Means to earn money!
by boyabouttown on Dec 20, 2007 04:56 PM

Critics are just another bunch of people, trying to earn money by doing nothing but pick out the good and bad things in a movie. They can't be an actor because they lack the zing being an actor so the best thing left to do is rant about a film. Since liking or disliking a film is all about opinion and left to an individual's taste , critics piece about a film is nothing else but well another opinion. The difference is that the critic puts the piece in good language doesn't mean we should heed to his opinion and give so much weight to it. I have seen bad movies like OSO being given 5 stars. But again OSO being a trash is just my opinion and although I can write about it being a trash I don't want to impose my thinking on others. So, critics, just lay off and get some better things to do in life .

most of the indian critics use High English litrature in their review rather than the focussing on the movie because similar kinda work is done by their counterpart in other countries. They feel that using this they will try to show their intelluctal level. As far as bollywood movies are considered they are made considering the target market of crores of Indian not a particular niche market because people watch movies to enjoy & Feel it rather than to learn every time from it.And if SRK movies r working on BOX Office so there should be something in that movie that attracted people .This message was for all the PSEUDO Intellectual People..

on critics

Hey, I watched most critics rip apart Madhuri Dixit's come back film. And then i saw it. Honestly, i enjoyed the film. everything about it. Needless to say Madhuri was spectacular. That got me thinking, why were the critics so harsh towards this film. it surely merited more than one star. Why some critics have Saawariya 2.5 stars, Goal 2 stars, Laaga Chunari too got some 2.5 stars. I still cannot fathom why was there so much of unfair criticism towards Aaja Nachle. How did the critics judge this film??

this is a great piece. Raja sen just as his terribly biased and unintelligent pieces sounds full of hot air having no perspective of any substance. Rediff must really consider stopping him from writing for the site henceforth.

is it not just pain evident..and Khalid kinds... come on guys spare us from this torture.

Critics, have global standards...be responsible!
by Ram M on Dec 07, 2007 09:44 AM

You owe it a beautiful medium of cinema, to yourselves and to the people around you. I am forever grateful to the makers of Madadayo, Forest Gump, Stalker, God Father etc and many more for creating beauties on screen. Don't mock the hard work and genuine genius of their creators. These movies and their impressions last a lifetime. Compare them with 'paisa vasools', '3hr full fun', 'keep your brains out' and OSO types that our bollywood dishes time after time. In reality, we are a pitiable lot not understanding where we actually stand.

A movie is a movie!
by Ramesh Kapoor on Dec 07, 2007 04:09 AM

Period. There's nothing to sing about. A good movie, suddenly becomes a bore, because a song is introduced and the continuity is broken. There are very few songless movies that have come our way in Indian cinema. There are over a billion Indians and all don't sing. The reality is very few do. Similarly, there a billion critics, and those who are the loudest in their claims are the worst assessors of a good product needless to say.

Stopped using Film Critics
by Rakhi Gupta on Dec 07, 2007 12:17 AM  | Hide replies

I have to add that inspired movies should be heavly discouraged. A movie like Partner which was absolutely boring, stupid and most importantly a copy of HItch should of gotten extrememly low ratings. Finally, a superstar does not indicate good acting. Salman Khan is not a good actor. SRK is good when he has a good director behind him. In KJ movies he hams like crazy. Aamir Khan, Akshay Khanna, Rani, Madhuri, Amitabh, Anil Kapoor are the only stars who have been consistenly good. They hit the right cord in their performances and show versatiliy in their characterization. Gandhi, My father was the best movie of the year and should of gotten 4-5 stars in every review. Akshaye Khanna's performances should of gotten a lot of accolades from film critics, but I did not see this happen. It's disappointing!

I agree that 'inspired' movies should be panned.

As regards Gandhi my Father - rediff and a few other critics did give it a good rating. Why r you disappointed with that?
