New don sucks badly. I was so surprised to see how people can give positive comments on such a movie. Today I found time to see and was very upset, how people are comparing new don with the superb Amithabh's one even such a long gap of technology. better stay at your home if you dont have anything to do
Boleh toh, abhi apun Don dekha nahi hai but since I like Sharukh Khan so much, I am bound to like it. I am not sure if I would go as far as using the cricket analogy, however, I do commend you for having found a very stylish reviewer in Maddee Hegde!! Good job Rediff.
the movie stylish thats it, its not gripping ,srk as don was like a lover boy jumping arnd, he was over the top, and he delivering dialogues like don ko pakadna mushkil nahin in his was a total mismatch..,he missed the cruel ice voice and gaze of amitabh..., the most disappointing was khaike pan it was a horrible song
Let me tell you this, that i did not see the old DON, so i'm the group of people whom farhan has targeted for.I must say the movie was sleek, stylish and u can give any number of synonyms you can.But, somehow the movie was not gripping, didnot make me think of what would happen next,i can blame it on bad editing like there was no scene to scene connection and too many stories were squeezed in a single movie.I can understand why its running so well (DUH....coz of SRK ).SRK was at his usual same old expressions,bet he might have seen darr,anjame and other movies of him to get into the mood,as he might have lost touch with the dark side of him.Farhan was good with fashion and other things but what failed was the bad screenplay and editing. Ya if you are a fan of SRK go see it, and contribute to his earnings.
Dont understand why people have make such a big fuss about an entertaining movie. What is it that you expect out of SRK? Every movie is not going to be a DDLJ. The reviewer needs to understand the sensibilities of the reader. If he keeps going as though it is his job to bash every SRK movie, people will stop visiting Rediff. I have already started to look at other sites for movie reviews. After going through all the user replies looks like 85% of the users have liked the movie. So does it mean Raja Sen is writing reviews for the rest 15% who probably hate SRK? for whatever reason...his movies are not stupid. You may not like them for their stories or for his acting but atleast they are not cheap as some of the movies being churned out in bollywood. The only problem I see with SRK is that he is the reigning superstar and everyone tries to find some fault or the other.he is a superstar for a reason...so dont question that.if you dont like his movies just keep away from the theatre and the review..you have no right..As for the movie it has been shot brilliantly and its a great effort at a remake..it is more of a tribute than a remake and that being the only thing raja was right about.
I am surprised at how dumb ppl can be. Guys its not KARAN JOHAR who made DON......................ever heard of FARHAN AKHTAR??? Why would anyone wanna compare SRK with AB.....u go into the theatre....have some fun....get out and forget about it....isn't that what most commercial movies are meant to do?
There is fer sure a lot of jazz in the movie.....I would say if you are not a cynical movie critic or a 70 year old dude.....there's not a single reason the movie would fail to entertain u !
i respect your feelings but you cannot compare new don with old one in any manner , where old don was simple still it was strong as movie, new movie is nothing glamorous having out door locations , the singers doesnot have that pitch and depth which was in original songs etc
so technically don is just for those who are hardcore shah rukh khan fans other wise its a waste of money and time
the new DON was boring. The lead actor did not do a good job. The dialogue delivery was poor and acting skills bad. Direction was another disappointment. I have seen the Old DON and probably the remake should have had Amitabh as the lead actor in my opinion without any bias. Overall for me it was a waste of my friday night.
