Showing faults are easy....:)

If really want improve this country, involve yourself. Then you will come to know, what is real problem behind that. Saying and showing is easy but following is difficult.
For e.g. If you want to sell a product, sell it by its not with affinity

Films are a mirror of society. Water had to be shut when it was made for the first time by protests and violence

Does that show a tolerant society?

Deepa mehta had always made good films like 1947 Earth, Fire & Earth etc...

think rather hate
by vijay rastogi on Mar 05, 2007 02:25 PM

We should think about the issues raised by the movie rather than blasting deepa mehta for making a film about the reality of widows and mind you, this is story about 1930s Banaras.but still many widows are in banaras, mathura and vrindavan who are wating for so called Maksha written in our sacred texts and peopla who are blasting deepa mehta about the movie should go to these places and see the hell like condition in which those widows live.So rather than making any comment about any other person,we as hindus should look deep into ourself.People are also writing that the film only raises the question and not giving us any answers. Please tell me how many people follow the charactor played by john abraham.Answer is none and people can only blast other one if any want to show them mirror.

Water Controversy
by amitava sarma on Mar 05, 2007 01:17 PM  | Hide replies

Yeah, Yeah!It is really tragic that people have nothing else to do than muse over the so called Water Contoversy which to say the least is a Non-Issue . The Film made by a so called individual who find Canada more habitable than our poor Country is not to be discussed at all. Let us consign Deepa to the dustbin and Water to the Trash and think seriously about the real plight of Widows from the National Angle and not International! Let us also concentrate more on the burning issues afflicting the Nation instead of running after some Avtars who are really alien to our Culture.

Hindusim of deeds :Is there a light at end
by sandeep sharma on Mar 05, 2007 01:16 PM

It's openness of hindusism which made deepa to shoot this film and distribute it as well. an people are embracing that as well. But do you see light at end is there a solution which she tried to find in questions she has put in film.If she has not answered questions potraied in film Then isn't that deflmatory.Agreed she has done good work but in what light .Is there a light at end? hindus are very onpen to crictism as they think it as tool to improve. But problem is too much of everything is bad.We have seen lots of criticism last decade soem of which is unneccessary. See it shows we are not proud of what we are ? think what happens to person without self confidence same thing is happening to hindusim if we r not proud of what we are. What we r trying to achieve by raising questions on hinduism and not answering to those question it s't it pure defamation.and Does any other religion this kind of feedback is accepted a s hinduism . Hinduism by defination by vivekanand is about awareness and finding truth and finding answers to quest, seeking truth and greatness not pityness Has does this flim answers questions?
or just spreading nusiance .Hinduism is very weak religion.andbody can defame it Make contrversy and earn money whithout giving something to society like answering raised in film .Is it right Is that we should project.Has anybody written solution to problem? so wha is objective of dicusing when we r not concluding with answers. Is n't not accepting hindusim as an entity is a non secular in itself? Every thing has weakness and strength Its upto us to higlight weakness or strength .this film highlights weakness .can we get over this weakness by seeing this film or by working for questions raised there???

Even if all of us want to forget the water controversy, REDIFF.COM is not letting us forget by publishing articles almost everyday on ''water''.

forget ?how?
by Sanjitarani Santra on Mar 05, 2007 04:10 AM  | Hide replies

People will forget something when media will let them forget, you keep hanging this one since many days and telling them forget...Is not this pure hypocracy,in fact you want people to write hate mails to each other.Politicians and some media both are so cheap...There are lot of serious stuff where people can eagerly talk about, some water problem, how can we solve it,creating more employment issues like this. But no you always post some issues which are neither useful nor constructive and you want people to fight for nothing.

sometime i think the people who cry for the freedom of art are only dared to go against the hindu religion because of the patience of hindu ulture they take undue advantage of it

Forget? How?
by animesh kumar on Mar 03, 2007 12:32 AM  | Hide replies

I firmly believe in Karma theory and whatever goes comes back. Deepa will pay for her misdeeds, I am sure.

She can lie, she can act a hypocrite, she can send her movie to Oscar, she can portray Lisa Ray topless, but she cannot avoid the final judgement.

animeshji - aaap yahaaan bhi bhashan dena chalu kar diye ? UCB campus mein karma and religion bhashan se santusht nahin hai aap. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and Deepa Mehta has just done that thru her film.... the way she sees it. No need to criticize her the way you are doing - going after her as if it is some kinda personal vendetta. Anyways.... your wish.
