Is two star for this movie justified
by rahul dhar on Jun 09, 2007 09:00 AM  | Hide replies

While the review of the movie has appreciated its various aspects, but giving it ony two stars does not justify those aspects.
If it would have been a yash raj banner movie with even good as this movie reviewer would have praised it like any thing......

"while forgetting that while other religions have ingrained casteism in their scripts, hinduism opposes casteism." Wow dude... that was an eye opener.

Hinduism whipped again...
by Gaurav moghe on Jun 08, 2007 11:57 PM

i agree with santosh...whip hinduism and you are modern...talk of the communal saffron forces and ignore the maulanvi diktats and actions...thats secularism...

about the movie though, leaving aside all prejudices, pankaj kapoor shines. the cinematography is wonderful too and so is the background score. the movie is soulful, but falls in the trap of becoming "secular" and that is the only point where you tend to feel sorry for the director's banal perspective...

Why only show Hinduism in bad light?
by santosh nair on Jun 08, 2007 07:23 PM  | Hide replies

Hinduism is the favourite whipping religion. This movie is no different. Why not make movies on the dark side of Islam and Christianity? No religion is perfect.

My Friend It is unacceptable if anyone tries to point a finger at another without realising that after all we are all the same and all of us journey along to the same destination, although using different routes.
It is best if as educated (mind u not bookish education) people, we avoid getting involved in such slurs at our brothers.

With Best Regards,
Shivakumar Kannan.

Not accurate. All major religions have been whipped by numerous books and movies (passion of christ, satanic verses to name only 2). Those movies are usually shown to the audiences relevant for them. I think most of us know enough to abuse those other religions without anybody giving us extra knowledge.

Good piece of work

Although Dharam may not appeal to the masses but this film is certainly an eye opener for the staunch people who believe in casticm and traditional rituals.
