Hi all I had witnessed enough turbulance on north/south movies culture etc. I am amazed to witness the kind of hatred. I sometimes feel are we living in different countries or what. Coming to cinema if u are really cinema lover you will never give derogatory remarks for a particular actor or movie industry.
I am from north India and spend 4 years at IIT and now working in MNC. My experience does show that there is general hatred between north/south but for me it has never been like this. At IIT majority of my classmates were from Andhra and I had very healthy relationship with them. I really liked chatting to them and share our culture. I my company too i have many tamilian friends and one of them particularly is good friend of mine who once depended on me to pay him money during some emergency. I also take his help whenever i need some lift.
And again where cinema is concerned I only watch good Hindi movies because its a fact that majority of hindi movies are not worth watching. Some of the hindi movies are really great especially by directors like Mira Nair, Vishal Bhardwaj, Gulzaar, Deepa Mehta, Shyam Bengal, Mahesh Bhatt, etc.
Amitabh bachan in my childhood was my superstar but not anymore. The idea of superstar doesnt make sense to me now . I love watching good movies and thats the whole truth. I prefer watching Hollywood movies because u will always find great movies there and I rely on IMDB.com to know some of all time great movies. I am not saying India doesn%u2019t produce good movies but there is no consistency. Indian movie scene is more dominated by STAR system which works against it. Good actors like Naseer. Om puri, Manoj bajpai, Irfan khan, Tabu, are always underutilized and that makes me feel sad.
I havent seen south Indian films so I am not in position to comment on that but i will always be thankful to some of great directors and actors like mani, ram gopal verma, kamal hassan etc who made Hindi films and I really like their cinema.
Though I watched APU trilogy from great satyajit ray and that was possible because I could get these movies with subtitles. Also If any such movies are available from south I will definitely watch it. Currently I am looking for Nayakan and Shiva in subtitled form but not succeeded.

The northerns grew up eating candy, so they like anything and everything that looks bright in colour even their own loo....., they lack character even while selecting that looks colourful ..

south indian movies have moral, subject and a message and with latest technology used in every movie they make. Thank god it is just not like a hindi movie where a hero plays guitar and heroin come running to him, go round tree have a song of marriage..same old stuff's for years.. where has the south indian cinemas have more of creativity which cannot be understood by bollywood movie watchers... think b4 replying

Bogi..shows ur lack of knoweldge about rajni and south indian cinema...BABA made collections....only thing it doesnt get huge profit like other rajni movies do....just like sachin scored 70 odd runs in a match...v all r satisfied when u scores century..
Flying is something u comment in chandramukhi, then y crouching tiger won oscars....In real life magicians are hiding Taj mahal only, y can CG can be used in Rajni movie...
Sivaji is a movie about social cause....how come a so called rich people can contribute to social welfare...its not silly movie where 64 year old romances 34 year old or a underworld shootin heroes....
