GURU actually fulfills your expectations, which most of the films fail to do.Everything is just too good in the movie.Screenplay,Camera,Music. Awesome chemistry.Must watch it atleast once.Hats off to MANI sir.
No doubt he is Ace Director! He started his Hindi movie career with Ram Gopal Varma and somehow RGV "stick" with Bollywood by his 'gimmicks' and Mani had failed in Bollywood. Similarly Priyadarshan he is rejected in his own Kerela and now he is producing all his old hits. But, Mani Giving some class movies with his own technical acclaimed and Music scorer by AR Rahman he stands invincible in Bollywood. Yuva commercially not hit but it won 5 Filmfare awards. Sure Gure too will sweep for both Photography and Music and it is a cakewalk. In Tamil Mani means Pearl and Ratnam means Diamond.
According to me after Nayakan your lead actors could not get any recognition for acting skills. I would link it with your increasing tendency to pander to the box office which resulted in extensive packaging using trick photography, slam bang music of your pet obsession arrahman and extensive marketing of the packaged product. In spite of your continued obsession with the master of loud music (who was resposible for ruing the lyrics job in the nineties) arrahman you cannot say your films have good quality indian / tamil songs. Only the total uncultured set will gobble up your offerings as intellectual product of art. I would like to know when will you come out of this pretension of being a intellectual filmmaker and start giving good watchable movies shedding the pretnders team of geniuses whom you project as natures greatest gift to mankind.
As someone who has just walked out of moviehall, I feel satisfied of watching a good story. Abhisek, Aishwarya, Mithun have done a great job. Keep it up Madras Talkies... as GURU says you need to be NUMBER 1 in the WORLD....being No 1 in Chennai and India is not good enough.
