rather rabid manner.
Why do comments on almost any subjects from Cartoons to Computers have to be involve Caste, Religion, Language,Food, Racism, Region et al.
While it shows how much 'Depth' we as Indians have, but also shows how 'Low' we can stoop down, on just about anything. Its a miracle, India exists as one Country. Does'nt take much to provoke another.

Rediff readers, Every time a review appears on rediff, tons of messages in favor or otherwise are posted. I personally think reviewing a movie is a very personal experience. The kind of movies one likes or dislikes tells a lot about one's character. Before we read a review about a movie we should be able to review the reviewer. Let me clarify what I am talking about here. If the reviewer informs the readers about his/her all time favorite movies in different categories (action, comedy..etc) before he begins to review the movie in question, then the reader would have an idea as to where the reviewer is coming from. For example, if I think "Jaane bhi do yarron" was the best comedy ever made and "Saving Private Ryan" the best action, I immediately project my bias towards the movie in question. It would also be a good idea to tell the reader what is the worst comedy/action according to the reviewer. This would stop the reader from reading the review if the reviewer likes doesnt matches with his or her idea of a good movie.
