The Movie Apne was fabulous. It showed how children should respect their parents dreams. Also it was great seeing all the deols together. I wished the Esha Deol could have done the sister role but it was still a good movie.
Its a refreshing movie seen in a long time. Dharmendrahas actually acted in this movie considering he is not known as an actor. Bobby deol is not only refreshing but he has never looked so cool n good looking. Sunny's role is not well etched out. And the ending could have been more better perhaps a trainning schedule of 3 months may have done the trick. And there was no requirement of Dharmendra's melodramatic sacrifice stuff. However its a well made movie. And very different from the movies seen this year. It actually strikes a chord. I actually had no expecation but by the end of it, it does touch your heart and gives you feel good factor.
A warm n yet not over the top. And no Sunny isnt doing the gaddar stuff. It more tonned down role.
Its the best movie along with Metro n Bheja fry. Must watch. Parents would love it.

Now AB has double trouble in hand. One one side he has the Khan's and the Roshan/Saif/Akshay gang going after his Abhishek and on the other hand he now has to deal with competing against Dharmendra for roles....I think he really should think about full time farming.

Apne has been declared a hit in the UK after the second weekend results were announced. It's weekend ranking was the same as that of week 1-#7. It has done well in all overseas markets and is a certified hit in Punjab/UP/Rajasthan. Business in Gujrat/Maharashtra has picked up very well. Other circuits are seeing brink business as well. Looks like the AKS hype has finally died. By the way, I started watching AKS and walked out after 15 minutes. Apne's results are no surprise. You give the Deol's a good script and they'll take the rest of the Bollywood crowd to the woodshed.
Comparing SRK/AB/others to Dharmendra?---My suggestion is to go watch Satyakam. SRK/AB cannot even come close.
If you are not fed up with boys running after girls or with 5 decades old plot of triangle love stories of 2 girls 1 boy / 2 boys 1 girl and the likes, then you may not appreciate watching this one. Better spend time reading Mills & Boon novels.
It is a different story - about the honour of a father and country and about the priorities of old & new generation.
Does have an element of unrealist boxing fights but then which Indian movie does not have similar scenes.

Boss I think, you Guyz only can watch Sharukh movies, praize his ridiculuous acting, same boring story. See his last 5 movies, same story and same acting thatz it, what he can give to the insdustry but for God sake don't compare that shit with deols (Dharmender)

Yet again we have another stupid freshy SRK and AB fan/hater of REAL acting. These idiots dont get tired of repetative work and stories like love triangles, long lost families, and other stupid retarted unrealistic bullshit. And then the unbearing overacting of SRK and AB wtf?! How obvious can u make ur acting! If it werent for Dharmendra these stars wouldnt have even been born! Dharmendra gave Sholay and Zanjeer (which was passed onto him by Guru Dutt) to the stupid AB, and that guy has so much attitude! U want REAL actors go to the Deols who just want 2 entertain us. At last they give a decent family film where u dnt have indian girls in western clothing or any rip off of Hollywood films and u guys cant take it cos it dont involve the so-called actors like SRK, AB, roshan, khans etc seems 2 me like the industry was desperate 2 get in ther list of big names just like Hollywood does so they be able 2 compare. If u dont call the 3 Deols, realistic fight scenes, good cinemetography/direction/production, casting, and storyline entertainment, go suck on ur typical Bollywood wanna-b actors bullox of films and they will NEVER b as good looking or comparable to the acting of Dharmendra in his youth or even at his old age, I'd love 2 c how SRK or ne1 else will look when they 70 !!! & SRK, AB etc etc all look up 2 Dharmendra so if they respect him n his work, mayb u shud 2! I guess that the Karan Johar and Yash Raj's bullcrap about millionaire NRI cry babies really turn you on. I guess movies where spouses fight for no reason (KANK for instance) and then wake up one morning and have affairs turn you on. I guess if Apne was made with SRK, AB, H Roshan, Kajol and Rani would have turned you ON.
I've moved to the US 20 years ago and laugh at the junk that the above mentioned folks throw at us. They have no frigging idea of what life is really like for an NRI.
And that's why I loved APNE. It beats the shit out of all the SRK movies that have been released under the Yash/KJ banner. The only reason AB existed is because of his horse shit PR. On the other hand, the Deol's are down to earth and do not know how to bullshit...I guess that does not sit well with the superficial bollywood junta. Dharmendra in Apne takes SRK/AB and a host of others to acting school. However, just as in years past---the fakers in Bollywood are going to award the best actor prize to a person whose last name begins with a B or a K.
Get a life man....stand outside the theaters and wait for Chak De India and a dose of the King Khan Over Acting Studio. That may suit you a bit more.
