Sureys aaa?? Ur statment is more like a passage for critical review abundant baseless conclusions, from GRE man. My Fellow Students who have given that exam woudl know better. Salamn is popular..and coming to that statement you made....srk is god when compared to Salamn khan when it comes 2 acting no doubt. Salamn did have some good movies in the 90's perhaps but after which he just shut himself man! sad movies thats all hes got! bluky lump he's turned out 2 be. Srk on the other hand is a better actor anyday. Drop of the hat he can cry with his nose all being focussed upon(acting apparently :D). Anywayz srk is far better man!

SRK a flop star

Well farah khan last movie "main ho na" was a stupid one but did moderately good business. With om shanti om she is tried to revive Naseeb. Actually SRK is going thrugh a rough phase now. His KBC was called off after much hype but poor anchoring and his last release Don remained alive to only a handfull of SRK fans. So Farah khan was smart enough to understand that put all those stars in a song, just to create hype among people. But can all these save the movie. Well Naseeb was a big hit those days. beacuse there was Amitabh in it. With SRK failing everytime whenever he tries to copy Amitabh this looks as an impossible task ahead.

I m working in Dubai.. people are crazy abt. all 3 Khans and only Amitabh Bacchans not Jr. Bacchan and rest of the actors only by name wise nothing else.. listen plz. dont take religion middle in between this topics. try to respect all religion.. And I m fan of both Gr. Bacchans and All Khans..but only thing is tat business of Bollywood is depends upon this Khans only whether in India or abroad.. My wish is to see all 3 Khans with Gr. AB in one movie.. So Best of Luck Farah Khan.. I liked your movie Main Hoo Na.. I m waiting for Om Shanti Om..

well zameer, as per acting talents are concerned aamir is much better than srk. srk is a good actor but he repeats himself (mostly lovestories and jumping in chopra and karan johar banners).. we all know what was the fate of swades and paheli.. if it had not been chopra and johar banner i do not thing he would hv been so succesful as he do not hv variety in his acting.. a real actor can is the one who could do any role with ease. take Big B and Aamir, I doubt whether any actors in the industry today would try to take the roles which this guys have done. Can u imagine srk playing the role of pathan like Big B performed in Khuda Gawah, or the famous vijay dinananth chavan, tiger fm hum and many others. May be it a comedy, romantic, serious, tapori or a angry young man role Big B hv pull it out with very ease..
another actor who is cls to pull out such performances is Aamir khan..
SRK is a good actor when it comes to comedy and romantic, but overall he far to behind in terms of acting skill compare to Big B and Aamir Khan..
All this year he have survived in this industry on the courtesy of Johar's and Chopra's and today trying to compete a legend of 60 years who is giving him a hard time...

u have got it wrong...srk....does not with work with big banners...it is the presence of srk that has made the johar and the chopra banner so big....ADITYA CHOPRA...FIRST FILM HAD SRK...DDLJ...THE BUSSINESS... ddlj...made yashraj films..the biggest banner in the country...and karan johar...was nothing...untill srk agreed to work with him in kuch kuch hota hai...and the rest is history...JUST SEE KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI...K3G..KAL HO NA HO..AND SUDDENLY..dharma prods...has become a big banner...same with yashraj...aditya chopras second film mohobaatein also had srk in the lead...the sucess of mohonattein, darr, ddlj, dil toh paagal hai has made yashraj films so big...so if these BANNERS ARE BIG THATS BECOZ OF SRKS STAR POWER....and ppl are not fools to put30-40 crores at stake for any fool....srk guarentees SUCESS THATS the reason why ppl choose him

In fact, after Amitabh, it is Amir who has made lesser known (albeit talented) directors big names and that incudes Farah Khan as well, who was given the first time choreography opportunity by Amir, along with his brother Mansoor (don't remember name). trace back his films and see for yourself. Even our Farhan Akhtar, whose Don we exclaim.

The Shah Rukh Khan Phenomenon
by Mustafa Ansari on May 07, 2007 08:11 PM  | Hide replies

%u201CShah Rukh Khan is Shah Rukh Khan.%u201D %u201CThere%u2019s no one like Shah Rukh Khan.%u201D %u201CNobody can match Shah Rukh Khan%u2019s Popularity.%u201D These and similar statements are commonly heard. And not just in the film trade but also among the general public.

What is it that makes Shah Rukh Khan so different from the others of his ilk? Why in the last 15 years have we never had any actor who has had the same fan following and who could clearly step into his shoes? What is it that really has made Shah Rukh Khan stand above all the other stars who%u2019ve come after the superstar first made an appearance on the screen in 1992 in Deewana?

Quite simply, Shah Rukh Khan%u2019s string of box-office hits! One after the other, the actor%u2019s films hit the jackpot with such alarming regularity that in the nineties and 2000%u2019s, Shah Rukh Khan became the safest bet for producers, distributors and exhibitors alike. I use the world alike to differentiate the scene that existed when Shah Rukh Khan is the numero uno and the one that exists now.

For instance, a Salman Khan today may guarantee mega-bucks for the producers of his films but there%u2019s no like guarantee that distributors and exhibitors of his starrers will also make money. As in the case of most of his releases before his latest, Tere Naam. While producers of Salman-starrers made table profits, distributors of his films burnt their fingers rather badly when those films flopped. It was after almost two-three years that everybody associated with a Salman-starrer made money in Tere Naam.

Ditto in the case of films of other topline stars like Aamir Khan or others like Ajay Devgan, Akshay Kumar, Sunny Deol or, for that matter, anybody else. Why, even current heartthrob Hrithik Roshan%u2019s films such as Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage and Na Tum Jaano Na Hum entailed heavy losses to its distributors. That is not the case with Shah Rukh Khan Flicks.

Secondly, merely the superstar%u2019s name is enough to draw in the crowds into cinemas in any given day. Today, no hero can boast of such charisma as to lure the audiences to theatres on the sheer strength of their names. Salman Khan%u2019s home production, Auzaar and Hello Brother, could not even manage decent houses on the opening day, leave alone full houses. Aamir Khan has never really drawn initial crowds; his starrers usually pick up by word of mouth publicity if they are good. Even action heroes like Ajay Devgan and Akshay Kumar had had to remain content with dismal opening of their flicks on more occasions then one.

But the Shah Rukh Khan magic is one of a kind. Whether it was Aziz Mirza%u2019s Raju Ban Gaya Gentlemen in 1992 or Yash Chopra%u2019s evergreen Darr in 1993, Rakesh Roshan%u2019s multi-star cast Karan Arjun in 1995 or Aditya Chopra%u2019s All Time Blockbuster Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge in 1995, Shah Rukh Khan%u2019s first film with Aishwarya Rai - Josh - in 2000 or Farah Khan%u2019s biggest entertainer, Main Hoon Naa in 2004, the two common features in all these hits were Shah Rukh Khan%u2019s towering presence in them and a bumper box-office initial draw. Yes Boss, Pardes and Dil To Pagal Hai made 1997 a memorable year for the King Khan. The following year may not have been as good but Shah Rukh Khan, nevertheless, did deliver massive hit Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in 1998.

The next decade was equally exciting for the superstar. Josh, Mohabbatein, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam, Devdas, Chalte Chalte, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Main Hoon Naa, Veer %u2013 Zaara, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna and Don - The Chase Begins Again is some of the actor%u2019s great hits of the first half of the 2000%u2019s.

Of course, when Shah Rukh Khan has reigned supreme, films did have to face the opposition of video and cable piracy. Cinema going was the expensive form of entertainment for the masses that identified with the Lover Boy image of Shah Rukh Khan. Still Shah Rukh Khan delivered Hit after Hit.

Yet another factor that went in Shah Rukh Khan%u2019s favour in making him the darling of all sections of society was his unbelievable versatility. It is not for nothing that the King Khan became a superstar. Although he was adored in Lover Boy roles, Shah Rukh Khan never let down his fans in Action films like Karan Arjun, Ram Jaane, Josh and Main Hoon Naa. Chatmkar and Baadshah come to mind instantly when one thinks of Shah Rukh Khan%u2019s flair for comedy. With equal ease, Shah Rukh Khan also played the intense lover as in Darr and Anjaam.

The range which Shah Rukh Khan portrayed in his performances remains unmatched. Today, films do businesses of Rs 10 and 15 crores it is considered good, but Shah Rukh Khan Movie%u2019s continuously do business of 30 Corer%u2019s .

Shah Rukh Khan is also the last star to have had a universal appeal that cut across geographical boundaries. Whether it was the man on the street in Ludhiana in the North or Latur down South, whether it was a company executive in Porbandar in Western India or a college student studying in Patna in East India, the fondness for Shah Rukh Khan is the same.

Today, a Sunny Deol runs more in Northern Indian because of his action image; a Akshay Kumar is a hot favourite of U.P. and Bihar whereas an Aamir Khan flick generally records dull collections in Bihar. That is to say, Shah Rukh Khan%u2019s charm affected the audiences in the North, South, East and West with equal intensity. Not just in India, but across the seven seas too, Shah Rukh Khan reigned supreme. His super-hit stage shows bore testimony to his immense popularity the world over.

Today when jubilees are difficult to get, Shah Rukh Khan%u2019s films celebrated genuine silver, golden, diamond and platinum jubilees. Mohabbatein in 2000 celebrated silver jubilee in as many as 9 cinemas of Mumbai, a record unparalleled! From 2000 onwards Shah Rukh Khan has 19 releases out of which 5 of his Movies completed Silver Jubliee, 2 golden Jubilee, 1 Diamond Jubliee and 1 Platinum Jublee. Whereas Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge turned out to be the highest running movie of Indian cinema 575 weeks .

It is not that only Shah Rukh Khan good movies were successful. Even the actor managed to make successes out of ordinary films like Anjaam, Ram Jaane, Army and Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam.

Did you know?
1. Shah Rukh Khan is the only actor who gave at least one successful every year since his debut in 1992 Deewana till 2006 Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna.
2. Shah Rukh Khan has acted in 4 films directed by Aziz Mirza (Raju Ban Gaya Gentlemen, Yes Boss, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani & Chalte Chalte). Rakesh Roshan (King Uncle, Karan Arjun & Koyla), Yash Chopra (Darr, Dil To Pagal Hai and Veer %u2013 Zaara) and Karan Johar (Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham & Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna) directed Shah Rukh Khan in 3 films each respectively. Abbas %u2013 Mustan (Baazigar & Baadshah), Aditya Chopra (Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge & Mohabbatein), Ketan Mehta (Maya Memsaab & Oh Darling Yeh Hai India) and Rajiv Mehra (Chamtkar & Ram Jaane) directed Super Star Shah Rukh Khan in 2 films each respectively.
3. Shah Rukh Khan has won 13 Filmfare Awards, Out of which 6 has been Best Actor Baazigar, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Dil To Pagal Hai, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Devdas and Swades, 2 Critic%u2019s Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa (Performance) and Mohabbatein (Best Actor), 2 Power Awards, 1 Villain Anjaam, 1 Debut Deewana and 1 Special Award Swiss Consulate Trophy.
4. Shah Rukh Khan was the 1st actor to win all popular awards for Devdas (Filmfare, Screen, Zee, Sansui, Bollywood Awards & IFFA), which was next year matched by Hrithik Roshan for Koi Mil Gayaa.
5. Shah Rukh Khan is the only actor who has given maximum hits with debut directors. Raj Kanwar (Deewana), Aziz Mirza (Raju Ban Gaya Gentlemen), Aditya Chopra (Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge), Karan Johar (Kuch Kuch Hota Hai), K.S.Adhiyaman (Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam), Nikhil Advani (Kal Ho Naa Ho) & Farah Khan (Main Hoon Naa).

KABHI KHUSHI KABHIE GHAM
%u201CShah Rukh Khan sparkles yet again. His character is such, you can't help but fall in love with this selfless man. And the actor performs it with amazing poise, class, honesty and maturity. His re-union with his mother and the father subsequently will prompt people to shed bucket-full of tears.%u201D

DEVDAS
%u201CShah Rukh Khan is mindblowing as Devdas. He plays his character with such finesse and aplomb that it is sheer delight to watch him. He evokes the right kind of emotions in the viewers' hearts, never once going overboard. He looks splendid and mesmerises the audience with his acting in many scenes. As a man madly in love, he proves that there could have been no better choice than him for the role.%u201D

CHALTE CHALTE
%u201CCHALTE CHALTE clearly belongs to Shah Rukh Khan, an actor par excellence. One actually runs out of adjectives and personifications if asked to describe this performance by the actor. Clearly his most natural and likeable performance since DILWALE DULHANIYA LE JAYENGE, Shah Rukh Khan surrenders himself completely to the script and delivers a performance that is bound to be a big hit with one and all.%u201D

KAL HO NAA HO
%u201COne can't imagine KAL HO NAA HO without Shah Rukh Khan. The actor delivers yet another bravura performance that he can be proud of, when he looks back in life. The role gives him immense scope to exhibit a gamut of emotions and the actor carries not just his role, but the entire film on his firm shoulders.%u201D

MAIN HOON NAA
%u201CMAIN HOON NAA reinforces your confidence in Shah Rukh Khan, the actor, the star. Portraying a mass-appealing character, the actor gives his best shot and delivers yet another power-packed performance. The role not only does full justice to his status as the country's super-star, but also as a performer. Besides, the two stunts in the film [his introduction and towards the finale] will silence his hardcore critics who felt that the actor was more comfortable handling the DILWALE DULHANIA LE JAYENGE, KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI and KAL HO NAA HO kind of roles.%u201D

VEER - ZAARA
%u201CVEER-ZAARA is another feather in Shah Rukh Khan%u2019s well decorated cap. The actor enacts the challenging role with amazing ease, putting his best foot forward and emerging trumps. It would indeed be difficult to imagine any other actor essaying the two diverse parts. Simply unforgettable!%u201D

SWADES
%u201CShah Rukh Khan is extremely likeable. He stands firm on his feet in dramatic sequences, confirming yet again that he's not merely a super-star, but a super actor as well.%u201D

PAHELI
%u201CIf you ever had an iota of doubt about Shah Rukh Khan's versatility, it would evaporate the moment you watch PAHELI. This is amongst Shah Rukh Khan's most accomplished performances ever. He is fabulous as the ghost and equally convincing as the bewildered husband.%u201D

KABHI ALVIDA NAA KEHNA
%u201CIn KABHI ALVIDA NAA KEHNA, the actors get a chance to shine and no one shines brighter than Shah Rukh Khan. Let's just state one thing here: This is Shah Rukh Khan's finest work after DILWALE DULHANIA LE JAYENGE. His sequences with Preity specifically, when the couple has their spats, or in the climax, when he just stares at Rani from inside the train, proves that he's undoubtedly the best in the business. The ferocity with which he delivers his lines and the restless energy he imparts to his character electrifies every scene that he's in.%u201D

DON - THE CHASE BEGINS AGAIN
%u201CThe new 'Don' starring Shahrukh Khan in the lead role is a modern and stylized version of the old one. Once again, viewers will be enthralled by King Khan's performance. It is definitely fair to say that SRK has done justice to Big B's character in the 1970's classic. Sharukh has given one of the most stylish performances of his entire career and this role played by Shahrukh will go down as one of his better roles essayed. The energy Shahrukh puts in the role makes the new Don a movie not only to be enjoyed but to fall in love with again. Hats off to him. If you thought he could only play romantic leads, watch Don for him as an action hero. He is just perfect. No other actor could have played Don so well after Amitabh Bachchan. It would not be wrong to say that Don could not be Don without Shahrukh.%u201D
