Kalpana Chawla..Sunita L. Williams..some kid winning a spelling bee, Bobby Jindal..They are doing well sure, but its stupid of the media to to hyped up everytime some American with some Indian root/blood does something.. They are not Indians and ask them, they will not tell they are not Indians (and rightly so).
Man this is too early for that( Indian- American Idol) , they have to go very far to achieve , please do not put such headings which doesnt make lot of sense .
Is pride in Indian achievements abroad not a sign of racism ... to believe in some way that the Indian genes have made them superior to others or at least an equal to the whites. I think the Britishers stopped having pride in Aussie or American achievements a long time back . if at all , even though they are from same Anglo-Saxon stock. Sometimes we take such Indian thing too far - like in case of self styled representative from India in the trashy tv show recently in news. And our foolish media , NRIs and government making a hoo-haa about it as if her pride and winning is of great consequence to Indian nationhood. Or that woman of 50% Indian genes who went to space recently being a matter of pride.I'm sure such acts of false pride will increase racism and contempt for Indians even more.
This is precisely how our media reports these days. You just have to win the first round and you are built up to be a wonderkid. Pathetic is the word for such reports. Rediff.com, the one exception to this kind of reporting is going down the drain these days. Buck up guys!

A catchy caption that will attract the reader's attention at one go. Guys, you people create the hype and hooplah around when there is absolutely no need, and then when the person fails to meet the expectations you do a complete post-mortem, soul-mortem and god nos what not. Why in the first place give so much of hype to a small step towards an achievement. Stop this at once.
This article's heading shows the hype you media people create without any reason. It was just a priliminary round. No need to title it like 'This year's American Idol could be Indian'
This should be the title when they are finalist. PLease refrain from this kind of stuff otherwise you will lose some readers like us

very right, Rahul. I mean sometimes its just so crazy and premature. And these poor young guys are put under tremendous pressure sheerly bcoz of this.
Hope media guys realise this and act sensibly. But on the flip side, do they ever care? cheers, Pranay

my dear rahul..this is one type of (as if) to sell a product..or else how could fools like u read this..and rediff will not loose readers like u..but theyll get bakra like u...and dont forget u r an INDIAN so b like an INDIAN
Lets look at better issues than such trivial events. If any of the siblings become American Idol, I don't think it will change India's image in any way.
