Dont judge a book by it's cover
by James Sajan on Jan 19, 2007 04:14 PM

Unless the particular episode or series of episodes before and after the episode in question is viewed, I think it is absurd to make comments. Why cant rediff make these episodes available as streaming videos ???

You have absolutely no clue how much celebrities are paid in the UK to just make an appearance, if Shilpa was paid the amount she deserved every penny of it. Afterall the treatment she got in the house, I think she needs to get double compensation. 3 crores are peanuts in the UK for celebrities.

The double stands of Indians
by MANOJ KUMAR on Jan 18, 2007 09:47 AM  | Hide replies

The shettys and NRI Indians are unnecessary making this as a big issue. NDTV has hyped this issue out of proportion. India is a country where casteism and untouchability still exists. The same shettys consider the dalits as untouchables in India. Today one shetty girl went for a TV show elsewhere and trying to get publicity in the name of so called racial remarks. Dear Indians, first you keep your house in order, then you can critisise and correct others.

It's actually a pity that you say that! If your dad says something to you ~ will it hurt as much as if an outsider does...
If you cant respect your own country and countrymen then you dont deserve to call yourself Indian...

Totally Agree!
They dont have any standing in the International Arena now but still think they are superior ~ a person who has been to UK knows that there is nothing there that is not there in Modern India, Brits must understand that they have fallen behind and accept it...

FAKE PUBLICITY CAMPAIGN BY SHETTY
by MANU KUMAR on Jan 17, 2007 05:36 PM  | Hide replies

Hi All,
It is surprising that the shettys are giving much hype about the so called racial remarks against one shila shetty in UK. Probably, you may not aware that the shettys themselves makes racist and castiliest comments about the downtrodden and untouchables in India and not much coverage has been given by the Indian media about the isses realities happening in India and makes big cry about the same shettys and brahmins if they face the same music abroad from people of that country.

Here is the news published by The Hindu Businessline on May 07, 2005, which is available at http://www.thehindubusinessline.com/2005/05/07/stories/2005050702320300.htm

IDBI chief arrested for `casteist' remarks, released
Our Bureau

Mumbai , May 6

THE Chairman of Industrial Development Bank of India, Mr V.P. Shetty, was arrested today under the Protection of Civil Rights Act, 1955, Section 7 (1) D, by the Mumbai police. He was released soon, on a bond of Rs 10,000.

Mr Shetty was arrested on the orders of the High Court in a case filed by IDBI General Manager Mr B.W. Ramteke for allegedly passing casteist remarks.

Earlier in the day, a division bench of Mr Justice R.M.S. Khandeparkar and Mr Justice P.V. Kakade of the Mumbai High Court had quashed the charge under The Scheduled Castes and The Scheduled Tribes (Prevention Of Atrocities) Act, 1989 Section 3 (1) (10), saying the alleged offence took place within the Chairman's chamber and not in public view.

The ruling came following an application filed by Mr Shetty seeking quashing of a FIR filed against him by Mr Ramteke at the Cuffe Parade police station in Mumbai.

Mr Ramteke, who also works as Chief Liaison Officer for Schedule Castes/Schedule Tribes (SC/ST) with IDBI, in his FIR, said he had requested the IDBI chief to calculate the fresh SC/ST backlog in view of the merger of IDBI Bank and IDBI Ltd.

This suggestion was made to ensure due compliance of the Government's reservation policy and make available benefits to the backward class employees, the complaint said.

Mr Ramteke charged Mr Shetty with making casteist remarks, thus insulting and humiliating him.

According to a release from IDBI Ltd, Mr Shetty had said that he was wrongly accused of passing casteist remarks.

"UNQUOTE"

While highlighting the present shilpa shetty issue out of proportion, you should not forget the hard realities in India. I request all people of British origin to note that even the highly educated SHETTYS themselves consider dalits in India as untouchables and make castliest and racial remarks against the dalits in India. So dear citizens of UK, you should not leave the shettys and the so called "upper caste brahmins" settled in UK.

regards

A CITIZEN
REPUBLIC OF INDIA.
