Water is a movie which actually gives you an idea of how earlier India was and what were the problems. It is really good to see such films being nominated.

Kudos to Deepa Mehta

Water to Oscars

I am really glad that Canada is sending Water to Oscars. Unlike India who sent Paheli instead of Black which truly deserved to go to Oscars.

No wonder Indian films have never won an Oscar besides Apu's Trilogy by Satyajit Ray and now readers are talking about sending KANK & Munna Bhai MBBS to Oscars. Are you kidding me? Every year a lot of good films are made in India. Just because they don't do as well as the overly dramatic and cheesy movies made by "Karan Johar" & "Yash Chopra" at the box office, that does not mean they can't win an Oscar.

Among the movies I have seen so far I think Omkara deserves to go to Oscars.

This is a proud moment for all of us! Although Water has not been released in India till now, but still its an Indian movie to the core. The fact that another country (Cananda) is sending it to the Oscars as their film...is itself noteworthy...

it is a horrible movie.

I was unfortunate to watch this movie. It is pathetic. It is also very poorly conceptualized, and demonstrates how ignorant the director is about our erstwhile social evils.

There was so much to be accomplished, instead the film is a shallow portrayal of plight of hindu widows. No attempt has been made to understand emotional aspects of this social evil, only sex and prostitution have been hghlighted.

I feel that this is another in the line of publicity seeking films which have only india bashing as their agenda.
