It is very difficult to say , which kannada movie will be hit. kannadigas mentality is diffrent from any other south indians in watching movies. realy we don't have crazy about movies, if it realistic and near to their fellings definitly they watch.

top 5 kannada movies this week
by nadal on Jul 27, 2007 04:54 PM  | Hide replies

Bangalore, July 27 (IANS) After over 30 weeks, "Mungaru Male" has yielded the top place on this list to Ganesh-starrer "Cheluvina Chiththaara".

Here are the top five Kannada films:

1) "Cheluvina Chiththaara": After four weeks, "Cheluvina Chiththaara" seems set to break the records set by "Mungaru Male". The film directed by S. Narayan is a remake of the Tamil hit "Kaadal".

2) "Mungaru Male": The film is regarded as the biggest hit ever in southern Indian cinema. It has given a big boost to all the artistes and technicians who have worked for it. Even in its 33rd week, the film is attracting huge crowds.

3) "Duniya": On the verge of its silver jubilee, the film is still running well in all major centres. "Duniya" has been the surprise of the year. Director Soori and hero Vijay have already become big names.

4) "Santha": This too has been able to survive the onslaught of new releases. Starring Shivaraj Kumar, it has earned profits for its producers, though collections in the interior areas of Karnataka have not been encouraging.

5) "Sathyavaan Saavithri": Actor Ramesh Arvind's second directorial venture is a moderate success. The trendy and glamorous film is attracting the young crowd.

yeha... when Jogi was remade in Tamil..man..i swear...Dhanush looked like a joker.. Same when Rajini made Billa from Original Hindi...Yuck....and for Kadhal - i was a horrible movie... i have no idea how it became a hit in TN. Any unrealistic movie with sex and violence become hit in TN.

It collected more than the original in kerala and did a roaring business in bangalore as well inspite of aapthaitra;s success.Collected over 100 crores and few jokers like u can call it a comedy movie.
I totally agree with u on JOGI ..as a kannada movie is worth to be remade only in bihari.other languages should stay away from kannada shit.

Prassanna is a looser and is mad...thats why he writes all these forgive this man friends...he is mad and needs help...or else he wouldnt be writing all these.... and he talks about Kottigobba.. where Vishnu acted as a Don was dignified and Rajni was looking like a joker... by the way Basha was a stolen story from HUM and Rajni was not half of what Amitab was in the original..but these tamilians claim that to be their own!!! when Jogi remake was a worst thing, they forget that Jogi was a trned setter and that is why Rajnikanth made it in Tamil and someone else made it in Telugu, but if they cant remake a decent movie, they dont have the guts to accept but talk that it should be remade in Bihari...who gave them the rights to talk bulshit about any other language???

Agninakshatram.... when U see this movie, half the scenes of Karthik is all copied from Pallavi Anupallavi..now this joker prasanna says its original!...so guys forgive him...

The tamil actors you said in the list are very good actors compare to Kannada crap stars. They might be not good looking but the acting and fan following is very huge. Don't forget abt Kamalhassan, Surya, Ajith, Surya, Madhavan, Prasanth, Shaam, Arya etc.. The list of handsome heroes in tamil is very huge (I mentioned only few), also they act very well. So stop comparing kannada and tamil. Tamil is very far away in the top with high standards, which has both class and mass.

Hey is this the same guy who wrote and directed Manthana on ETV Kannada? That is one fab serial. The best of emotions displayed even beautifully. I think the director there is Hamsalekha. Correct me if I am wrong.

Don't go by RGV's review
by Madhusudhan N on Jul 27, 2007 02:44 PM  | Hide replies

Please don't go by this R G Vijaya Sarathy's review.. This is the same guy who had said that Mungaaru maLe is good only in technical aspects and fails in the story and other departments.. We all know what happened to Mungaaru maLe afterwards.. It became the biggest blockbuster in the history of Kannada cinema as well as South Indian cinema history..

Now, for Meera Maadhava Raaghava, he is saying the opposite.. So, you can be sure that MMR also goes on to become a BIG HIT..

Who asked him to explain the technical aspects of a movie?.. It's reviewer's job to say whether the movie is good or not.. that is what is required in the ultimate analysis.. Nobody goes to the movie thinking that if the technical aspects of the movie is not good, I will be dissapointed.. everybody, goes to watch a movie for it's content.. Technicality is just an add on..

So, finally, don't go by RGV's review.. Go and experience the movie by yourself or rely on somebody's comments who has already watched a movie..

One more case that comes to my mind is about Cheluvina Chittaara.. The same gentleman had reviewed that movie and had given 2 stars saying that the film's climax is too crude and our people will reject it..

When I saw the movie, I was really delighted and it's climax had such a haunting effect on me.. I couldn't come out of it's spell for almost 2-3 days.. Then I was sure that, we should never make the mistake of going to the movie by paper reviews..

So, watch MMR and enjoy!!!

I think as a reviewer he can critic all aspects of the movie. Coming to the credibility of his reviews thats different. I feel that the story is not that attracting. I will watch nevertheless.

Boss, I have been thru' the grind myself.
Recently I took along a friend cum junior colleague to get some enlightened inputs from an earnest IAS aspirant who's going thru' the rigours now. I was stumped by the fugures he quoted as fees for the coaching classes in Delhi.
Roughly 75-85 thousands for coaching in 3 subjects (2 optionals and GenStudies) !!!!
And the living expenses come to 6 K per month for a one-room tenement in Delhi, surrounding the coaching class area.
And it's usually 2-3 attempts. For some it's 4 too. A few people repeat the coaching for 1 or 2 subjects.

In movies they dont care about facts. Luckily they have not said 1 crore because lakhs seem to be out of contention in movies & serials. Even kids talk in terms of Crores.
