See now she has made a U-turn and made millions of her supporters look like fools. This is the way these models and actresses do. Please dont support them or you make yourselves a fool.

If the establishment can get Diana killed because of Dodi , then it is not Shilpa's fault if the mafia that controls these TV shows as well as the politicians and those who sponsor the show put immense pressure on Shilpa and the rest to back down. Therefore you see both sides doing some give and take. I doubt if Shilpa knew that it would come to this. She took the job like any actor would because she got the chance and was being paid. I doubt that she knew in advance what was coming. However now that it has happened she should consider herself lucky because if she is smart and her manager is smart they can really put her into Hollywood. I mean she could make millions. She is also single. With makeup she looks million bucks and she could even become the new face of Loreal or you name it- the doors are wide open- now it is entirely upto her and her manager to get the best out of this once in a lifetime chance for a B class actress back in India. Shilpa is more in demand making appearances dancing on all those awards shows than in any box office hits.

I expected that..she signed a contract with the show. She had to accept the producer's demand otherwise she wouldnt get even a penny out of the show. This is all about the money.

Stop this nuisance

I cannot understand Indians behaving so childish or rather girlish, trying to make a big cry over these small issues. The House of Commons or the Indian Parliament came under pressure to acknowledge this issue as it raised so much furore, not because it was such a big event. There are people who hear these abusive calls everyday in India, think of the lower classes. If the chick sitting in A/c rooms and having employees at her fingertip, couldnt bear it, she should have sit at home. She should have expected this is what is going to happen if you have 10 people tied in a room for a month.. Even a layman can guess that.. There are so many Indians in UK, these kind of unnecessary furore will provoke automatic repercussions on these.. Please stop this

Dear Bijesh John its only the upper class or the lower class that get back at such things. Middle calss believe in getting on with life.Which is a pity.

What is racism actually??
I think its same when we call any south Indian a "madrasi",any sikh a "pai",any person from north east a "chinky"...
We are also racists and we need to change ourself before we start to pin point at others...
Cheers!

Why all this fuss...
by Ramya Balakrishnan on Jan 19, 2007 04:38 AM  | Hide replies

Shilpa knew what she was doing when she accepted to take part in the show, after all she is a mature adult responsible for herself! And people making all this hue and cry over something as measely as this??!!! Terrible...
She is getting paid for what she does...and what do we get for dicussing this! come on...be sensible....think about the orphans on streets...think of thousands who are struggling for a meal a day...think of all the corruption...with so many problems to be solved in our country, let's concentrate on those rather than worrying about an actress who knew what she was walking into.

I am currently in US and working here. I am getting paid for what I am doing what does that mean? Does anyone has the right to racially abuse me? Racial abuse is one of the most hated form of crime across the world. Every socity and govt has taken the issue very seriously. Why do you think Gibbs was banned for 2 matches otherwise? In public even a small racist remark can have heavy repurcurtions.

It will do her career a world of good
by Jay Mamtora on Jan 19, 2007 02:15 AM

It is a well known fact that India isn't too kind to actresses above 30 but Shilpa has done some good work. Okay she has had no super hits but just watch her in Phir Milenge and you'll see what I mean.

I live in the UK...and she has been treated awfully but she's sticking it out because of her pride!

She has made India proud you guys are too cynical. The way she has conducted herself, her dignity and poise she has given India a really good name. She doesn't talk about sex or virginity, she doesnt wear revealing clothes because she keeps saying she's representing India. Stick by her and stop being so FLIPPIN NEGATIVE. She needs your support. She's giving such a positive image of Indian women, respecting the elderly members of the house and not dropping to the level of Jade Goody. Cut her some slack guys. It takes courage to take it this far...sure she will get the money but that doesn't mean it's okay for her to be bullied. Do you people go into work and leave if you're bullied no.

Support Shilpa.

support her
by jatin shah on Jan 19, 2007 12:54 AM

I don't understand why she's being attacked by the commentators on this discussion board. First of all, just because she's famous and getting paid a big amount for being on the show, doesn't mean she should tolerate being called a Fing P*** and a dog. I don't associate being famous/rich with having to tolerate racism and demeaning comments. We should stick by her and I personally feel that Channel 4 should step in and remove the persons from the house who are responsible for the racist comments.
