find it morons logic that people say oh its just a kiss etc. Here, people are missing the real picture. If aids awareness was the motive then they should have handed those truckers condoms and explained them using slide shows how to use condoms etc., the benefits of using condoms etc. I don't know how by watching a 57 year old man going out of gear with a 31 year old woman kissing will help people understand about aids.
Also, people who completely call India antiquated need to see what is going on in USA. In New Orleans 4 kids initiated a sex orgy (ages 11-13), when their teacher was away from the class. This is not an isolated situations more such incidents involving kids having sex are increasing at a rapid speed (note the fact that the kids here are not even in the teens). These incidents are taking place in a country where sex education begins very early. There is strict implementation of viewer ratings etc. So, what's wrong with this developed country which is the mecca for most Indians, NRI's etc. These USA crazed Indians laugh at their fellow countrymen. The bottom line is what about the supreme culture of USA, the land of their dreams? Why are people still getting aids in USa after all them are supposed to be aware of condoms right?

Just because u didnt get a chance, u moron, y r u moaning. Its a universal fact that we take the first chance available. Its the nature of the beast. Tell me how many times u felt like "it" when u saw Shilpa on screen.
French people kiss each other on the cheek as a greeting, and in Paris they do it 4 times on each cheek!! men and women kissing each other on the cheek everywhere all over the country in public for hunderds of years!! they must be the most uncoultured and crude people on earth!! unlike us Indian people who cannot stand a kiss in public, those french people must have AIDS spead all over their country unlike us Indians who....oh, actually were the ones with the major AIDS problem, hmmmm???

News Flash:Reports alleging Taliban presence in Pakistan proven false. Update:Presence of huge Taliban contingent in India documented over past week-end. Message to all raving hairballs: Shilpa sez everything is cool, Baby. So chill out.
Obviously he was hamming and he went overboard much to Shilpa Shetty's surprise and discomfiture! Probably, Richard Gere never expected that it would lead to this kind of backlash! Maybe he is regretting what he has done!
Every time, if something (kissing etc) happens in public, there are many types of comments and arguments by us. some people say "whats wrong in that? come out of our backward indian culture...you are making the whole country look like a bunch of backward illiterates...if kissing in public is wrong, how come india is 2 nd largest populated nation and many more dialogues"... the other people say "If this culture continues tomorrow our sister and daughter will be like gulz in western countries... we are ok with that?? jus think will you agree if your sis or daughter going out for saturday night, pubs, and bar dance..and many more dialogues"...
Now... Last year i got to attended a public lecture by ex-prime minister of Malaysia (who was a primeminister for more than 20 years)..In his lecture he said "do u think that we are developping just having western influence in our culture..do u think sleeping every where with whom we want is a good culture? Changing spouse or partners like T-shirts is a good culture? West is not a role model for us...look for East..look India...observe their undisturbed culture for thousands of years...goes on" I was happy to hear, the way the powerful ex-primeminister was describing the things. so there was something great in our culture dont deny it. The main point we need to think is..." It does mean that we can do the masterbation in public since most people do it everyday and frequently"...."It does not mean that we do sex on the road since every couple involved in it everyday"...."It does not mean that we can go for shit on the roadside since we got to go for it everyday".."It does not mean that we can go nude on the road since every human being having the same organs"..."It doesnot mean that we can smoke or drunk in class room since billions of people do smoking frequently everyday".. so there are few things confined to closed rooms..there are other things which can be done in public as long as we dont hurt other peoples feelings or beliefs...we cannot take the messages from movies, their lifestyle is so terrible and horrible...Their main motto is business nothing todo with our culture or tradition or whatever it brings the respect to our India. regards

well said sir. why does this AIDS atarted and expanding..its because of these ppl like Gere and Shilpa , if ppl like them behave in right manner , then there is no need to roam across the world to tell abt AIDS.This wont happen had Indian culture is followed strictly.
They brought up the AIDS and started roamming across the world to tell how to prevent it.what a fun.He is roamming across the world to spred AIDS not to prevent it.

Guys.. how often you take out ur girlfriends on a ride and find a 40 year uncle staring at her bottom?? 90%!!!! Now ladies, would you accept this or not.. Can you maintain a count of the ppl visually fuc*** you when you go to the nearest mall??
We indians live in double standards.. Just like the future of a kingdom lied in the hands of the kings and the maharaja, while the rest of the janta used to be infidels.. Culture is mostly defined and practiced and passed by a meagre 1% of the population. REST WE ARE ALL INFIDELS.
We all say America is a progressive country. NO, it is being progressed by only 1% of the people.. rest 99% are all self-obsessed self-indulgent maniacs who know nothing more than how to eat, have sex and party.
Same in India.. we all are being ruled and led by a handful of gandhi's sons and grandsons, and their corrupt chamchas. Remember, these chamchas were handed huge estates and bungalows when the british left. And now they RULE INDIA!!!!!
So, friends if you really dont want to get vexed up, be in that top 1% or keep complaining about things. Mukesh ambani will not come out of his house and start shouting slagans against Richard gere or ms shetty. he has better things to do and take care of!! But the day he speaks up, everybody will listen and take guard. So be somebody if you want to get urself heard or else keep murmuring about these barbaric acts. The reason i wasted writing so much is i have lots of time to keep reading rediff posts all day. And friends, 99% of us who come to rediff everyday dont have much to do.. the remaining 1% are the ones who created this topic and enjoying what ppl have to comment upon.

It is an excellent article arun, keep up your good work. Most of the people just react and write or they deliberately try to provoke others. What maqsood told about public behavior is true.

Why do you want everyone to follow Indian culture??? why cant ppl use their own heads and see that different cultures have different rules...so what if Gere kissed shilpa on CHEEKS! (NOT LIPS FOR GOD SAKE!!)...why such a hue and cry over such a petty issue...everyone knows what is right and what is wrong...but its the poeple themselves who chose what they want to do...and right now if some one is genuinely wise ...they will let this pass by...there is no big deal about it!!

Hi Arun, Cool dude. What you said is the crude bitter truth. Its a fact. we indians live in double standards.
Every time, if something (kissing etc) happens in public, there are many types of comments and arguments by us. some people say "whats wrong in that? come out of our backward indian culture...you are making the whole country look like a bunch of backward illiterates...if kissing in public is wrong, how come india is 2 nd largest populated nation and many more dialogues"... the other people say "If this culture continues tomorrow our sister and daughter will be like gulz in western countries... we are ok with that?? jus think will you agree if your sis or daughter going out for saturday night, pubs, and bar dance..and many more dialogues"...

i think this shilpa is really into seeking cheap publicity, she went overboard with her BB award winning a cat fight and now sh? degrading herself in public...the girl needs to take some classes from aishwarya on maintaining dignity..
