RGV
by ratnajayant jayant gudavally on May 10, 2007 12:34 PM

Creativity also needs to grow day by day and catch up with new environs and changing tastes. Otherwise he will be referred to as a grandpa of RGV -istic moviefare.

Try Diffrent Actors
by chacko jacob v on Apr 05, 2007 03:09 PM

RGV needs to get some seriously good actors working with him. How about a film with Salmaan Khan? His actors and methods are getting repetitive. All his actresses have a Urmila hangover. How about a film with Preity Zinta?
How about getting an established actor like Anil Kapoor doing something radically different like playing a rapist villian? RGV has become predictable. That is the problem

RGV is still best
by ~Avin~ on Mar 26, 2007 08:50 PM

So far RGV is the only Director, whose films I enjoyed most in Bollywood these years. His film "Satya" is one of the best pathbreaking film Bollywood history. I think one and only kind of film which can't be reproduced. Every shot is memorable in that movie like Sholay.

And I think none of his other films are boring, they are alwyays good and watchable again and again. The problem is in bollywood becoz of changing trends every year...

Transition for Indian Cinema
by Sri Ranjan on Mar 13, 2007 04:02 PM

What is a hit movie? I'm sure we have our own take on it. A "Box office" hit, a "critically acclaimed" movie, a "film de Noir" production or something like a "tour de force" to reckon with. Ramu does not know what these categories are. He makes movies for the sake of making them and if some of us believe that he makes movies for himself, he is well entitled to. That's his freedom and we need to respect that. I have been following his interviews and his views on cinema very closely and he does not want to prove a point to anybody. He is not making movies to meet our expectations but making them to meet his. And let's not tribulate his freedom of expression but forcing our expectations on his movies. Cinema is a form of art that has to be experienced. It's gives us a chance to acknowledge our likes and dislikes. If you do not like what you see - close your eyes. Ramu believes in the same. I strongly believe that it takes guts to make movies that you believe in than make movies which others believe in. His thought process has opened new frontiers in Indian Cinema and we now see a drastic difference in the way films are shot, packaged and presented from what it used to be before. Ramu has revolutionized film making by taking the road less travelled. Technically, conceptually and economically - he's proved his point time and again. And not to forget - injected the industry with his proteges who are fighting tooth and nail to change the face of indian cinema. It's transition time and if we start pointing fingers at what's right and wrong and who should do what - we are just reversing the spectrum.

Why this topic
by Mukesh on Mar 10, 2007 04:04 PM

A nonsense topic and thread. I don't understand why rediff has started such a topic. Is it for satisfying those RGV haters? or I have to doubt someone bribed rediff to start such a topic. A responsible media like rediff should never stand for crucifying such kind of talents.

No doubt he is a master director but still most of his films do no appeal to indian viewers. It appears that he makes films for himself.

RGV is not making films having universal appeal
by GIRISH PANCHAL on Mar 08, 2007 09:14 AM  | Hide replies

RGV is too conservative. He works with limited persons. And according to him stars are stars and not actors which i think is not true. Stars are really something bcos of which they are in limelight. He should not repeat his starcast but rather he should experiment with established stars with whom he has never worked before like SRK, Akshay Kumar, Salmaan Khan, Govinda. for eg in NIshabh instead of taking AB if he would have taken Vinod Khanna it would have made some impact bcos story is different as well as starcast would also create some curiosity among audience.
