Instead of adding colour to films, they should concentrate on digitally remastering them by retaining the old colour as it is. As of now, it has become very tough on the eyes to watch old files as you cannot see a single frame properly. These people should see Lawrence of Arabia a masterpiece which was digitally remastered.

I think you have a more valid point...old films are seen with a different angle and view...black and white picture seems to be necessarily attached to them...so its better to make their quality good....Even if it costs much, it will be more worthwhile than colouring them....

Possibly very few would have seen from this perspective but actually "Lagaan" story was a visible rehash of "Naya Daur". Take your pick:
A: Dilip Kumar=Aamir Khan B: Vyjantimala=Gracy Singh (object of affection for both A & C) C: Ajit=Yashpal Sharma (Both collude against A with D for personal vendatta) D: Jeevan/ Machine=Britishers E: Tonga Race=Cricket Match F: Of course underdog wins in both=victory of human spirit. G: Both had overt dose of patriotism.
Its good news for the Goldies lovers. Would be great if the song "Ik deewana aate jaate hamse chhed kare" is also included in the new release. As compared to today's lyrics, this song was considered "vulger" by standards of that time and removed from the film.

I feel most of the people are not aware regarding the "missing" song from the film. can you please mail me that song if you have - at my ID gktandasi@rediffmail.com
Will someone please ban this sick "indutry" called Bollywood? They are experts at churning out nonsense and more nonsense! Bollywood is a disgrace and an apology for India and Indians.

Maybe you are right bro but you know it's embarrassing when you see our so-called blockbusters getting sneered at and ridiculed for the over-the-top and incredible plot sequences. And to even think we are equal to Hollywood! Such audacity..!

Why are hollywood films supposed to be so great? what we see here is a fraction of all those made there, and rest are not worth watching. Indian movies may not be technically as good but those are Indian stories and of course will be different from hollywood fare. Naya Daur is a prime example. I suggest you should watch it and then comment.

Yep Jerry I haven't watched Naya Daur but I can tell you this one thing, we got miles to got before we can beat our chest and be jingoistic about ourselves and pat ourselves at the back - be it any field - technology, life sciences, entertainment..the list is endless...

I think you have lost your brain... Dont comment without knowing what it is. u think hollywood is great?? It depends on what u want to watch. so, just because your taste is different, why do u want to ban bollywood? u sound like Edi Amin to me. Learn to respect others space and interests.

Great Sriram, but what makes you so adamantly offesnive about bollywood? have u not seen ur own tamil and telugu movies-sivakasi,pokkiri,veersami,thriuviliyadal arambham etc. where is cinematic excellence there? you seem to view bollywood with jaundiced eyes and have rose tinted glasses while viewing tamil movies.barring a maniratnam here and a cheran there, there's hardly anyone worth his salt.

Venky, kya baat kara hai re tu. You dont know Kishan Kumar? Oh Lord, please forgive him for he doesnt know what he is saying.
It is great classics can be revisited by this colouring process. But There was one mistake made by Ravi Chopra. He says that Mughal E Azam was from 1957 but Mugha E Azam was released in 1960.
Naya Daud was a mile stone of Hindi movie like Mother India,Do Ankhen Bara Haath,Do Bigha Jamin,Guide,Sholey,Laagan etc.Nobody can forget it.It is very good to rebuild those B/W Classics into colour.Hope it will be great as Mughal-E-Azam and entertain us.
I think this whole idea of rejuevanting the older films is very good. I think now the youngsters who would not have had seen good cinema coz it was black and white with bad prints can now be able to share the classical movies and cherish what the yesteryears great have left for them.
