SCARED KHAN
by Diamond on Jun 14, 2007 07:11 PM  | Hide replies

One of the most absurd rumors to come out of bollywood is that all khans are planning to band together against the Bachchans as part of one big khan led lobby, refusing to work with them and so on, and that is supposed to be a big problem. That is being beyond delusional. Have these people forgotten that khans themselves are facing serious charges that can keep them from working period? Apart from that, they are all entering middle age soon and will have to face that music that every artist has to go into. They are in no position to isolate the Bachchans. Salman Khan for example himself needs Amitabh Bachchan to finish his film God Tussi Great Ho where Bachchan is playing his God.

Even otherwise, making a caravan out against the Bachchans is not a good idea for a number of deeper reasons which themselves would need whole articles. But suffice to say, this is the same India and Hindi film industry where Hamid Khan had to call himself Ajith in order to get work. They don't want to return back to those days do they?

More matter of factly, and practically in terms of need, a Guru could not be stopped from smashing the box office just because Saif Ali Khan did not do the 2nd lead to Abhishek Bachchan. Dhoom 1 and Dhoom 2 were both super successful despite one featuring John Abraham alongside Abhishek Bachchan and the other featuring Hrithik Roshan alongside Abhishek Bachchan and neither featuring a single Khan.

Does Shahrukh want Bollywood to throw out Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan from Mumbai?
by Diamond on Jun 14, 2007 07:11 PM  | Hide replies

It%u2019s no secret that Shahrukh wants Amitabh%u2019s stature in Bollywood. He has been following Amitabh, be it films, TV shows or advertisements blindly for that elusive numero uno slot. Shahrukh can blindly take Big B%u2019s route in Don, KBC, ICICI, Navratna Tel, Dabour etc. but he will never acknowledge the fact the he is copying Big B, the brand.

I don%u2019t blame the stammering Khan, as Amitabh is aging, the dynamics of market also needs an alternative to Amitabh. But it seems the game is taking its toll on Shahrukh, he is trying too hard to dethrone Amitabh from where he is now. Remember, Shahrukh is a clever fox, he knows how to manipulate media, and he bloody well knows how to put Amitabh in a bad light. After all, Shahrukh studied Media Studies and Mass Communication at Jamia Milia. He has been relentlessly attacking Amitabh through media whispering campaigns.

He has support from Congress and Sonia Gandhi.

He has support from rest of the Bollywood who were not invited at the Abhi-Ash wedding.

Amitabh is also to be blamed. Abhishek is no superstar like Hrithik. He should understand the fact but he is picking fight with Hrithik Roshan also. Obviously Shahrukh Khan will take advantage of that.

Right after Abhi-Ash wedding, Shahrukh showed his strength in the industry by inviting more than forty superstars of Bollywood, from yesteryears to next gen, to perform an item number for his home production.

He is playing more game with Amitabh now. Karan Johar wants to start his next movie with Abhishek and Aishwarya. But it seems Sharukh, Karan%u2019s best buddy is not supporting him in his endeavor. In fact it is rumored that Shahrukh Khan has asked Saif Ali Khan to opt out of Karan%u2019s project. Saif obliged. Now Karan is on a look out for a new search.

SRK gets France's top culture award
by mijanur khan on Jun 14, 2007 11:56 AM  | Hide replies

NEW DELHI: A prestigious French honour has put Bollywood heartthrob Shah Rukh Khan in an illustrious club of actors also inhabited by Leonardo DiCaprio, Bruce Willis, Sharon Stone, Uma Thurman, Meryl Streep and Robert Redford.

Khan has been chosen for the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Order of the Arts and Literature) award of the French government for his "exceptional career".

Shah Rukh Khan's name was recommended to the president of France by French ambassador in New Delhi Dominique Girard and it was quickly accepted. "Following a request to the president by the ambassador, it has been decided to confer the most important cultural award of France on Shah Rukh Khan," sources said.

The actor, whose most recent film Don was partially shot in Paris, has also been cited for his recognition of the potential of cooperation between India and France in the field of cinema. The actor will receive the decorative medal at a ceremony sometime this summer.

Khan now has a wax figure at the Madame Tussaud's as well as a French award, like fellow Bollywood giant Amitabh Bachchan. Ordre des Arts et des Lettres is given to citizens of France and also foreign nationals who have made significant contributions to arts and literature and to the development of culture and cultural understanding in France and throughout the world.

Previous winners from India include late Tamil superstar Sivaji Ganesan, film-maker Mrinal Sen and Carnatic musician M Balamurali Krishna. Indian-born author Salman

There was a recent article that Congress is giving all support to Shar Rukh Khan(SRK) to displace Bachchan from the top slot.
SRK had a close door meeting with Sonia & Rahul Gandhi. As a result SRK's statue is placed in madam Taussad's and now he got the French award which our best art actos like naseer or Om Puri havenot achived yet.The resaon given for this award also makes no sense.

And as we speak, Amitabh Bachchan's Cheeni Kum is going toe to toe with a big budget multistarrer also featuring him, with both emerging moneymakers.

Even if the rumors of all the khans conspiring against the Bachchans were true, India is not lacking in actors, aspiring directors; talented men and women who would love for a chance to break into bollywood and work with any member of Bollywood's first family. New actors from underrepresented sections of the country, new star directors will be developed out of that, and they would love to get that opportunity. New Madhavans, new Upen Patels, new Balkrishnans, new Sanjeev Kumars, new Dharmendras, new Shatrughan Sinhas, new Shashi Kapoors, new Mithun Chakrobartys will emerge.

Trying to isolate the Bachchans, therefore, will instead end up isolating out the isolaters themselves. For that and many other reasons, it is not a good idea.

Amit Does An SRK
If you had fallen prey to the new Don%u2019s Temptations, get ready for the original Don%u2019s Unforgettable tour.

After being on the other end in Don and KBC, for the first time, Amitabh Bachchan is trying to do a ShahRukh Khan.

Today in the Oulton Hotel, where he is staying for the IIFA Weekend, Amitabh announced the Unforgettable world tour commencing in April 2008.

This is a direct retort to Shah Rukh%u2019s Temptations world tour which has been immensely popular in the last couple of years.
And if there are doubts about Bachchan%u2019s jab at SRK, well the line-up of stars in his team confirms the obvious.

Besides the Big B, son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai will take the stage alongside the likes of Bipasha Basu, Lara Dutta and Riteish Deshmukh.

The gang does not feature a single Bollywood star who has been a part of Temptations like Rani Mukherji, Preity Zinta, Zayed Khan and SaifAli Khan.

When The Telegraph quizzed Bachchan why none of the Khans featured inthe group of %u201Cbiggest Bollywood stars%u201D, the IIFA brand ambassador smiled and said: %u201CAren%u2019t we enough?%u201D

Earlier, he had admitted that the world tour was entirely his brainchild and Wizcraft, the company behind IIFA, was simply executing his big idea.

The last time Bachchan was on a world tour was way back in 1983 when he had done the Kalyanji Anandji tour the highlight of which was his on-stage chemistry with wife Jaya Bachchan.

This time too, as h

This time too, as he travels six continents, it will be a totally home set-up with Abhishek and Ash giving him company.

As expected, just like last year in Dubai, Shah Rukh has given this year%u2019s IIFA a miss.

Interestingly, he was just two hours away from Yorkshire in London yesterday for the auction of a painting by M.F. Husain.

According to a Wizcraft spokesperson, Shah Rukh was very much invited for the eighth edition of the Bollywood Oscars but till late on Friday evening, he was nowhere to be seen in the county of white roses.

Now don%u2019t be surprised if Shah Rukh starts his own international Bollywood awards ceremony some time soon.
