Food is in our plate whether spicy or not doesn't matter..
by srkpriv on Oct 12, 2006 09:22 PM

Some one mentioned in the news piece about spicy vs non-spicy food that is spicy is in our plate it is not everybody is sharing that. The one thing that can be explicit is indians eat their food using the hands directly and also licking their finger as well. That is not the case for the foreign crew, may be the reason indian crew are taking downstairs is because they are not comfortable taking the food using spoon/fork or the foreign crew not comfortable watching us eat using our hands.

Who is doing this discrimination?
by srkpriv on Oct 12, 2006 09:19 PM  | Hide replies

The question is who is doing this discrimination. Most of the time the preferential treatment to foreigners are automatically provided by indians themselves. But if this treatment is meted to indians by americans then it is time to ask them to pack their bags and shoot it in another place of their choice!.

Arre Abhay,
If you are treated like a second-class citizen in the UK, why do you continue to live there? Why can't you return to India? Do you stay back in the UK to pile on more pounds? (Pun intended).

Different treatment

This is an old adage I remembered: Somebody asked a GK question - what is common between US and India? Pat came the reply "Indians are treated equally badly in both the countries"

This is a stupid news article...this is just like in the US whenever a black person is arrested, he calls the cop a racist...And regarding the last comment, I have been in US for 2 years now and still to witness an incident where I am treated badly cuz I am indian...also, tell me...dont many of us shout chinkis at nepalis ? kallus when we see africans ? I feel so ashamed when I see some of our people doing such things...

I kinda disagree with the above comment, i live in USA, and i feel Americans are the most tolerant among any other foreign nationalities towards Indians. Infact Indians are treated with respect and lot of times paid more than their american counterparts.
I don't care if they smile at me without actually meaning it, but they make an effort to be polite when they really don't need to. We Indians cannot boast about that quality.

Well... theres no denial that Indians are treated differently, but what stuns me is our failure to understand the discriminatin in most cases is done by fellow Indians in India and abroad. Stop blaming others for everything, with all the caste system and treatment posed to janitors, servants in India who are we kidding.. Stop such shallow accusations and try to see the true picture and you would notice theres no bigger racism than seen in our own country... I know many of the fellow Indians and may bombard instances when caucasians have discriminated us... but think about it, are we (indians) free from the guilt, and is it the case of pot calling the kettle black?
