A girl getting married to a muslim will always remain of her previous religion which was with her for more than 20 years of her initial life. It can not be changed in heart. So no convertion of heart, instead their children will be more close to mother than father in terms of preachings.

Why no other news but just A-A wedding?
by Electronic Screw on Apr 18, 2007 02:10 PM

I dont see news about Dubai WafiCity mall robbery of diamonds and jewellery worth Dhs 50 million. Is Rediff, just looking at A-A wedding?

Here is the video taken on mobile of the hollywood style robbery at Wafi City Mall.

I fail to understand why people who don't like writing on celebraties or criticise rediff continue to comment on it or read these articles? There are other articles on rediff they can read! Stop preaching and practice what you preach.

It is attitude like this, which is the real problem of modern india. 'Chalta Hein', or 'Why bother ?'. Well, I do bother when a media with such popularity is doing injustice to the duties of it. Every media has some bit of duty of social responsibility (Its no Law, but something which was practiced in the world, till a decade or so ago. and Many medias are still managing to continue do it, and still running a profittable business).

Do you have a problem if third-rate pornographic contents are sold in masses at the doorsteps of schools ? Would you still say 'Why bother ? those who dont want to buy wont buy, and those who want to buy would buy. If you are not interested, just ignore it!' ? I am sure, you would not mind saying it.

Consider selling marijuana is not illegal anymore. Would you mind if its sold in masses across the country ? does it have an impact on the future of the nation ?

Its the same principle: My concerns are not just about me not getting the right news or finding wrong news. My concerns in general are towards the decreasing civic senses of media. Rediff is one of them. Times of India is almost there.

I practice what i preach, and I will continue to raise my voice against anything that I would see as a potential issue to the society. If you have a problem with my stance, let me ask you the same question. Why do you bother about my stance ? Just ignore it ! You cant, can you ?

Cheers

Bakwas kar rahe ho abhilash!why are you linking this simple thing to big deals like marijuana and pornography?.Alhad sathe simply said ki agar tumhe ye news article interest nahi karta to mat padho.how can you be ideotic enough to compare it with sale of drugs and marijuana.celebrity hain, popupar hain, unko cover kia rediff ne to kya galat kiya.there are dozens of other news articles too.why dont you concentrate on them.ja jakar apna jhanda le aur politicians ke corruption ke khilaf bol....hospital mein rape ke khilaf bol...reservation based on caste ke khilaf bol.bahut issues hain hero apne desh mein,ja wahan ja kar apna dimag chala.you people are filmsy.drugs sale se ban hatne jaise mangadanth batein na bana.jalo mat..baranari karo!

Very correct Abhilash... good one!! but some EMPTY-HEADED people like alhad sathe cannot just think what impact these issues will have on society. maybe they will only come to know when they will personally affect by this.

Ash in Pak !!
by Abhilash VM on Apr 17, 2007 03:27 PM  | Hide replies

What has this got to do with Ash in Pak? MQM is not standing for Ash, but are against the self declared shariat of lal masjid mullahs.

Rediff has become a tabloid. Now, stop arguing at me with the standard statement 'then why are you reading it?'. I believe every media carries some bit of social responsibility of being meaningful to the society that promotes them. unfortunately a country like india is not matured enough that people can judge what must win and what must loose. Yellow journalism, demi-gods, and catchy head-lines (with irrelevant content) is what rediff is up to. Not just rediff, but most of the substandard medias of India. Unfortunately we have a huge population that every one of these devils get their share of subscription.

a popular website like rediff must own up a bit more social responsibility in journalism. You could perhaps help divert the future india's attention to some issues which are worth a stand, thoughts which are worth a life, or entertainment which is worth the time.

Yes abhilash you are quite right. Very conveniently people say - why the heck are you reading if you dont like it. But it has becoming and increasingly disturbing fact that Media which is supposed to be acting responsibly is also acting in a selfish manner to gain cheap popularity. Rediff is one of such media's now. Not only talking about the topic that you have addressed ... also see the topic where rediff has very conveniently posted a link saying " Video : Aishwarya - Abhishek pairing not happening " What utter rubbish. Just to have readers to somehow read their stuff the media can go to any extent, least realising how damaging it can become at times for anything or any persons life. BUt they dont seem to be bothered in front of personal gains.

Similarly - topics like the one posted for protests in pak for Aishwarya - Wow did I find even one sentence in the whole coverage about people in Pakistan being against aishwarya or protesting against her. I think rediff and other media needs to bring in quality stuff.

I think like earlier we used to read rediff news because of its content - now more and moer people prefer to look for more qualitative channels and more relevant channels to browse for news.

So much so forth - there is such a huge massacre that took place in Virginia Tech which has so many Indian students also studying there, but apart from 1 link there is no more coverage since yesterday ... but talk about aishwarya and abhishek wedding and the whole page howsoever downtroddena dn trivial is completely splashed about their upcoming wedding. how ridiculous can media get - to ask people to discuss the abhiwarya wedding and take video shots of students and interview them for their opinion. Let them live in peace and I think they need to realise that they aer here for a meaningful peurpose and get relevent news across the globe and not discuss the differences b/w aishwarya and abhishek and what they are wearing and who is their mehendiwali and who is not invited .... rubbish.

In the whole page the university shhotout link is placed right in the bottom as if it werent of any relevance - even after one professor of indian origin being killed and one indian student missing and som many more children shot to death .... but human massacre seems to be of no relevance to the media in front of such sucking gossip.
