Transformers is not one for the oscars...nor will it be on par with the other comic-movie adaptations like Iron Man and Batman Begins when it comes to directorial prowess. but it can give you the sudden surge of excitement like no other movie released during recent times. call it the most expensive toy commercial ever made. call it the longest car ad in history. we don't care. we just loved it. Hasbro and General Motors had a field day with this movie with product placement up in high gear. but we were more concerned about Sam and Optimus and the safety of Allspark. and thats a good sign.
the movie's moments of peak are many. even in a theatre in kerala where english movies are not received that well, the response was overwhelming. in the highway battle sequence, bonecrusher rams through a bus towards optimus prime and as prime turns to block the raging robot, bonecrusher throws himself at the autobot...and the crowd erupts!!! that was a real surprise and a treat to watch...a cgi character getting the same treatment as a real movie star. similar reactions were witnessed when optimus strikes a Bruce Lee inspired pose before the final show down with Megatron and when bumble bee transforms from the crap camaro look to the all new camaro mode.
loopholes and bloopers aplenty, transformers will have an errata sheet which will be a mile long. Michael Bay can iron out the flaws in the sequel with a little help from one Mister Steven Spielberg.

with all due respect to your argument...
just because you do not like or understand something, that doesn't mean in anyway that the topic in question is silly...
transformers will never win oscars for its directorial excellence, but there are no questions regarding its sheer entertaining factor and cgi brilliance...
it may not appeal to an audience who prefer intense dramas and romantic movies or bloody vilolent movies...Transformers is for car guys, fans of the franchise and for the kid in you who loves to be surprised by the whole aspect of giant robots battling each other.
Hope i made my point clear without hurting your convictions.
this is undoubtedly the best movie of the year.even if i were not a transformers nut (which i am), i would have liked this movie.the scene where the truck transforms into a giant robot was just too incredible to behold.true, the storyline wan't great but then who cares about the story when cars and trucks change into giant robots and battle it out in the streets.besides this is just the first transformers movie. the story will evolve in the sequels as many new characters and back stories come into the picture.keep an eye on starscream.it always get interesting when he is up to one of his schemes.and to those who believe that this movie is inferior to bollywood and south indian movies, i will only say this.all that our bollywood dream merchants are capable of is to copy english movie concepts and turn them into garish, brainless song and dance numbers.a south indian movie already features a song where a SUV turns into a robot and dances with the hero and heroine.not to mention that bike ad where number of bikes morph out of a bike.so just go to the theatre, sit back and ENJOY TRANSFORMERS!
