Bollywood is a national platform. It is a conglomeration of talent from all the states in the country. If it is better than onesome regional movie industry, I say, it better BE better! If I were ever to indulge in such a discussion, I would be curious to see how it compares against his regional language movie industry - If hisher state does not even have one, I rest my case there. If it has, then we can have a healthy discussion in terms of quality, budget, talent, viewership etc.,
But really, the thread has progressed in such poor taste from the first message on, that it feels beneath dignity to be seen posting in the same board as a few here...sad!

then why are you posting? if you want to contribute, contribute by giving some useful analysis about movies or actors. no point in putting yourself on a pedestal and lamenting about things.

Regional Cinema needs more recognition at national level... The uniqueness of India is unity in diversity (Duh!) but some people wish it were a melting pot like united states ...that would be pretty bland...isn't it. Bottom line...regional cinema needs more respect..not from someone outside but from fellow indians...Some people have posted here some absurd comments about Tamilians...which is surely out of place...we are talking about movie industries. and compare apples with apples...
I always felt the difficulty to comeup with somekind of 'National Phenomenon' in India, Just because its sooo diverse linguistically...
Finally , for future citizens , we should make it mandatory for each citizen to be conversant in English Hindi in addition to regional language...thats the only way...
--while people boast infront of foreigners about the diversity of India, they fail to emulate and practice it at home...The lack of respect for regional things makes it evident... Dont forget we all came down from Indus civilization and there is NO aryan invasion...Just In case if that was the basis for the bias with some people...
We, as a incredibly diverse nation, have the additional responsibility of knowing our own country better..because whats true in Assam is not true in Gujarat...We just have to be more aware, knowledgable and sensitive to regional issues and at the same time maintain national perspective....the additional work has to be done to be and become strong as a world power..

to add that Mohan has supported Tamil actors like Kamal Haasan and Revati and some Tamil scientists and politicians. He is a truly rounded person with good knowledge but most of these goons are blabbering without any real knowledge. Just my opinion!!
