Full Blown Assault!!!
by sizz on Apr 28, 2007 09:58 AM  | Hide replies

I am a woman and sorry to say: This was not A PECK, it was a full blown assault.

If Shilpa had any sense while he was halfway down her neck, she should have told him to stop. She clearly is either stupid or enjoying the attention. But that does not mean we have to be assualted with this sick display!

If you are in front of truck drivers discussing AIDS, this is disgusting.

And by the way do you think another actress like Rani or Kajol would have taken it like Shilpa??

A woman can always say NO, she chose not to!

It would also be interesting to note that the kiss was meant for Gere to explain that by kissing one does not get AIDS, the question is does Gere or Shilpa have AIDS? Why did they need to kiss?

I agree that the kiss was pretty bizarre and totally uncalled for. But what followed after is also an over-reaction to the kiss.

Its easy to sit in front of the tv and judge Shilpa. But in her defense the kiss lasted but 30 seconds and she did appear shocked at it to even react. How can you be so sure Ms.Sizz about Kajol and Rani's reaction to the same kiss?

In my opinion she made light of the whole issue and tried to let it pass. Which at that moment was appropriate, considering she was there for a noble cause.

How she dealt with it later, is all but her business. I don't recall such a furor over the Rakhee Sawant and Mika Singh episode. After all wasn't she also violated in somewhat a worse manner? Wonder what makes this kiss so much more appalling...

Mr. Guy , pls not Shilpa & Gere did all that as thei will & has no regrets at all. I dont undustand Why you narrow minded people making a issue out of it. If Shilpa has a problem she will ask for police help, What is your problem. Whem stinking groups like Bajrang Dal, VHP, BJP & SS freely attack women, children, innocent people, minority groups, other religion , spiritual leaders etc. where goes the respect to brotherhood, shamfulness, Human credibility, embaracement etc.. You are on the one side bank of the dirty river, don't point out at the other bank of the same river, OK.

I dont know why you blow this thing so much out of proportion. I think our country would do well if we just stop interfering in other peoples personal values. You cannot dictate other peoples morals or moral values. It is upto them to decide. We are a free country and every individual has his/her rights to do what they wish. I dont think you or I know what relationship Gere and Shilpa have and or whether the kiss was staged, I think we ought to think about bigger problems that we face in our country instead of focusing on such things. What about poverty? What about illiteracy? What about improving sanitation? Any thoughts? Or havent your parents or school system taught you not to think about them. Please do something useful!!!!! and ignore these things. These are not things that decide our country's future.
regards
Sai

In India women have got absolute freedom which is not right, otherwise the incident like Gere kissing Shilpa in public would not have taken place. These girls are entertaining girls. What they have????? By showing body, etc. they earn. They have no shame at all and better than what said by Rahul Singh.

Seems like a very passionate topic for you Guy. Just wonder why there wasn't such a hue and cry when Mika smooched Rakhee Sawant. Now wasn't that molestation too? How come no one filed cases against him?

I agree with you. Gere could not control his temper on seeing Shilpa.. She was too sexy in that saree and that wire blouse. Thats y, under some pretext, he did what he wanted.

Unruly, Indecent, Richard!! Some people in this forum
act as if they r born and brought up in England and
have screwed some 10 girls before marrying. What crap?

This is indecent in any count and thats it.

Agree with u. we Indians feel very proud eating MC donald's burger, coca-cola talking, wearing..everything borrowed from western culture..infact after some years there will not be any Bahrtiya or Hindustani culture like thing. this is what globalization brings to us..we r going to forget what we r. what is our origin. One reason that we r getting annoyed bez we r very much influenced by these boliwood gyes. whatever they do, we think that they r the real people to represent the whole country. actually what i think that they r just people who stays and live in india just to earn money and fame. I bet if they r to stay in any of the indian village their real character will just be different what they pose.

We as proud Indians should respect our constitution, not talk about things like Fatwa. Do you want to live by killing anyone who doesnt not like your ideas? What kind of life would that be? Please focus on bigger issues, India needs attention on people who are getting poorer, people who do not have a life like you and me! Lets move on and stop arguing about such things. Its upto shilpa shetty and Richard Gere to sort this out not us people. Let us show our guts on issues like poverty and illiteracy. I would like to see one of us fight against AIDS and also one of us to educate our own people. Do we not have enough people to spread education? Its a shame that Richard Gere has to come down to do it and its a shame that he organises these programs what happened to our own people? Now despite all this we have enough time on our hands to criticize? Its time to clean our own house before we point fingers at others.
Regards
Sai

Shilpa & Gere
by on Apr 28, 2007 01:51 AM  | Hide replies

Problem is not indian culture but Gere's stratospheric success. 99.9% of indian men would like to be him but can never be him. I bet the judge issuing the warrant will not be averse to an invitation to Hollywood should Gere forward one to him. For a country supposedly on its way to becoming an economic super power, its fondness for "female oppression" remains alive and kicking.

Shilpa-Gere's kiss is no one's business.
by Destiny ABCD on Apr 27, 2007 11:53 PM  | Hide replies

It shocks me beyond common sense, that why in the world there was so much of furror created over a harmless, intentionless "peck on the cheek". If that weren't enough...Shilpa and Gere are way over the legal age of being adults and consensually indulged in it. If you people really want to take a stand, then please take a stand against all the eve teasers who pass vulgar comments, or obscenily gestulate women, girls of India. When something like that happens you guys would either be a part of that obscenity or ignore that its happening. Where does all the stand of "Ask the man to apologise, get him a two month sentence blah blan blah..go".
I know, it gives us immense pride to stand for a cause, but please stand for a real cause, a real issue! We can't make our nation a better place by targeting celebrities and asking them to set the right example for the youth.

uhh., its too much. In privacy, its fine. Not in public.
If you talk about cultural shift .. Believe me, even in US or UK .. people cannot accept this kind of public kind for the images they have.

Please think.

On your advice I did see the video. And trust me I personally found nothing offensive. I think we see more kisses, more obscenity and more crassness than that on TV, Movies or magazines every day. Surprisingly no effigies are burnt and no arrest warrants issued...
And I have been in both US and UK. Trust me this entire act would have not even as much as raised an eyebrow...and not because they are shameless or cultureless but probably because somewhere they can draw a line between obscenity and a candid display of affection.

Put Shilpa in jail..for what? I think atleast she was taken up by surprise. She wasn't the one who initiated the kiss...if that kiss is at all worth an issue. I guess we should put our ancestors in jails too for publicly sculpting erotic sculptures in Khajurao or at the least demolish them because they too are publicly depicting the act of love and pleasure!
