Uncomparable Ashajee needs no introduction to any music maniac. She is simply great in her art. Her voice can fill a dying person with life. All her songs are the best in my view. The best among the best are - 'Piya tu ab to aaja'; 'nind chura ke raton' and 'jaan-e-jaan'.
She's the best female singer in Hindi film industry ever. The modulations and emotions she punches in her songs is amazing!!!!
I have scores of favorite songs sung by her. But if I have to select one, I guess, it would be "Do dilonki, hai yeh kahani........." from The great Gambler". I can listen to this song day in and day out.
May she continue celebrating her B'Day for ever, and keep providing those 'gems' to us.
dil cheese kay hai aap meri jaaan leyjiyah----and best combination with rafisaheb---choraliya hai tum nay jo dil ko nazar nahi chorana sanam---and perday may rehnay do
The list is endless and being maharashtrian i have very vast choice to list down
few songs are
chandanyat firatana majha dharalas haat dev jari maj kadhi bhetala kevha tari pahate ruperi valut all songs from umrao jaan - ye kya jagah , in aankhonki mastike piya tu ab to aaja woh haseen dard dedo and so many her songs under direction of o p nayyar
It is a tribute to the power of music and the beauty of Ashaji's voice and singing and personality that someone I have never met or spoken to can have such a deep abiding and positive influence on my life. Ashaji has been part of my identity, my life, my dreams and my happiest moments ever since I can go back in memory. I cannot speak of your music, Ashaji. I have no words that can do you justice. As always I can only humbly affirm how much your music has meant to me, how grateful I am for the uncountable hours of joy and comfort your voice has provided me.
I am a fan of all her well-known songs. Am listing some of her rarer songs that have caught my attention recently: Meri kashti jahan doobi--Tankha --soulful Mere dil se aati hai yeh sada--Paristaan Aansoo piye teri birhan sajan--Dhobi Doctor Dard bhari kisi ki yaad--Sangdil And then typical Asha energy with a song I found a few days back--Meri jawani pyaar ko tarse--Upasana A Marathi one with Pt Bhimsen Joshi--ras barsat amrut veena? So many more---how can one confine the unending joy and absolute magic that is Ashaji to a few paragraphs? Thank you for the music, Ashaji. We love you.

Priyaji, from where u found out such rare songs, i wonder. I have not heard them yet. From where can I hear them, please tell me. By the way, I consider Ashaji greater than Lata. Now a days, you can not bear Lata's voice. Yesudas had publicly opined that she should retire. But the voice of Ashaji is still maintaining the same sensuousness and youth. I love her voice when she sings "Man Tumul Kolahal Pralayme main hriday ki baat re.." poem composed by Jaidev. Another one is gazal "Kabhi shak-o-subja-o-burk par" Hope you have heard them.
ppl say that wine gets better with time...ashaji is like that, she only comes better with age.....asking to select her best song is just like asking a mother to select her fav child....almost every song of asha is a gem....but here are some of my favs......
yeh mera dil pyar ka deewaana ( don ) raat ke humsafar - an evening in paris sarpar topi laal - ( tumsa nahin deka ) maine tuje kabhi ( yeh wada raha ) yeh wada raha ( yeh wada raha ) etc.............
