Usually I try to justify action packed movies. But this was so bad , justificatio never comes the picture. If they wtld hat the main actor is Mr.Skull man with guest appearance N.Cage then the movie could've be given a two star otherwise, its not worth a mention. The rediff reviewer is just tryinto fool the reader which he's not able to though!!!

Your reviews are simply pathetic....
by ram kumar on Feb 25, 2007 02:18 AM  | Hide replies

Guru was rated ok, but salaam e ishq was rated awesome. Remember that you are rating for the general public....not for fans of the comic series or some guy who has made the movie itself. Atleast a disclaimer saying only for the fans would have been better...otherwise 2 is what this deserves being sympathetic`

Dude, forget the general public, Salaam-e-ishq was a pathetic movie for any public, be it the masses or the classes. And GURU was one of the best movies of Bollywood in recent time, let alone this year. GURU is a classy movie which was also liked by the masses & the general public.

Guru was not a classy movie by any means. Classy movies don't need Mallika Sherawat and heroine singing and dancing in rain. It was decent movie spoiled by commericial indulgence. I hate when directors like Maniratnam's caliber do things like this. I agree with your point that Guru is best movie this year but not "CLASSY" at all.

Donno why everyone is cursing the movie. I was skeptical reading all the poor reviews. However, still went for it, and lo and behold, it was a treat to watch. Cage does enough to delight the eyeballs as do Mendes.

Hey Ady,

Dude. A movie, which i found good might not be that good for you, and vive versa. If you are going to watch a comic book action hero, please don't expect all the depth and emotions, which i suppose, make a good movie for you. A "The Departed" would be diffeent from a "Ghost Rider".

Hey Raja,

I am follower of your reviews and respect them too. But today is one of those days when you faultered (Vivah's revew by you was also a mistake).
Have you been following the other reviews on Ghost Riders. I mean the reviews by american critics?! They have butchered the movie. Such a senseless piece of crap. Why does even a pathetic english piece of crap have to get 3 stars??!

Hi dude,

just cause some critics say something, doesn't mean you have to agree with them.. I like rottentomatoes but that can't stop me from liking the film, can it?

also, dude, check the comicbook fans reviews.. Have a feeling they might tell a different story. :-)

dude, even the fans of the comic book have written bash review for this movie. It's an universally hated movie. But since, reviews are pretty much one's own opinion, you are entitled to like it even if it's a pathetic movie like this one. But reviewing it on a site and telling readers to go watch this crap is a CRIME and should be made punishable by LAW under some new section.

lol

yes you canno stop anyone from Liking the movie ..uhad made $ 70 million in less than 10 days ..But honestly its crap..I saw this last tuesday and could not to get out of the theatre..its a B Grade flick ..But more importantly I think Raja Sen is biased towards comic books made into movies ..He thought Superman was great but it was just OK..I believe you should look at the merits of a movie before reviewing ..

Anup Kumar Das
must see
by Anup Kumar Das on Feb 24, 2007 06:33 PM

very nice movie and a must see

what wikipedia says

"Following the western comics character who originally used the name, this Ghost Rider first appeared in Marvel Spotlight vol. 1, #5 (Aug. 1972), created by writers Roy Thomas and Gary Friedrich and artist Mike Ploog.

Johnny Blaze, a motorcycle stunt performer in a traveling circus, sold his soul to what he believed was Satan but was actually the demon Mephisto (a retcon), in order to save the life of his stepfather, Crash Simpson. Blaze was bound with the demon Zarathos and transformed into a leather-clothed skeleton, his head cloaked in a sheath of flame. The character received his own series in 1973, with penciller Jim Mooney handling most of the first nine issues. Several different creative teams mixed-and-matched until penciller Don Perlin began a long stint with #26, eventually joined by writer Michael Fleisher through #58. This Ghost Rider's career ended when Zarathos fled Blaze's body in issue #81 (June 1983), the finale, in order to pursue Centurious, a villain introduced near the end of the series' run with whom Zarathos had a history.

Blaze would mistake Noble Kale (an earlier Ghost Rider, the first known to have utilized the name in links with the supernatural) for Zarathos during the subsequent Ghost Rider series (1990-1998), and after attempting to destroy him, eventually became an ally. Johnny, like his long-lost brother Danny Ketch (see below), are direct descendants of Kale. (Johnny's true last name is Blaze inherited from his father Barton Blaze. Barbara and Daniel Ketch's true last names remain unknown as their father might or might not be Barton Blaze).

Johnny Blaze was supposed to have become Kale's next host, but because of a deal their mother made with Mephisto, Blaze was "spared" this fate. However, Blaze became the host for another entity, Zarathos, who had been stripped of his memories and was originally under Blaze's control. As the series progressed, that control faded and Zarathos' true personality was evident whenever Ghost Rider was unleashed.

Thomas, Marvel's editor-in-chief at the time, described the character's genesis:
%u201C       I had made up a character as a villain in Daredevil %u2014 a very lackluster character %u2014 called Stunt-Master... a motorcyclist. Anyway, when Gary Friedrich started writing Daredevil, he said, "Instead of Stunt-Master, I'd like to make the villain a really weird motorcycle-riding character called Ghost Rider." He didn't describe him. I said, "Yeah, Gary, there's only one thing wrong with it," and he kind of looked at me weird, because we were old friends from Missouri, and I said, "That's too good an idea to be just a villain in Daredevil. He should start out right away in his own book." When Gary wasn't there the day we were going to design it, Mike Ploog, who was going to be the artist, and I designed the character. I had this idea for the skull-head, something like Elvis' 1968 Special jumpsuit, and so forth, and Ploog put the fire on the head, just because he thought it looked nice. Gary liked it, so they went off and did it.[1]       %u201D

Friedrich on the above, in 2001:
%u201C       Well, there's some disagreement between Roy, Mike and I over that. I threatened on more than one occasion that if Marvel gets in a position where they are gonna make a movie or make a lot of money off of it, I'm gonna sue them, and I probably will. ...It was my idea. It was always my idea from the first time we talked about it, it turned out to be a guy with a flaming skull and rode a motorcycle. Ploog seems to think the flaming skull was his idea. But, to tell you the truth, it was my idea.[2]"

Why any English movie never gets less than 3 stars? Are we so attracted by anything white that we become blind to their drawbacks ? Anyways, I believe Indians can't give a good/justified review of a Hollywood movie. Most of them like most of their movies.

Not all the movies that come are good, case in point, Ghost Rider, Deja Vu, etc. But a huge number of bad movies don't come here, that's true. Lucky us P;) As it is, we are already forced to see all those crap trailers of hindi movies when there are hardly 1 good bollywood movie for every month (i've tried to give some space for hindi movies, but many of the hits still make me mad);(
