what is wrong with you ppl?
by Megha Dhar on Mar 06, 2007 11:47 AM

This is juat a photo of two indians celebrating an indian festival...so will you ppl. stop fighting over this hindu muslim point. Why cant you take the photo for its face value...does there have to be a secret agenda for everything that a hindu or a muslim person does???!!!
Instead of fighting over the stupid religion issue, look at the positives instead of always finding faults!

gimmick
by khalid on Mar 06, 2007 11:00 AM  | Hide replies

There are few people who has confused the indian masses with their gimmicks..Shabana is one of them..Various festivals are celebrated across the country and in different religions..The way they have shown goes out the message to the masses that they are the true muslims who have integrated in indian culture and all muslims should follow suit..irrespective of whether its unislamic and against the islam tenets..It feels good watching our brothers celebrating Holi but as a muslim it is not necessary to participate to show secular colour..Individuals choice is there and one can go ahead and do things.. but then if you are representing muslims then you dont have to degrade islam and overide it with your own views (As in case of the Veil issue.)..Islam has said..unka deen unke liye..hamara deen hamare liye..Deen mein koi zabardasti nahin..

Publicity stunts
by maharathi on Mar 06, 2007 10:00 AM  | Hide replies

Point is not who played holi or who did not. Really it is a personal affair. Point is why would Rediff.com go to their Juhu home and take orchestrated pics of them and then post them? Is that not hilarious? These bugs like Shabana, Arundhati and Mahesh Bhat are only after personal publicity one way or another and they will go to any extent to display it. They must be having a running media package going on with the likes of rediff.com for consistent converage every few months. Hilarious I tell you. They think the world is foolish and cannot see. Hellooooo!! Get a life you guys. And rediff...OMG needs to be ashamed of carrying such silly news as headlines. Have they bothered to find out what disaster recovery tools are in place by the Govt if something like that horrid Mumbai Deluge occurs again? No. They will not do anything constructive, ask anything that must be asked. Who the heck is Shabana after all and why would anyone care what she does or does not do?? eh?

I think rediff is playing a game here. U do some better job and invite comments on things that can increase the knowledge of people. Invite discussions that can spark good and constructive thoughts. Answer to this question? There are many others who celebrate festivals in a very menaingful manner. Are u blind to see those. Or are you getting some lucrative package from these people. If u r sincere answer to this. Do some thing good rather than showing these scraps.

Well, if you dont have an inclination for colours you might as well consider dining out with your family. Perfect way to celebrate 'holi'day. Sounds like a plan?

Sad state of affairs ..
by Human Mind on Mar 06, 2007 04:14 AM  | Hide replies

Muslims in India (or the world over) are in a mess .. But right now lets talk about only India ..
Guys like Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi have to play holi to prove their secularims ..
There is nothing wrong in Muslims playing Holi, but the problems here is that if a Muslim does this, then its judged. Some people appreciate it, some people think its only publicity stunt ..
I recall an incident which happened a few years ago in Thane.
India had won a cricket match against Pakistan and some Muslims were celebrating the win by bursting fire crackers .. Some Shiv Sainiks protested to this and they has a fight with the Muslim guys saying that why are they celebrating .. Pakistan has lost .. and actually there was a big fight .. and Police had to intervene .. lot of things happened after that .. but I wont go into that ..
The point is that why the hell Muslims have to prove their secularism and patriotism ..
I have a Hindu friend who hates India and says without any problems .. He says he doesnt like India .. So be it .. He is now in USA ..
What if a Muslim Indian says that he doesnt like India ..
I am an Indian Muslim and proud of that ..
I dont play Holi or Diwali, but hat doesnt mean I am not secular or patriotic ..
I dont have to prove anything to anyone ..

Hello brother...
I do agree with you that no one has to prove anything to any body...I also agree that there r lot of hindus who unknowingly expect u to prove ur indianness which is ridiculous...Beauty of festivals lies in being celebrated by one community and participated by the other...there r lot of good ppl in every community and lot of conservatives in every community...it bother me to see any random article becoming a slinging match betweek hindus and muslims...
