I don't know if it's just me, but take a close look at the sakti's pic with Kamal.
It seems some Adobe Photoshop went behind it - like the boy's pic pasted on...Also Kamal with his double-chin and all looks his age as of now, and not like how he might have looked like 10-15 years back.
I wonder, had Rajini been fair and good-looking, would the Tams accept him as their superstar? Is this a personality trait. Does it have anything to do with identifying self in movies in a world of fantasy?
It is not an insinuation, just a query. I am trying to understand the psychology behind a person being accepted as a superstar. Is it a sense of identity that a fan lives with while watching him? For sure, he is no great actor. He can't emote. Nor is he the conventional Greek god. or sure, he won't win a beauty contest. Why is his magnetism only local to TN? What is it that ppl identify with to make a man a superman? Just a scientific insight into something very commonplace. Pls don't think I'm racist. Just curious.

Probably Trivedi is too young to know have seen geat housefull hindi movies of Rajanikanth. Every one even laughed at Amitabh (Ugly looks skinny and too tall then) & Dharmendra (skinny body during stuggle, see his flop black and white movies)- They worked hard and because of their talents and hard work they became big. Looks doesn't make you to win beauty contest, they only help you to get a chance, if you are talented you stay or you go out. If public likes you you stay in movies or you go out. Where was Amitabh for 15 long years in hibernation, because public had rejected him. HE came back thanks to new innovative look and thanks to KBC and Amar Singh. So u are seeing him again otherwiwe nobody was calling him even for guest appearances. Many good looking actors like Dev Saheb also stayed because of their distinct style and home production.

You have the typical Bollywood'ish ideas of what an actor should be like: definitely gora, cleanshaven, have muscles and abs to boot, he should dance, fight and 'emote' - Finish.
Know that there are other traits that can endear a person to others - like his charm, manners, behaviour, conduct and attitude. This is what makes Rajni different. He does not carry any baggage with him unlike your Khans and Bachchans (despite earning way more than them), is humble to the hilt and is philanthropic. So Rajni stands out.

Superstars in any field need not perfect in their attributes. Shahrukh khan, the current Bollywood star and Amitabh Bachan the previous one were not the best looking either. There are others in the same field that are better looking and act better. But still they have been declared super stars.. Think why. You'll know why Rajini is a superstar.

Mr Prashant, u talking about being fair and good looking, I really not knowing wht ur measures to weigh that, but I think, that, u r in a fools world, and because of that, u think that u r a white man..And from ur words it is very clear that, u never stepped outside India, u need to be ending up in Europe for some time man, then u gonna get an idea, wht white(in ur terms Fair) is, and wht u are, and as wht, u will be treated there. Man u aint gonna get a treatment as a white guy dude, u will be treated just as another coloured man, and at that time aint no white gonna stand for you, and the Black, Yes the Black is gonna be with you. and by the way, you may be not knowing, dravidians are the aboriginals of India, and I am proud to say tht Mr Shivaji Rao Gaekwad is one from that only. I am sorry. It seems my msg didnt convey the real one. I was sorry abt that. My point is, if u r regular to rediff for the past couple of months, u could sense the mentality of northies. They need an actor with color skin(no acting skills is required. Proof: Watch Run in Tamil & Hindi). Well Mrrrr. Carrrryy on. U North Indians used to eat 20 Idlies.. Drink rasam (bcoz South people used to take rasam with Rice only. But u north Indian r thinking RASAM as a drink and also used to drink just like the liquid come with Pani puri r Gup chup...). Yaa u north Indians not used to take bath regularly. Used to have scented hair oil and some perfume. In winter the situation still worse. If anybody wants to see North Indians' culture, then go and see the Public places and villages. They dont know Comfort, hygiene etc... Having journey in overloaded local trains, buses, JEEPPPSSSS like monkies. In a single JEEP, more than 40 people used travel. The North Indian villagers used to wear dirty dhoties, Kurta ...... Used to spit & litter everywhere (Even within offices). Truly dirty fellows. So first u learn culture and comment other. I am not a racist. But u north indian fellows treating south Indians so. Pls try to learn good things whether it is north or south. Afterall v r in same country and v shouldnt fight eachother. And one more request pls dont run behind Movies & Actors. They r meant for Entertainment only not for life.
