Just change the name and plot
by on Mar 12, 2007 09:47 AM  | Hide replies

If the name of the movie was "Bloodgirls" or "Killgirls" or "Gungirls" and story is a dark, grisly, unsettling thriller happening in a shady New York brothel with lotsa blood, gore and swear, our Rajabhai wouldve given it a 5 star rating.Eventhough I'vnt seen both the films in question(Dreamgirls,Apocalypto)one thing I pretty much know is our Mr.Sen is a huge disciple of Martin,Quentin school of dark thriller filmmaking. No doubt those are great filmmakers in their own rights but a good reviewer should not be prejudiced and subjective.I remember even "Walk the Line"was a crap according to Raja Sen.Its high time he gets his act together and work on providing "less controversial"reviews!

having said that, I must add that a bad film is a bad film regardless of genre -- or hype.

i just finished Dreamgirls.I would say its a wonderful movie and the musical has been well made as a film.Raja you need to go for a film appreciation course...and watch out for the beauty in the spirit rather then sitting hr and cribbing.

dont take raja seriously

Raja sen is just useless. He has one job and he is not good at at. Most of us are high IQ people probably holding good jobs and thus we can understand some movies or think beyond bollywood and appreciate other indian movies or unconventional movies but raja sen's IQ and common sense is very limited plus he probably has a low paying job and when south directors dont pay him he abuses them same with hollywood guys.Good thing is if he says the movie is bad go and watch it.

I sure did get fooled by the review. The movie is not as bad as its made out to be.In fact i found it watchable, songs were ok,a tad overdone.

Hello Dude,

Its a 5 * rated movie for the performance of will Smith. He shows what acting does really mean. Must watch for all.

If you so curious abt the review of the movie, I recommend to view the site http://imdb.com/title/tt0454921/ .

Real life story and Very original. Indian movies are missing it.

Cheers!

"Secondly, the Academy loves a story: A much-championed American Idol loser? Let's give her the prize."

But hold on Mr. Sen, weren't you yourself rooting for Marty? He did not deserve his Oscar either. :winks:

hmmm

guys, Jennifer Hudson made her debut in this movie and without any starry halo surrounding her persona, gave her role her soul and the oscar was for that! it was a recognition for someone who played the role as if it happened to her in real life

oscar worthy or not, watch this movie for Jennifer's heartbreaking voice - and yes, am just getting tired of Raja Senji and his 'impartial' reviews! he is becoming another Khaled Mohammad

So far he hasnt failed me, just do a 5-(Raja Sen's Rating) and decide to watch or not. Ex he was perfect with Eklavya, guru, Nishabd..
