What a statement ...and from one whom we thought was aginst rasicm and brilliantly so !!! Ms.Mehtha ,I think u are the height of hypocrisy. So, heart of hearts u think SouthIndian are inferior(in looks and what else??)???
Or does it mean that ur movies are not worth the talent of a SouthIndian. Its Probably that....
In any case please be aware that SouthIndians are as good as the rest of the country in beauty and brains (if not better in this area)
And please do tell people who have commented that u look like a SouthIndian(we know why that comment comes), that we SouthIndians dont look so gross!!

The reason she does not want to cast a south Indian is because in the movie, the ppl on the ship are all punjabis.
hi , its good to know that deepa mehta is taking komagata maru as a subject for next film. I think that most of actors for that should be having punjabi accent or from punjabi origin like sunny,dharmendar,om puri,(unfortunately v dont have amrish puri)deep dhillon,kawaljit,dara singh,prikshit sahani,arun bali,ajay devgun,raj babbar,akshay ,vinod khanna,gulshan grover etc. The reason is that , when non punjabi people speak punjabi words , it looks LIKE THEY ARE MAKING FUN OF PUNJABI.And most of them are already accepted as sikhs in other films and turban suits them.
