Dekho what is happening.

The matter is not so much of liking or disliking the on screen act but the OFF SCREEN DOINGS OF SHAHRUKH KHAN for the film have been DISGUSTING.
One feels ashamed that how he has gone about manipulatively publicizing his film and influencing people all over the media to see how greatly different his remake is to the original film.
Creating impressions in the minds of media (especially the television media ) that this kind of publicity coverage will also help their channel programmes TRPs is a demonstration of what level crass commercialization has come down to.
No wonder the Bollywood crazy people mainly the ones living outside India are not very much in a position to understand this subtle media influences.

The sincerity of the matter is that just by wearing lavish costumes and using modern special effects does not make a film stylish. Mouthing dialogues of a legendary actor in a double role, in a harsh manner and aping his walk and expressions leave such a bad taste.
Any genuine cinema lover would tell what natural class, sophistication and versatility Amitabh Bachchan brought to the original Don.

don DON't dekho

hi,
The new Don has nothing special, I found the first half
verbatim copy and the second half action scenes and many stuff lifted from movies like Drop Zone, Face Off, Conair... So the new Don has nothing more but jazzy fones and thats it.

SRK is silly rather than entertaining at many places...
When I went to watch this movie I never wanted to compare it with the Old DON, but after seeing the new one its not possible to compare the two. The original is a master piece. It had its own touch of bond movies but still it had its own flavor to add. The new one is nothing but......

am an amitabh fan

i am an AB fan, the movie should have a been a tribute to AB. srk would have been more acceptable to me as don if he'd just tried hard to imitate the 'original', instead of putting his own spin on it.
i would have enjoyed the movie if they had just copied the movie scene by scene, just changing the presentation.

Not worth a dekho

The new DON cannot be viewed as standalone without thinking about the old one.
Few thoughts

1) The essence of original DON is that how the duplicate Amitabh infiltrates the gang, it creates some excitement.. The new DON will have to refer to the old DON in making us think that this is the Duplicate DON (no marks)

2)What is this Hi-Fi DON running errands(distributing briefcases of stuff for briefcases of money) for the big boss which infact anybody in the gang can do it. Don;t understand the logic

3) Nobody in the gang knows about the DCP guy who is Vardhan, I mean nobody even saw his picture, (Kudos Farhan)

4) The Kareena song is there just for the heck, there is not emotion before or after.

Farhan's childish ideas of the remake makes it a lousy movie to watch.

Don't beleive me rent the old DON and watch it...thats what I am talking about.

srk or don?
by truthz on Oct 25, 2006 11:13 PM

firstly why would one make a remake of a legendary film? get something original...... i wouldn't even want to watch it and spoil the impression of the original.....plus the movie should be named 'SRK' and not 'DON' because shahrukh can never quit being ' shahrukh'!
