We have to admit that this premiere has put south asians in a very positive light.Mcguinty while in india opened every speech with "we hosted Guru in Ontario,so we take full credit for their marriage"
Every news paper had it on the front page.
I think it was the greatest event for East indians --Hands Down!!

really pity both of them...they make an awkward couple...y did they keep denying their relationship even though they walked hand in hand...ash seems to be the witch in disguise who aftr having 2 open affairs(which she denied again)...is onto for a third failure...she really has been lucky so far in dating the high profile actors n then dumping them and then talking crap abt them and seeking solace from people...ash, please grow up....and abhi, who knows wht werre u thinking..anyway our condolences to you..

I think spoiled brats like Salman and Vivek deserved this treatment from Ash. Salman is a characterless fellow, with a long list of girl friends and criminal records, and Vivek is a fraud and dhokebaaz who ditched his girl friend to wag his tail after Ash. Nobody can be compatible with Salman and Vivek, then why do we blame Ash? Earlier she did not know about what kind of persons Salman and Vivek are, but after she got to know about them, it's good that she left both of them because Salman and Vivek don't deserve anybody's love.

Stop Comparing Angie to Ash
by C on Jan 17, 2007 10:01 AM

Hey Happy,
Here we are not talking about who kicked whom but we are discussing about Ash and Angelina. Yes I agree that Ash did India proud by winning the miss world title, what happened after that, what happened to all that she said in front of a live telecast???????? is she still practicing it? come on man the truth is in front of you.
Although Angelina is not crowned Miss world but she is doing things which every human should do. Can Aishwarya do it ? So stop comparing.

Ridiculous
by on Jan 16, 2007 04:49 AM  | Hide replies

Lacking common-sense is not getting more uncommon in our people. Lets not compare Abhi/Ash with Brad/Julie. Brad/Julie are creating a great sense of living , Ash/Abhi have't ever heard of that sense yet.

by suchi narayanan on Jan 16, 2007 02:32 AM

what is relevance of even comparing Aishwarya & Abhishek to Brangelina ... media hype should not exceed a certain level ...
Above all I really pity Abhishek .....Hope his career does not end up in shambles like Vivek's!!

media marketing of movies!
by Anita Ram on Jan 15, 2007 11:32 PM  | Hide replies

I feel that Mani Ratnam's successes by and large depend on apt/appropriate marketing, with the correct use of music as a media tool! having grown up in Chennai, I know how much he was dependent of Ilaiyaraja's music for all his earlier movies - for instance, movies like "Agni Natchatiram" (Gharshana in telugu)and "Geethanjali" are symbolic of ethereal music! and Nayagan would not have been possible without Kamal Hassan! also, one always associates music with these movies - Nayagan was a breakthrough for the background score too!
I doubt if he can ever make a movie like "Pushpak"(Kamal Hassan starrer), or a "Rang De Basanti" - as for sheer acting talent alone, in my opinion Aishwarya is NOWHERE near the likes of Smita Patil, Konkana Sen Sharma, or, Savitri, or Revathi, Archana (from the South) - mere looks will not do!

once again a illeyaraja and Kamal hassan fans vs mani...Now i believe why you people are called extremists. A person can be made a hero/zero overnight in Chennai( either black or white, no grey shade)...
Do you know whether it's illeyaraja, kamal hassan or the technicians for whom you fan club people give the credits for the success of Mani's movie( Santosh sivan, rajiv menon, totta tharani....) have given the best with Mani...think the other way...even for that matter Kamal Hassan follows Mani's style of film making....one should not be a good technical director, but also a good marketing director...and that's what Mani is doing...Mani's movies post Roja is as good as/ even better than the pre-Roja days.

hype!
by Madhan Raghavan on Jan 15, 2007 11:16 PM  | Hide replies

its embarassing to observe our media indulging in such meaningless hype! hmm - with the exception of his first few films, Mani Ratnam lost much of his steam, often showing only glimpses of brilliance in most of his post-Roja movies and btw he is not all that original either! and Abishek is good but his performance is forced/contrived, NOT natural at all! no one can survive/endure for long in the absence of natural talent! it is time that Indian filmdom starts focussing on genuine talent than heaping hype of former stars/legends offsprings - this kind of dynasty related hype will not stand the test of time
