Rajamanikyam was the kind of mindless movies that is destroying the quality of malayalam movies. Anyway my question is, if the new movie's story revolves around a group of youngsters, where exactly does Mohanlal fit in. I hope he is not going to act as one of the youngsters. That is not just ridiculous but obscene to see a 50 year old man acting as a teenager. That should be left to people like Rajni and Kamal.

Sanjay Dutt did not act a youngster. You must be dreaming... The movie never claims he is a college chokra ... Having a 50 year Mohanlal act like college chokra will be too much. Amir in his 40s did act in RDB, but this is an exception to the rule. Amir looks much younger than 40 and in the movie he has failed couple of times to stick around college. But, Mohanlal as college student, Nah... Not even Rajni and Kamal Hassan. Those guys are old too. It's like old Hindi movies day when we had overgrown Dharmendra, etc. as college students. That trend has fortunately stopped. Today we do have young guys palying college students. I'm sure there are scores of Malaylam actors who are younger than Mohanlal eligible who resemble college student.

Hi Ms/Mr. abcxyz,

I agree with you 100%.

Sanjay, Amir and Mohanlal are good actors provided they choose the right roles.

Did you watch any Mohan Lal movie where he acts as a college chokra? Is so let us know..we might have missed some movies of his. The last movie that he acted as a college chokra was in 1984.

"That should be left to people like Rajni and Kamal"

What's the need to take potshot at Tamil Actors? All said and done the your film industry isn't at par with Tamil industry in terms of technical quality, market reach and entertainment value of tamil movies. Understand that Mr. Nayar.. or is it Nair?

I am sorry to say this. What is the meaning of entertainment value in Tamil Cinema. A hero comes bashes up the villians and they fly a few kilometers away. True there r occassional good cinemas in Tamil like Kathal, Veyil and the recent Mozhi. Other major hits r just remakes from other languages. Even the film touted as the biggest hit in Tamil Cinema 'Chandramukhi' is a remake of not one but Several films of above said Mohanlal. Other than Kamalhaasan which other actor in Tamil Cinema can u say has/can make a mark as an actor of International standard. Today the 2 superstars of Malayalam Cinema Mammootty & Mohanlal share between them 6 National Awards. Not to say the awards won by Suresh Gopi, Murali etc. Even the character actors of Malayalam Cinema is far better than those of Tamil Cinema or any other Language industry in India. A Prime eg is Chandramukhi and its Malayalam original Manichithrathazhu. In Chandramukhi Rajni in the beginning comes bashes up villians and dissappears and come back again but in Manichithrathazhu Mohanlal's first appearance is just before the interval. But we do not feel bored or restless until his appearance because that is the power of the character artists of Malayalam cinema. Regarding technical quality, rather than spending more money i dont think malayalam cinema any less back in technical excellence. In fact some of the best technicicans being sought after came from Malayalam cinema. Cameramen like Santhosh Sivan, Ravi k Chandran, S Kumar. Even Tamil cameren like KV Anand, Jeeva, Manikandan etc began from malayalam cinema. Even the acclaimed director Mani Ratnam first directed in Malayalam cinema then only he directed a Tamil cinems. Kamal Haasan & Vikram also had a successful run in Malayalam cinema

MR mohammed Marouf,

All said is fine. We accept that malayalam cinema produces the best movies.
But cinema is all about entertainment for the comman man, and all he expects at the theatre is some entertainment value for the money spent.

Ok...If keralites are so literate and watch only the so-called "good logical movies", could you explain why Tamil masala films like Chandramukhi, Pokiri etc went on to gross more than many malayalam super star movies ??

mr alphabets Malayalam cinema makes logical movies with entertainment value. Until recently comedy in hindi cinema was govinda appearing in funny clothes marrying 2 or 3 ladies and juggling between them. Hera Pheri is considered a classic now and a great comedy movie. Its original was in malayalam. Chandramukhi did not collect vey much in Kerala. There was an initial due to fan the base of Rajini in kerala. Then when people realised how silly the movie is compared to its malayalam original people didnt go for it. Similarly another Rajni movie Muthu a far inferior movie in presentation and technically than its malayalam original "Thenmavin kombathu". In fact the malayalam movie won national awards for its technical qualities. These r prime eg of entertainment as well as artistic quality of Malayalam cinema. And another thing the state of comedy of Tamil Cinema is pathetic.

My dear Sania,
can u tell me which state u belong to.Or for whom are u talking. Can u tell me how sanjay dutt(age 48) played a medical student in Munnabhai MBBS.Or Amir khan a college boy in RDb.The role didnt suit their age but we enjoyed the films. So plz dont abuse other language heroes based on their age etc.Atleast dont compare ur heroes with Mohanlal or Mammootty. They really know what is acting.
So if u half no other job read some good books or watch some good movies instead of talking abt things that u dont know at all.
