Cheap sleeping pills
by Noel D'Souza on Jun 22, 2007 01:07 PM  | Hide replies

There is a company which hosts an online web site that helps people do price comparisions of similar kinds of medicines so that people can save some money. Guess what they recommend for sleeping pills ? Any movie that has 'Pyar', 'Mohabbat','Ishq', 'dil', hum, tum, aap, etc. in its title. That's brilliant and cheap! Seniors in USA are saving $200/month on sleeping pills an donating $25/month to our Hindi directors so that they can produce more sleeping pills. Biotech industry in India is booming solely because of Hindi movies! Name of the movies are also abbreviated just like many of the medicines!

True suker,
That is a job for people like you. If I take up that job , people like you will be unemployed. Only those people who like sukking those things envision that as lollipop. I have an offer for you. If you suk my thing, I will stop degrading Hindi movies. Who knows, I might even watch one of them one day !

Karutha Pakshikal-true life of a Tamilian
by Jomesh George on Jun 22, 2007 01:01 PM  | Hide replies

Recently I saw one Malayalam Movie "Karutha Pakshikal".It portrayed the life of an ordinary Tamilian who migrated to Kerala and ironing clothes for breeding his children. No Tamil movies r there showing the real life of an Ordinary Tamilian. All of them going for some styles and colorful things.May be it's the attitude of tamil people to enjoy life in a colorful way in the midst of all sorrows. There is a normal talk about Tamilians. They may not have a ration card, but they will have a television set in their home, atleast one tape recorder. There was a lot of youngsters who were ready to sacrifice their jobs with only one mission - Watch "Shivaji"

Please watch movies like Thavamai Thavamirundhu, Paruthiveeran, Veyil, Kathal, Autograph, Chennai 600028 etc. before you make a general assumption about Tamil cinema. The movies with big name stars reach different parts of the world while other Tamil films which depict human emotions and life of Tamils don't reach other states.

Generalization is not good. Some people are crazy about movies because they have nothing else to do. The iron man does not reflect a typical tamilan either. Every Keralite is not a jobless Communist. Every Keralite is not a union member arguing with someone.

Sivaji in UK top 10
by Kumar on Jun 22, 2007 12:28 PM  | Hide replies

The latset MSN news says that Rajnikant movie has earned a slot in the UK top 10 last week. No matter whether North or South, it is time to cherish that an Indian cinema has figured once again in UK top 10. Although many good Hindi movies have previously figured in UK top 10, this is the first time a tamil movie has figured in the elite list.

Rajni
by cynic on Jun 22, 2007 12:25 PM  | Hide replies

is a phenomenon no doubt. He is a great entertainer and I respect him for that. However the attitude of Tamilians towards Rajni is more of hero-worship than anything else, it is as if he can do wrong and is also perceived as a God by a majority of worshippers. I have seen people doing arathi for Rajni photos. I am surprised at that because I always perceived Tamilians as basically being anti-hindus because of the influence of Periyars ideology and now they are worshipping Rajnikant.

Hi
Daily we witness messages regarding the south %u2013 north differences.
Why don%u2019t we realize that we visit this site for a bit of relaxation and entertainment. Its ridiculous to see such posts having senseless talks involved.
Why don%u2019t we realize that this south-north cultural differences will always remain. When two siblings born to the same parents are not same in their behaviour, how can we expect people of two regions to be same.
Do we have the right to throw mud on one%u2019s culture just bcos we are free to comment anything? Cmon frnds whether its south or north its ultimately the Indian Culture which is in discussion. Whether its Big B or Rajnikant its ultimate the Indian star who is getting fame world wide. So what%u2019s the problem. How far modern education and globalization has brought us? Our education remains confined to books and exams. We failed to bring it into our lives. When we are ready to accept the western culture why do our own culture smells bad for us? This fight takes us nowhere. Is this what is expected from the modern youth? Try to respect one%u2019s culture. If u do not like it ,stay away from it, but u just do not have the right to use offensive words for cultural habits. Its time now to stop fighting about such issues. Standing single we are capable of nothing, its when we come together we can win any battle. Lets be one and celebrate our differences. Lets show the world how united we are amidst such cultural diversities.

I respect your point of view. But this type of mud slinging will help us understand what we are as perceived by others, which is very important in these days. Understanding ourselves better makes us to take corrective actions and become much more competitive. I am not blindly biased in my comments. I can also put down the bad characteristics of south Indians, such as Tamilians being too orthodox or having too much linguistic affiliation towards Tamil language. And regarding other traits, the northies have told more than what is true. However, criticizing on one%u2019s colour and race is really stupid and worthless as it is god given and not self acquired. But the habits such as the ones that I listed are self acquired. And we need to give away such useless and lethargic self acquired behaviors. Have you ever asked the feelings of a person who has just landed in India after a trip to any of the western countries or for that matter even some of the Asian countries such as Singapore, Japan, etc? Why do we still lag behind in public consciousness? Why do we not have the real unity in diversity? Why the north Indians immaturely criticize south Indians taking the words such as Madrasis, Kala kuthas, etc? Instead let them point out our self acquired traits so that we can improve. Let them start adopting our way of life so that cheating, extortion, corruption, will come down drastically in the north. Also, foreigners will start venturing in their land also as they do in the south.

hi jakal,
ya its true that we get a feeling of envy when we have just landed from a foriegn country. why are we not like them? i had recently been to foreign country and have witnessed their respect for an individual irrespective of their social status. can we expect this in India? no. i have seen ppl treating the poor as if they are not human beings. whatever it is, we Indians are greatly responsible of what is there with us today. when we cannot respect ourselves, why will ppl from other countries respect us.
each of the individual who have posted messages on south - north differences understands the importance of unity , but still is far away from idea of implementing it. we just dont want to take responsibility. we are often busy in throwing stones on others. thats the reason why we are lagging behind. despite having immense talent among us, we do not have will, the unity ,to better our lives. i fear what's the future generation learning from us.

Let our offsprings cherish
by Akshy on Jun 22, 2007 10:47 AM

Tamilians are good at making mountain out of stone and Rajini is the right recipe for them...nothing against Rajini..he has always lived up to the expectation of the people like our politicians because same politicians get elected every time just like same Rajini rocks every time..In India we have more corrupt politicians just because its the choice of us...but the only difference is people cherish Rajini and insult politicians...which in-fact we are the route cause for both...we take movies seriously and not politics, Rajini is more concerned when his movie releases then our politicians get elected, why cant we take politics more seriously than movies...at least it will change the life of our offsprings...How many people have stood in long lines to buy movie tickets and on contrary never bothered to go to the polling booth to choose the right leader for us which is more often empty and that too at free of cost. Why we take every election as one more election where as every movie with the same plot...same dance and stunts as something amazing.....we are trying the enjoy our life in a dark room watching some one as superstar in 3 hours which can never be practical... and live the rest of our life in a pathetic state in a bright light where we are the real super stars (in other words real culpcript)... thats the uniqueness of us.....select the least corrupt of the worst...and as the time goes we will have to select the best out of good...then our offsprings will cherish.
