In 21st Century Women still thinks that they need freedom,but where as stats says tht there are more women are employed than male every year but unable to make the impact as men does.There are more laws procteting women than men & animal.In this modern era women are protected by law,encouraged by media and pampered by activist for all worng reasons...female foeticide remains common even among educated women.For millions of Indian Women its not Sarojini Naidu,Kiran Bedi,Indra Gandhi,Mother Teressa or Kalpana Chawala who are role model rather they prefer to choose over Sania mirza,Ashwariya rai,Rakhi Sawant or Priyanka chopra, who are brainless sexgoddess trying to expose themself to popularity and fame instead of exploring our nation and its traditional society to whole world and lead the youngsters for a bright future which is helpful for India.For these brainless beauties whose freedom is expressed purely in her ability to show as much breast, leg and midriff as she can.This sex goddess won't question tradition - because she can't be bothered,because it will affect her marriage chances,or because she simply does not possess the power to think.Freedom" is increasingly defined as the ability to show skin or smoke and drink in public. When women here talk about individual freedom - as opposed to the collective freedom of equal opportunities in education and at work - the freedom they tend to be thinking of is the freedom to be constantly sexy.

Abs, I think you are relating ordinary, working women to film stars and celebrities. The freedom that women seek is freedom from bias (which is also reflecting in the way u are speaking), freedom from social issues like dowry, and the freedom to live life on their own terms.
In the glamour world, it is very important to look good and sexy. Don't actors like Salman Khan, SRK, John Abrahim, Saif Ali Khan, Aamir, and so many others workout hours in the gym to look sexy and appealing? They even go to the extent of taking steriods to look sexy with their big muscles. Don't these actors take off their clothes to show off their well-toned bodies?? So, what's wrong if actresses do that same? It depends on your mentality how you see them.
And how can you say that women don't make a big impact? Today, we have so many fields that are women-dominated and are ruled by women. We have Science & Medicine, Technical Writing (eLearning), Literature, Interior Design, Arts, Teaching & Training, Journalism, Enterpreneurship and so many other fields that are ruled by women. In various Govt. and Private sectors also, women are seen at top positions and as enterpreneurs.
Women have managed to balance and "manage" their personal and professional lives excellently. Whereas, what do many men do? They have get together sessions after office hours in which they drink, crib, and make fun? If that is what you call making an impact, only God can help you!

Vrishiti do u think modern women left behind compared to celebs for thier lifestyle, fashion statements,romance,works....in my belive an ordinary women can do more than celebs,celebs are in the lights of paparazis,hence thier action is notable. But what about ordinary women working in call centres (nigh shifts), outdoor shifts / tours....do u know few months ago in a call centre of dell a drainage was blocked with condoms, do u think men wear condom to m*bate, i still say tht women use Freedom as to define the ability to show skin or smoke and drink in public and have unsafe-sex before marriage, then foeticide (a murder) and gift aids to thier husbands and child after marriage. When women talk about individual freedom parents should limit thier freedom...tell me if i am wrong

Abs, You are absolutely wrong... Not one human has the right to curb any other humans way of thought- you can explain, reason and even rebel... Your attitude reeks of supression... Tell me why would you ever want to do that to your girl-child...She is but a flower who needs the tenderest love and affection... What needs to happen is that men need to take some responsibility for the actions of their fellow-men. Every time you see somone debasing a woman, stop him- reason with him... As for women infecting their husbands with Aids, the reality is that it is quite the other way around- wake up and stop fooling yourself!

Abs, why are you generalizing things to such a great extent? If there were a few cases like this, it does not mean that all women misuse their freedom or somthing like that. I have worked in at least 10 organizations and have found women very hard working, dignified, and more efficient and intelligent than men. I really respect women who help their families with additional incomes and also help around in family managament. I agree with Vrishti that it is the men who misuse their freedom most of the time. Most men lack sense of responsibility. I also personally feel that women are better decision makers and managers. Whatever decisions my wife has made for our family have proved to be better in the long run.

I can accept whatever you have said but I can%u2019t accept your extreme generalization of things. I am a journalist and also a mother and I know that there are only 5% WOMEN who may misuse their freedom, but there are 95% MEN who misuse their freedom and bring it to a shameful level!!
I would like to again advice you to analyze both aspects first. If you are talking about women, you should also talk about men. If the freedom of certain women is a problem, the freedom of certain MEN is also a bigger problem because MEN go to the extent of harming and violence! So, if you say that parents should keep a check on their daughters, I would like to add that parents should keep a stricter check on the freedom of their SONS. Fathers and mothers both should teach good values to their SONS from childhood itself so that they don%u2019t develop into characterless, sex addict brats!
My advice again, don%u2019t set double standards for men and women%u2026they both are humans, they both need to breathe, they both want space, and they both have right to freedom and expression%u2026we just need to check that this freedom is utilized in the right direction. My personal experience: only 5% women misuse their freedom and 95% MEN misuse their freedom. We need to teach MEN to be more disciplined, self controlled, and decent.

I know that now all you male chauvinists will say that females should dress up like that or that if they don't want men to treat them like sex objects. To this, my answer is that why should always women adjust themselves? Why can men be not more decent, disciplined, and controlled? I have seen most decent girls and even minor girls getting sexually abused! And even if a woman is most indecently dressed, does it become justified for men to abuse and assault her? Who gives men this right? If men can have their personal preferences regarding dressing and public behaviour, why can women not have the same freedom? Why do women need to %u201Cprotect%u201D themselves from men? Are men animals who can pounce upon them anytime?
Why do you have all the rules for women? There should be stricter and more harsh rules for MEN so that we can discipline them and curb their freedom! If the freedom of MEN is controlled, this society would become more civilized and a better place for women.
I hope you guys would want your wives, sisters, girlfriends, and friends to have a good life.

Abs, I think u are too anti-women! Or, u are too insecure of women who are capable of making a mark! I can accept your comment ONLY if you provide me a justification of what modern MEN do. Some of the things that I would like to throw light upon are:
- Many modern MEN are simply characterless, sex addicts, and morally degraded who always find opportunities of having sex before marriage and some are so shameless that they don%u2019t stop this practice even after marriage even if it requires them to cheat on their partners. - Modern MEN have unsafe sex and then transfer diseases to their wives and also unborn children. - Modern MEN attend late night parties, drink like hell, and are chain smokers. - Modern MEN, despite having a decent earning, ask for dowry, and despite being educated, behave like animals by ill treating their wives. - Modern MEN are criminals, who, to fulfill their unjustified sexual cravings, can%u2019t stop themselves from even committing heinous crimes like rape and for money, they can even rob or murder! They even stoop to the level of passing lewd comments and abuse. - Modern MEN are mentally sick and they don%u2019t require any emotional bonding to get into any kind of relationship or even sex. - Modern MEN seriously lack self-control, self-discipline, and self-respect%u2026and when they loose all control, they put the blame on women (like you are doing) for everything!

Why did you include Sania Mirza in the list of Ashwariya Rai, Rakhi Sawant and Priyanka Chopra? The concept of people falling for actors / actresses is unavoidable. People with lack of purpose and self esteem begin to adore some celebrity or the other. Celebrity obssession is like some kind of addiction. Don't compare celebrity obsession to real issues like Women empowerment etc ...
But... Somehow, these celebrity (fake as they might be in real life) are perceived by people as examples of Empowerment and symbols of Success. If that inspires people whats wrong with it? If Preity Zinta can inspire people to be bold, what is wrong with it?
Drinking, smoking, wearing revealing clothes might hurt your sentiments of deceny, yet the individual has the right to make the final choice. Progressive Indian Women are not negatively affected by these illusions of Freedom. Indian women don't walk around in Bikini just because Bips did it in Dhoom 2.
