Zamaane ko dikhana hai

When you get kicked - either you walk out or kick back on the face. There are two ways to maintain the dignity.
What you did was to keep your ... open to get kicked and then show the world in the name of Indian nationality that you are at the receiving end. Oh.... you thought the world and people are silly. You were right - People bought your idea.

You should have gone after the people "who detested you", Instead your eye was in the kitty (bear all humiliation) and pocket the prize and leave the rest of the "INDIANS" to pay the prize.

Who authorizes you or Aishwarya to speak on behalf of one billion Indians what they do/do not do.

Go and .... yourself.
I don't buy your idea.

Dont forget that Shilpa brought attention of entire world against racism. People who living in outside of India will better knows wghat is racism. Thats why NRI's supported Shilpa. She has done this on a platform which you may dont like. But she has done a great job. We proud of you & your intelligence.

NRI's supported Shilpa, but what did Shilpa do. She retracted statement and told the media that goody is not a racist. By making such statement hasn't she insulted the people who had supported her.

No need to put up this story which is of no use to our country
by frederick alex on Jan 31, 2007 09:24 AM

Instead of this kinda news... better post something which is unaware to many people all around the country. No big deal is Shilpa has won the Big Brother reality series. There are soo many things we need to look about, corruption is all round the corner.. why dont you expose this kind of news. make people feel safe and strong.

what shilpa did for India
by SI on Jan 31, 2007 07:38 AM  | Hide replies

Racism or not, what Shilpa did for India was to give a thorough makeover. Those who thought India as the land of suppressed and uneducated women might have got a glimpse of the truth that exist here. Those who thought Bollywood and its followers are plain dumb(well, most of it still is)might have been surprised by the elegance showed by a '2nd tier' actress.
On the whole it has been good for India. What Shilpa gains from it personally is her thing, there is no point in complaining this and that.Instead of showing off jeaousy, let us appreciate what she has done for India's image.

I totally agree with you.. I have myself seen the change in notion towards indian people from my verrry racist colleagues. They couldnt stop wondering how come an indian actress had such ettiquettes, language learning and class when there own business women, beuty queens didnt have that. The most funny thing they asked me was "Do you have educated ppl in bollywood?". I asked them wat did they feel after seeing shilpa also conveying that she is not a very successful actress? I should say they were amazed..

well..this whole issue of shilpa...with all due respect..i have to say that it was nice tht you won the big brother...but dnt u think that it was just sympathy thrown on you..and i feel there is nuting India has to be proud about either...its just a god damn GAME SHOW....where u are viewed 24/7..so whats the big deal in that...grow up guys..Shilpa..i guess u need to prove urself..by doing sumthing urself..rather than getting the easy way to success thru sum game show...or due to sympathy!!

all my wishes...god bless you

Most of the shilpa supporters in here are like the indian media. the indian media has a tendulkar and dravid and some chocolate faces from bollywood to highlight. we indians are so desperate for a win and now we take this win from stupid game stupid as the big one. Can i ask us so very proud indians...have we thought about winning some real prizes like some gold medal at the olympics even to try and send a 16 memeber foot ball team to the AFC if not the world cup..? what i am saying is we have other competitions in the world other than cricket.
A population of a billion should be doing more challenging things other than watching those stupid bollywood love masalas and competing amongst each other to make india the most populous country. i am sure when that is acheived a lot of you will start being proud about how fertile our women are and how potent our men are.
hmm......

I totally agree with You... What she should do to prove that she herself is not a rascist is to marry someone less fair, maybe on the darker side. Secondly she could donate a part of her free earnings to old age homes and not to Tirupati temple with a wish to earn more. Otherwise she has done wonderfully. I am proud of her. God bless her and her mother.

YOur perspective may be correct, but i feeel that there have been quite a outrage on the attitude of Jade and fellow brits towards racism. UK schools have propsed to induct subjects into their school cirriculum so that brits have knowledge on Indian culture after this incident. So there are certainly some after affects. AS for the easy way out for Shilpa, she has been a celebrity and hence this her routine job.. i think the game show is one of the livelihood of such stars.

shouldn't it be atleast a 11 pt thing...
by ram kumar on Jan 31, 2007 02:59 AM

with the 11th point being Buy Rediff!!!
Jeez....will you stop it? She won a freaking show that too because of a huge "brits are not racists" sentiment! The way you guys are going on about it, i sometimes wonder if I am reading indiatimes by mistake!

I guess shilpa will be ready for all the 10 points and in addition to that she may even give max clifford some additional 20 ways of becoming famous which may hopefully surface on rediff's next article on max sometime in future when he will be having some other indian client.
